Thinking of heading to Vegas next year the week before March Madness officially kicks off. Just wondering if anyone has gone to the MWC tournament at the Orleans, and whether you are able to bet those games at the sportsbook? Does the tournament crowd make Orleans seem "busy," or does it jsut seem like typical volume for that time of year?

there's lines on pretty much every CBB game the entire year, so the tournament would be no exception.

Ok, I thought there might be an issue since the games were actually being played in a Las Vegas casino. Isn't there (or, wasn't there) a prohibition against vegas casinos offering lines on UNLV games? Maybe I'm misremembering this.

The MWC tournament is at the Thomas & Mack Centre. The Orleans hosted the WAC tourney (and MGM Grand had the Pac-12 ... all in the same week!)

There used to be a law against betting on Nevada teams, but I believe it's been permitted since they changed the law to ban gambling on all other amateur sports in 2000.

Thanks Andy. With three major tournaments going on, any sense for how busy it is there? I'm guessing still not as crazy as the first weekend of MM, but those tourneys would be equivilant to 3 big conventions, no?

We went to the NASCAR race last year which was the same time the Mountain West tourney was going on and we didn't notice any difference as far as being crowded. I'm not sure if the other other two tourneys were going on like this year.

But then again with the NASCAR event we're talking about over 100K people at the Sunday race as compared to maybe 17K or so at the Thomas and Mack center. There were maybe 60K people at the Nationwide race on Saturday.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that in 2012 when the Mountain West tourney was happening at the same time the NASCAR weekend was going on it didn't seem that crowded.
