We do Disney World every few years (going in June) but now that the kids are approaching high school age, this might be one of the last in a while....although at 36, a kid at heart, I would be happy to go every year!

We also enjoy the Tampa/Clearwater area and Sandestin...been there a few times. We would love to visit Boston this fall possibly. I just started working for a new hotel chain so we have lots of places to go!

Went to Hawaii last year and hopefully next year we can take our first overseas trip to Ireland/England etc... as long as the money holds out

    A Sixer:

Hawaii -- Weather, awesome food, great people, scenery, water sports, no bustle (we avoid Honolulu like the plague), golf.

Pacific NW -- Outdoor splendor, great beer, Oregon Ducks football, Seattle!

New Zealand -- Perhaps the nicest people in the world, drop-dead gorgeous, they don't make a big deal out of slow food because that's just food to the Kiwis, wine.

Arizona -- America's most gorgeous desert, GOLF.

NM -- Native culture, pinon and cloud, food, art.

Central California Coast -- Staycations rock, great wine, it's not LA, coastline, great biking.

I like San Francisco and New Orleans, for basically the same reasons... the nightlife. In SF I love to stay at The Fairmont and hit up some of the nicer Nob Hill establishments and then after dinner and a few drinks, head down the hill into the Tenderloin for some good dive-bar hoppin'. I love the gritty TL feel and there's a bar seemingly every 20 feet.

In New Orleans I like to stay over by Canal Street and make the short walk to The Quarter for fun.

For me Vegas, NYC or San Fran are a long weekends.

My real vacations are international destinations. Usually I buy a guide book and throw on my backpack... and just go.

In the last 6 years I've visited India, China, Mongloia, Kenya/Rwanda and Vietnam/Cambodia. I love exotic locations with interesting wildlife and cultures. I'm always looking for new experiences and adventures to spice up my life.

I think it's impossible for someone to dislike New Zealand. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and it was amazing.

We've been taking advantage of CET junkets to try new places. St. Louis became a fave because it's an easy drive and there is plenty to do besides gamble. We also love New Orleans and didn't see enough when we were there. I love Hawaii and if it weren't for all time it took to get there, I would love to make it a regular destination. The general consensus is that we should move somewhere away from the cold and I am hoping to find someplace west so that it would be easier to get there.

But outside of all that, we are good for the staycation right now: A trip to Blue Chip in Indiana every now and again or a stay at a hotel downtown or near a big suburban mall to relax and shop every now and again and we are good.

I love to cruise. Usually go on Oceania because it has smaller ships. Just did a Trans Atlantic in November, Rome to Rio de Janeiro. Terrific

Also enjoy bus tours of Europe, mainly because I'm a history freak. Italy is fantastic, and I've been to Rome several times. Barcelona is another great European city. Doing a bus tour of Spain in October.

I've really enjoyed exploring the Finger Lakes region of NY, and NYC is high on my list of "must visit" places, as is New Orleans and San Francisco.

My favorite non Vegas trips are to National Parks / natural areas. Sometimes, I piggy back a flight to/from Vegas with a trip to various Southwest areas.

I love Glacier, Acadia, Smokey Mountain, Denali, Grand Canyon, Olympia and Yellowstone/ Grand Tetons. Also like the relative solitude of Roosevelt NP (North Dakota) and the Badlands (South Dakota). So much to see in America.

Vegas is the polar opposite, but I guess balances out the trips to NPs. I also like visiting Civil War sites and have been to all but one current MLB stadiums (42 total, the new Miami stadium is the last on my list).

When I retire, I would like to take longer trips (month +) into Canada, Europe and Australia/NZ.

One of the many perks of a smaller continent with a passel of nations.

    And, yes, awesome indeed.

That's one of the funny things about the states. You can fly five, six, 10 hours depending on where you are going, and you're in the same place, yet within all that same place there is SO much diversity. And we have Texas for that quirky bit of foreign-ness and a different language!

    Places I go normally:

Jamaica/Caribbean - went the last 2 years, we rent a big ass house on the beach (also with a pool) for a week with maids and cooks

Las Vegas - have 1 more trip planned this year, another next year, and will go every year afterwards

Mexico - have Cabo all-inclusive planned and Puerto Vallarta

Orlando, FL - probably going in May
One thing I won't do again....we went to Orlando and stayed for 10 days we went to (one each day):
    Animal Kingdom
    Magic Kingdom
    EPCOT
    Hollywood Studios
    Blizzard Beach
    Typhoon Lagoon
    Universal Studios
    Univ Stud Islands Of Adventure
    DisneyQuest (BE A BIG KID!)
and even hit the CityWalk (mother went and could look after my daughter)
The missus said "I need a vacation from the vacation."

    semi-local spots:

Deep Creek Lake, MD (about 3 hours away) - we rent a big ass house 5-8 bedrooms, have a 3-day weekend in April and May planned, we drink, party, hot tub it, hit the mountain roller coaster, play Dance Central, etc.

Colonial Williamsburg (about 3 hours away) - we stay at resorts like King's Creek Plantation and go to Busch Gardens/Water Country

    Other:

Cruises - haven't been in awhile (about 3 years), want to go on a cruise where you stay overnight at 2 spots in Bermuda and another that leaves out of Puerto Rico that hits an island every day. Probably going in May in conjunction with Orlando (not those first 2 types tho')

Miami - have been twice, beautiful. Love the clubs and food. Lots of "scenery".

I'd like to go to Hawaii and New Orleans since I've never been. Also Atlantis in Nassau.

We tend to go in large groups. Traveling slowed down recently cuz I have a newborn.

As I'm from the Netherlands I don't go to the states very often. I like San Francisco very much though. In europe most favorite city is London! What a great city with a pretty good atmosphere

Palm Springs about once a month in the winter, and every other month in the summer for weekend getaways. Puerto Vallarta in the winter for a couple weeks. Many times I incorporate PS and Vegas into one trip, arriving in one, and leaving from the other.

We go somewhere warm with a beach every winter; for the last 4 years it's been Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It's a nice town with lots of hotels/restaurants (we don't do the big resorts) and plenty of stuff to do in the area - Ferry to Cozumel, trips down the coast to Akumal or Tulum, tour of Chichen Itza, etc.

    Other faves:

Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area (actually, Hollywood Beach) for beaches, people watching, and visiting a very good friend of mine

Hawaii (preferably Kauai) - We went 6 years ago and hope to get back some year :)

The Colorado mountains - Lots of awesome places, and despite having lived here for 30 years, I'm always finding new gems to visit!
