Not sure how recently this happened, but definitely since the last time I checked room rates a few months ago. It appears that the rooms have undergone a second renovation as well, and rates are way higher than they used to be. The nights I checked are more than double what they're charging next door at Harrah's. Another budget option is gone.

I guess the strip hotels are driving the people back down town, oh well it just means more fun will be had by the working man down town on freemont. In my opinion a better class of people anyways

It happened December 21, according to their press release. It's a Best Western Plus, which is their mid-level tier. So clearly HQ doesn't think it should be a budget destination.

But if it's running twice the price of Harrah's next door, the only people that will be staying at Casino Royale are people cashing in their Best Western Rewards points.

What did rates used to be like? Every time I had checked them in the past they were sold out. Recently....wide-open availability.

I was driving near the strip last week and I also noticed that the PH tower is now a hilton grand vacations. when did that happen also? Sorry, didn't get the memo, lol.

I stayed at a best western off the strip before (mardi gras inn). it is located near the convention center on paradise. The rooms were big, separate living room from bedroom (no door, just a partition), kitchen area with fridge (no stove though). drive right up to your door. very convenient, I would stay there again if the price were right but usually during the CES the rates are too high.

Now why would I lie about something like that, nostresshere? :haha:

I have a ton of Red Lion points, but LVH's location isn't my favorite.

That's Elara, the old Westgate Resorts they couldn't pay for when the economy crapped out and time share sales dried up

They used to be around $29 on weekdays and $49 on Fri and Sat. Not anymore. It was $119-$169 on the dates I checked. Hell, Mirage was even cheaper. That's just nuts.

you have got to be kidding.

that is a real shame. It was a cheap place for the kids and others to stay that didn`t have a lot of money and still get a good location.

we stayed there one night quite a while back and it wasn`t for us.

great room but waaay too noisy.

Looks like a growing vegas strip trend ... do a partnership with a hotel brand so you can cross-market.

Those rates are crazy for that property. Hopefully things will even out and the prices will come down.

IMO, they're testing the waters by overcharging Vegas noobies for chosing a known brand name. When the noobies realize they've been robbed, they may not forgive the chain.

I'm sure a few months of low bookings will get the message across. :)

It's been a Best Western for years, but not a Best Western Plus!

I don't see how there could be any doubt. Budget-minded travelers are being forced off the strip. See ya!

(Did I mention I got Fremont Hotel during July 4th for $26 a night?)......

I've stayed there lots of times. I just checked for May 1st, a Wednesday. $79, $71 with AAA discount. That's pretty much what it has been for several years.

And for that same night (May 1), a deluxe room in the Quad is $18.99, Bally's is $31, Flamingo is $43, Harrah's is $32, Treasure Island is $78, Monte Carlo is $62 and Planet Hollywood is $62. Even the Rio is only $25. As much as I've enjoyed staying there, I wouldn't be choosing Casino Royale over the others, that's for sure.
