I saw a thread recently about the VIP Lounge/check-in. I'm still confused. What is the lounge and who goes there? This is my first arrival at the Mirage since I earned gold a few months back. The website says there is a check in area for gold and higher. Is that the lounge or is that just a place have a drink and wait? Is it easier to get an upgrade in that line/area? I do not have a host, but booked a "luxury" offer that includes the limo pick up and Mirage Suite. I had a penthouse last time and would prefer that because of the special elevators more than the room size. I would rather not look like a total goober wondering around looking like I'm clueless.

    Thanks!

When you get to the hotel there is the regular check in and then there is the MLife check in. The MLife check in will have a sign over it that says "MLife" and/or "Invited Guests"

If you have an MLife card or are there on an offer you can use the MLife check in, otherwise you use the regular check in.

Since you are a gold MLife member you would use the MLife check in.

Beyond that, some of the MGM properties have a special VIP lounge for checking in. You can only use that if you are specifically invited to use it... in this case you have not been.

That depends on the property. At Monte Carlo you can use that VIP lounge if you're gold or higher.

Thanks for the info Auggie. I figured it probably wasn't anything exciting anyway. I don't want to waste valuable gambling time when you get a free drink anywhere.

If you're eligible to be in the little VIP room, the regular check-in people will escort you to the VIP lounge. It has cookies and sodas and you get a special room key that you can use as a line pass.

They also have a separate desk in the check-in area that is for "invited guests" but it is not inside the lounge.

Some time ago, I had asked this question on the Mlife facebook. The response I received was "at the Bellagio, Mirage, NY-NY, and ARIA you would check-in at the 'Invited Guest' line. At Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, and Luxor you would check-in at the 'VIP' line. At the MGM Grand and Excalibur you would check-in at the 'M life' line."

I know that Gold can use the "Invited Guest line" at Mirage. I also know that you can use the VIP room at MC, but during my last stay at Four Seasons, I stopped in at the VIP room at MB and asked about it. The person there told me no, I could use the "Invited Guest line" but the the VIP Room at MB was only for those designated by a host. Seems like as with anything about Mlife, the correct answer is subject to the person working at the time.

I used to check in @ the VIP room at the Mirage with my Platinum card. Its to the far right of the check in desk behind little doors to separate the cool kids from the not-so-cool ones.

They have snacks out, and little mini fridges stocked with beer/soda. I used to pop in and out of that room during my stay, flash my card and grab a beer. I tried this again earlier this year and they threw me out since its now Noir only. Either it was always Noir and it turned out I just bullied my way through using it last year, or things have changed.

For checking in they still have the Gold and Above line out where the riffraff check in though. So all I lose is my free beer.

I think it depends on your offer. I had an offer booked at the Mirage for May (which I have since cancelled) and did ask my host where to check in - and was told the VIP lounge - I'm only Platinum.

I highly doubt that it's "Noir only."

After achieving 1M points and being invited into the Noir program, I can't imagine the Mirage is your destination of choice when MLife is rolling out the red carpet.

But, even if it is, how often do you think Noir players are streaming through the doors at the VIP Lounge in the Mirage? Once a week?

I dont have a host, I booked a corporate offer. But it was for 3 nights and $200.00 in Free Play with a $100 dining credit. I asked in the VIP lounge since I was able toc heck in before, and the 1st thing she said was "Are you a Noir player" I pulled out my Platinum card and she said the Platinum check in is right outside to your right. Maybe they didnt like my surly mug in there.

Its not like I made up my shameful story of getting kicked out to impress you guys. I am stating a fact. They told me it was Noir only. And your level means nothing compared to where you play. I'm platinum and I'd rather play in Luxor than Bellagio. So some might might like Mirage.

I'll test it out on my trip. I'll carry my lowly gold card self into the VIP room and see what happens. Or maybe I won't if there's no line at the other spot. But I'll try to remember.

I saw a Noir card person playing at Monte Carlo last time I was there, so it happens. But I do think you're likely to see a higher number at Bellagio than Mirage, which is all I think the other person was saying.

I am platinum and when I stayed there through an offer on the website I used the ordinary check-in.

When I was there in January through my host he met me at the lobby and took me to the VIP lounge.
They give me a black room key that i had to show when i went into the lounge to grab a beer etc

Oh I'm sure it happens a lot. Not every rich gambler has the same tastes.

I forgot to mention that last year when I did get to use this room, it said something on the doors like Platinum Lounge or VIP room or something. When I was there earlier this year there was no sign on the doors at all. You just had to know it was there. So maybe that has something to do with their change or heart on Platinum players?

I just emailed them this question. I'll post their reply.

"Hello, I am a Platinum level player and when I stayed at your property last fall I was allowed to use the VIP lounge to check in/out and grab a drink during my stay. When I stayed with you earlier this year and tried to check in there once again I was told it was for Noir players only. Was there a policy change?"

I don't doubt you. I just think that certain offers they "throw in" being able to check-in using the VIP lounge - like a perk or something. Just like Noir means an automatic limo - but it is thrown in on many of my offers too.

I personally haven't had good luck with VIP lounges. When I didn't use the VIP lounge at the Mirage last time I stayed there, I was told I could have.

When I was told to use the VIP lounge at the Bellagio on my last stay, they booted me out. I was told the same thing for my May stay - so we'll see what happens :)

There's a VIP Lounge at Bellagio? Hmmm... interesting. I didn't know that.

Is there one at the Aria as well?

Actually, Bellagio has both a VIP lounge and an Executive lounge - not sure what the difference is.

    I don't know about Aria.

Your host can code your check in as VIP if they want to. It doesn't matter what card level you are. I'm platinum and always have been since mlife started. I have always asked and have been granted VIP check in for myself and everyone that travels with me. Some of these gamblers have been new to mlife and haven't even had a card before.
If I could go to vegas 4 times a year I could get to noir, but I can only get out there 2-3 times max. They took the VIP sign off the door a couple years ago. It's not a big deal in there. Just can sit in a comfy chair if there is a line. They do give you a key with VIP on it to show them if you go back in during your stay. Aria doesn't have a VIP lounge, but sky suites has their own entrance and lounge if you stay in them.
Anyone that gambles at the level of making platinum in 1 trip will have a host and can get VIP check in if they want it
