I have used my TR card at Java Cafe, Nosh, and Sbarro on previous occasions in the last few years. I just show my ID and give the clerk my TR card and the total, let's say, $10, will be deducted from my rewards credits. My question is, if i enter a buffet at Planet Hollywood, and/or a fine dining experience at Paris.........will the dining bill be partial or completely comped? On the websites it states on the menu that TR card holders save one or two bucks. Does that mean that if the bill is $25 minus the two bucks, i pay the rest? Or do i just give them my ID and TR card and the total bill is deducted from my RC? I have almost $500 in rewards credits and more when i go in May. Is the $500 mine to use freely (at TR authorized dining)? I could save a lot of money on dining if this is true.

Think of those TR prices as the member price. You get a discount just for being a member. How you pay doesn't matter.

So that item for $25 is $23 for TotalRewards members. If you pay with your points, they will take $23 worth out of your account. You can also pay with cash/credit(however you want) and as long as you show that totalrewards card, you will just have to pay the discounted price.

You can use your card at buffets just like any other restaurant.

I plan on paying by points. So as long as the food is TR authorized, they just subtract my TR credits using my TR card like they normally do, like Java Cafe. I realize the tip is not comped, which is fine by me, i love to tip. I always wondered what it meant to use reward credits and now i know.
    Thanks guys.

The easiest way to pay with your comps is charge it to your room. At checkout you can have them take it off your card.

If you pay with points rather than charging to your room, you won'y be charged the tax on your purchase.

Thanks, my rooms are comped, so the less the better.

Some Do and Some Don't - Be Sure To Check First

Just wanted to add that all restaurants/eateries in CET properties don't take TR cards as payment. I ran into this at the Eiffel Tower restaurant in Paris. They would not take my total rewards card so I paid with a CC. Be careful and ask if you are not sure before you eat. Also at another CET property one of the restaurants charges double TR points if you pay with your TR card. I really didn't like this so I chose not to eat there just because.

I love saving my TR credits all year and using them when on vacation in Vegas for food and gift shop items. I get the rooms comped, use the TR credits for most food and only have to pay to get there and back. If I don't use them all and I never do, they carry over (if you earn that required credit every so many months) to the next year.

Just a tip here, if you only get to Vegas once every 6-12 months or so...to keep your RCs from expiring you need "action" on the account every now and then. I use Socialrewards.com and redeem those points for RCs. That resets the timer on my RCs and keeps them going until my next Vegas visit :)

Is this new? I was in Vegas in NOV. and used my TR card at the above locations and it was fine.
If they don't take my TR card will it be OK to charge it to the room +tax if my room is comped?

Yes, i am aware of that, thanks. My RC expire at the end of May but i am booked at RIO May 12th. In fact, i'm also booked in NOV. at Bally's, so my exp. date will be fine up until at least 6 months from NOV.

Most of the restaurants at CET take points at the register. Eiffel Tower and Mon Ami Gabi are the two main exceptions along with some smaller chain kiosks. As for double points for paying that is something that happens in AC and a few markets outside of Vegas. If it happened in Vegas, it would be a crapstorm.

Thank you Butterfly. I'll just remember that 1000 rewards credits = $10. I am going to Vegas 3 times this year (3 weeks) and will be piling up my points. I will print out the list and take it with me, thanks.

For Mon Ami, you may room charge OR go to the TR desk & get a comp slip from them. I assume the ET works the same for that. With Mon Ami, you are close enough to run out to the TR desk & grab the comp slip once you know the total (without tax) & come back in if you have someone else to sit & wait.

For those that are unaware, Margaritaville food now takes the Quick Scan of your card (used to be you had to room charge). And also you can get a comp for Margaritaville retail (as well as 10% discount) - you do have to go to TR desk & get the comp slip. She added up my stuff, took off the 10% (no tax) and gave me a total to get a comp slip for. She then held it behind the counter for me. I paid .06 out of pocket.

Yes, your RC's can be used at the Eiffel Tower restaurant--you just need to get a voucher from TR desk first. We looked at the menu at the reservation desk to determine how much to make the voucher.

That list is a great start, but its not complete. For instance, I've used TR credits at several places in the Flamingo food court (Johnny Rockets, LA Subs, Bonnaro Pizza) and none of them are listed.

If something doesn't show up here, don't be afraid to ask if they accept TR points, the worst they can say is no.
