The prices are all in including taxes and resort fees.

I am traveling solo and while not in room a whole bunch I am concerned about how comfortable the beds are and do want a decent sports book to watch the sweet 16.

I recently stayed at mirage and got rates based on past play of $29 per night, but at $25/nt. resot fee and taxes, the total stay is closer to $150 (ridiclous...why dont they just say the room is $54 and stop all this fine print nonsense).

Question...which hotel would you stay at?

Me personally I would take the Ballys room. Just because it is in the middle of the Strip. I like the location and I like the South Strip more than the North Strip.

I recently took a solo trip and stayed at Bally's for the first time and I was impressed. I had a room on the Diamond floor of the renovated North Tower...it was very spacious, comfortable and clean. As others have mentioned, the location is ideal.....connected indoors to Paris and just a short walk to Planet Hollywood. I also spent a good deal of time in sportsbooks, and I enjoyed the one in Planet Hollywood.

Are the CET prices including their new resort fees? ($15/night Ballys; $18/night Rio)? Or were you grandfathered in not paying resort fees with a booking before March 1st? If you aren't, it's Mirage, and it ain't even close.

Edit: Your post says all fees are included. Meh, it's closer now. I probably still go with Mirage because their sportsbook is one of my faves.

I will say that Mirage for an extra $80 I think is well worth it for 3 nights. The room is just much nicer. The sportsbook there is also far superior than the others.

For me, I would probably choose Ballys though since that $80 will pay for a few bets. I don't value the room much at all. Sportsbook is something I can walk to and I enjoy walking in Vegas.

So it just comes down to how much those things matter. The 2 items you mentioned are much better at Mirage than the other 2. Up to you if that is worth $80. :)

Single person... rooms are pretty much all the same.

I would take anything on the strip over Rio, personally.

Thanks for feedback...seems like saving money with rio is just not worth it for most. I just went to cancel rio (which I booked before 3/1) and book ballys. I assumed I would pay resort fee for just the one day that was not comped...I was wrong so i got hit with $45 in resort fees for 3 nights...now ballys total is $100 and mirage total $180...sounds like I headed to mirage :)

The sports book at the Mirage was pretty torn up when I was there last week. There were only a few big screen tvs being used. The tvs on the left side of the sports book were removed and work was being done in that area. There was a bunch of suits who appeared to be going over plans for a re-model. Don't know how long the re-model will take.

You may want to check the CET rates because they dropped today. See my post in the comped section.

Personally I'd pick Mirage, that's still a great deal. I got something similar from MGM recently, it was dirt cheap!

Up to you I guess on how much you want to spend! Can't really beat Bally's location, but I don't feel the hotel itself has much to offer anymore.

    Rio is useless.

That is a great deal for The Mirage. It is far better than the other two.

Thanks all...this really helped to make my decision...I heard that Mirage sportsbook renovation should be done by march madness...bonus!

I would pick Mirage. The difference is price is a couple slot machine spins. Good location and best rooms of the 3.

you would assume it would be done in time for the single biggest four-day sports betting stretch of the year. lots of money on single days, but there can't be a bigger four days in a row than the opening w/e of march madness.

i can't compare sports books, but i'd take bally's over mirage because of the access. if the sports book is far and away better at the mirage, it makes sense to choose as you did.

    I am a Ballys fan

BUT your rate is likely for south tower. Meh. They will typically upgrade you to north tower comped which is a solid room.
BUT Mirage sports book is the best hands down (tho Rio is nice...off strip messes that up) And Mirage is definitely a nicer property overall.

Heard the upgrade is complete @ mirage sports book. Should be great as the space was always nice just horrible Tvs. With new 4k projectors should be something to see. The signal obviously wont be 4k but they should have some upconversion in their software. Looking forward to seeing it next week.

Hopefully CET is reading these blogs and counts the number of patrons they are losing to the resort fees. This is obviously the case here as you prob would have stayed at ballys were it not for the fee.

    Good luck

For me it would be the Mirage or Ballys.

Yes, I would have stayed at Ballys but for the fee...although I am paying fee of $25 per night at mirage but because such a better property, I am willing to pay a little more wheras I am not for a property like Ballys (or RIO for that matter)
