I have a trip coming up in about a week so after reading all this talk about Spring Offers popping up on Mlife, I decided to log into my account to see what they had to offer.

All I get are pages upon pages of nothing but Website Rate and Tier Discount Rate; both prices are higher than regular web prices

Then I see off in the corner MGM SPRING OFFERS.

I click on it and it lists basically every MGM property and tells me to phone into each hotel's reservation line to check rates.

So I decided what the heck, I'll just go down the list and see if any of these clowns can offer me anything cheaper than what I can find on the web.

So after about 5 properties that quoted me basically what I can find on my own, I hit the last property on the list; Mandalay Bay.

I give the phone rep my Mlife number and date of trip, and immediately they tell me that instead of paying the discount rate, I can use the comp they have in their system to book a SUITE for fri-sun, with $200 food and beverage, and $100 freeplay.

Naturally I told them "BOOK IT!"

Now you're probably wondering, "What's the big deal?"

Well, I've probably only gambled about a total of $100 at an MGM property during the past year.... and i've NEVER stepped foot inside Mandalay Bay.

Every single MGM property I called told me I only had a (laughable) discount rate available and then Mandalay Bay comes out with this?

So... I'm trying to figure out what happened here.

I'm hoping you experts will chime in.

I have no idea what happened. But if I were you I wouldn't talk too much about it, especially on a public forum.

Sounds like one that you just take it and enjoy it.
Somebody posted a similar situation on here a few months ago where they were getting daily resort credit,F+B,plus a corner suite at Aria that seemed way beyond what their play would deserve.
The fact that it came from MBay is not that weird as I get offers from MGM properties that don't know me,I used to get MBay offers before staying or playing there.
The strange part is the weekend suite offer with FP and F+B credit.

Good score. I dont know what happened. Similarly, I haven't played at NYNY in a few years and they keep emailing me an offer for 3 nights in a suite with 125 freeplay. But I actually do the majority of my gaming on then strip at mgm properties. MGM must be trying to get people in their properties in hopes they will gamble.

Wow. That's awesome. We've lost a majority of our money to MLife casinos for the last 12 years.... we did end up with a pretty good offer from Mirage for May but we have no idea how or why....it's just what the guy on the phone came up with. I can't deny that I'm still jealous tho...of the $200 F&B and $100 FP....our regular room deal didn't I've us anything extra. I'll never understand MLife!

    Here is a POSSIBLE explanation.

One casino (M-Bay in this case) was looking at their numbers and decided to up their offers for a bit. You called in just after the manager told the staff to increase offers and bookings.

    BINGO - you win.

    Again, just a guess.

You said you probably gambled a total of a measly $100 at Mlife property last year. Have you done gaming with them in previous years? Do you have a common name? Maybe they got the wrong guy.

No matter how any of us try to make sense of this it still wouldn't add up with only $100 of play last year.

I've played with them in the past but I have never had an Mlife card until I was forced to sign up for one in order to redeem a comp I earned on MyVegas at MGM Grand. While there I ran $100 through a penny slot at max bets and that lasted about 10 minutes total before it was all gone.

My name isnt too common as it is very ethnic sounding. I'm pretty sure they didn't mistake me for someone else because the offer was tied to my mlife account number.

I know it's not fair for those who actually play a lot and dont receive comps as nice as the one I received and i'm still scratching my head over how this happened but like everyone says... Mlife is a hard one to figure out, but i'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth as they say.

When you called Mandalay Bay... did you book through the general reservations or do you recall booking through VIP services????
If your not sure, look at your email confirmation from Mbay... look at the bottom of the confirmation page and see if the name by the phone number says "VIP Services"

Similar thing happened to me a couple months ago. I usually gamble CET, TI.
I was at NY NY and played about $100 on craps, total. So last week I am looking in to booking my next trip, and when my CET rates are no good I try calling a few mgm properties, and lo and behold I get 3 nights: Friday-Monday at Mandalay Bay comped. They even tacked on some food and beverage and free play. I didn't ask questions, I just said book it danno.
It blew my mind, as like I said I played a measly $100. I am a low limit table player and rarely get weekdays comped at CET. Anyways, pumped to stay at MB as I've never stayed there

The number that Mlife told me to call was the VIP services number.

But all the other MGM properties I called were all VIP services numbers and they told me I had nothing. Mandalay Bay was the only one to offer me a comp.

    Explanation? :confused2:

We can all speculate how this happened:

Maybe Mandalay Bay is looking to bring in new guests and decided to throw a really good offer at people in their database and you timed it just right. Maybe it's a computer glitch that allowed you to get a better offer. Maybe someone in marketing decided it's time to ramp up their offers for a short period. Maybe everyone whose last name starts with __ gets it.

Doesn't really matter just make sure you have a confirmation number to refer to so they don't pull your awesome deal. :drunk:

    I'm calling Mandalay Bay!

Update: I just called and the lady sounded like I was interrupting her nap. Before even asking me what dates I was looking for she said "You dont' have any offers" I said "Really? Because I'm looking at a spring offer code online right now for my account." Then she says, well I can give you 8% off of the room rate, that's it" Rate of $152 $180 and $137 plus resort fee and tax....uh NO thanks!

I have $49/comp/$49 at Mirage. I think I'll stick with that.

I called MBay as well. I don't need a room but was just curious. I was told I had a corp offer with 60 free play and reduced nights or 2 tickets to Michael Jordan golf thing but had to pay for my room. Nothing special. NOte I do have an offer fro 2 free nights and 25 dollar credit at MBAY on my account but they did not notice this. I think mlife is screwey

I stayed at the Mirage and Aria last trip and gave NYNY no play and yet there is an offer in my MLife account from NYNY for 500$ freeplay, 50$ resort credit and 3 nights in a suite.
I have only ever had decent offers from the Mirage and was stunned by this NYNY offer.
    Strange system they have...
