Two quick must read articles... you Stardust fans will note the comments about Boyd. http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2013/mar/08/who-stands-gain-and-lose-strips-new-megaresort/ http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2013/mar/08/how-much-does-it-cost-build-strip-megaresort/
It'll be interesting to see if they actually call the place "Resorts World" at the end of the day. I definitely like the theme though. Far more interesting than what Boyd was doing with "Echelon". I wonder how this will affect the properties across the street. There's a real mishmash of minimarts and restaurants sitting on what is going to become increasingly prime real estate.
I'm in the camp that desperately hopes they rethink that name despite it being a major branding opportunity for that company. Apparently all but their flagship property haven't escaped the "Resorts World" moniker. I just think it sounds so tacky. Resorts World sounds like a sim game I can play on my computer. I suppose when you start playing around with that much money, you can do whatever you want. They can call that place Happy Mega Fun Times if they want, it'll still draw me in to check it out
I really didn't take in the full scope of the project til now. Is this too big for right now? I wonder if more retail is needed or if all those hotel rooms would be smart. I have always wished for a more Asian influenced casino and I am not going to be down on a project that will take some wind out of the sails of Steve Wynn. Now if only someone can come up with something really tacky for the New Frontier site that completely annoys him!
