I am looking to head back out to Vegas for 4th of July weekend/UFC again this summer. Right now, my best hotel offers are 2 free nights at either NYNY or Monte Carlo with low rates on other nights(I always stay 4)

Last yr I stayed at Mirage for first time and loved it. I had 3 free nights last year, this year Mirage only sending me 1 free night. I was a long time Flamingo or Harrahs visitor, but CET does not offer me much anymore. Mirage is not totally ruled out, but would just like to get input on the other two

I have been thru both NYNY and Monte several times. In my first few Vegas trips I stayed south strip, so I may Know NYNY a lil more, and probably like the "theme" better. My main criteria and a lil about what i am looking for:

Location for partying and poker- NYNY would be cool because UFC holds there events at MGM, and the convention stuff is usually at Mandalay Bay, so it will be close for all that. Other than that I think Monte is better, because its close to Aria for poker, and closer to center strip bars I prefer to drink at...like Carnival court, gileys, margaritaville exct..... what is on the NYNY end bar wise like that?

Pool- I don't know much about either one, can anyone elaborate?

Restaurants- I prefer burger/pizza type places with good beer. I know Monte has the pub, and NYNY has a food court, but what else is there? Good breakfast

Rooms- im not picky on room size, as long as they are clean. but i do like the $20 tip to get a sweet view, which usually gets me a nicer room than I would need(did at mirage for sure). which place is better for that.

atmosphere in casino - which is more fun? NYNY seems to be imo, but like i said, i havent played in either a whole lot. My main game is poker which id play at aria/venetian/bellagio...but other than that, i like craps and video poker.

    any help would be appreciated

I posed a similar question recently and got some good responses:

I didn't have the same criteria you are looking for but some of the info may help. I ended up booking MC. I had NYNY booked, then PH, then MC.

If you're in for hotel hopping, staying at MC or NYNY for 2 or 3 and Mirage for 1 or 2 might be fun.

Haven't stayed at MC but played there a few times.

Both are MGM properties so you can eat and both and charge to your room and hopefully get comped off.

I prefer the food choices at NYNY especially if you want simple meals as you stated. In fact NYNY opened a new Pizza place on the 2nd floor and there is also one on the first floor in the food court. The food court also has the Greenwich Deli for awesome food and there is a burger place there.

We did have breakfast at MC and very impressed. Not a fan of pancakes when I eat out but I ordered the carrot cake pancakes and was delightfully surprised how good they were. It was a $40 breakfast but lots of very good food. NYNY has the Il Fornia for a quick breakfast (small store next to the restaurant) too with some nice fast and fresh inexpensive breakfast.

No idea about the MC rooms but NYNY are pretty small and not a fan of their bathrooms as they are very small. They are the same size in the larger rooms too. I think you need a suite to get a bathroom that can accommodate more than one person at a time.

The atmosphere at MC is a bit behind the NYNY atmosphere. You tend to find more of the newer machines at NYNY.

I am not sure MGM will allow me to do that(thought it was kind of either or type offer?)? I did not think of it, but if they allowed it, staying first 2 nights at MC and then last 2 at NYNY(close to fight stuff) would be a good idea

MC will have the nicer pool if that helps.

The walk isn't bad from MC to MGM, so I'd factor that out of your equation.

NYNY has better video poker, if that's something that matters to you.

If NYNY has poker, I haven't seen it. The MC room isn't great and even on weekends their tourney only gets 12 players or so, but there are limit and 1-2 NL, and they aren't tough.

Monte Carlo food court has subway. That's something I appreciate.

Slight edge on the basic rooms to MC. A higher percentage of MC rooms are going to have a reasonable view, just because of the way NYNY is designed.

Location for partying...the hotels are right next door to each other. In both cases you're going to leave your hotel. I think this is a wash.

    NYNY has better pizza.

MC has a buffet which doesn't suck for breakfast, NYNY doesn't have a buffet.

I prefer the atmosphere in NYNY's casino most of the time. But it's not well laid out and it's confusing. But VP at the center bar beats pretty much anything MC has for both paytables and location.

Table games -- you get the same rules in both places for blackjack for the most part. NYNY will have SLIGHTLY lower limits most times of the day, but not significantly. In NYNY it's much more important to shop for the rules that you want because of the different pits. All of MC's BJ is in one area, so you'll quickly find what you want.

UFC rarely holds events at MGM. It's usually MB.

I love NYNY. Im 27 and the place has everything. My GF loves the piano bar and I can play slots or vp and be right next to her.

Food at NYNY is nice. $7 for a slice and a beer and the place in the mock NY streets is REALLY good. Burger Bar has always impressed me. Il Fornaio is top class. Great pasta, and short ribs.

One last thing, at NYNY I really enjoy the casinos high ceilings. The MC, for example has really low ceilings.

Monte Carlo is by far my favorite place to stay out of all of the MGM properties. I have stayed at all MGM properties and gambled at all, and Monte Carlo never disappoints. I stay at Aria sometimes as well, and always find myself coming over to Monte Carlo to gamble and visit my favorite dealers and bartenders. The rooms are not as nice as Aria, but the service I get from the employees makes up for that. NYNY is so crowded to me. I have stayed at NYNY 1 time, and the room was very similar to Monte but I felt the room was smaller.
