Both properties are offering great rates, but if you had to choose one, which would it be? Has the Quad overhauled their rooms? Is the Luxor too far from the action on the Strip? Are upgraded rooms nice at The Quad?

I have stayed at Luxor about 10 years ago, and never at The Quad. Budget minded trip coming up and will probably have to choose between these two.

Any suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciate.

    Thanks!!

Luxor without question. Tower rooms are pretty nice. Quad rooms are very worn and not in same class.

Luxor by far. There is plenty of action on the south side of the strip.

Luxor by a mile. It is a little far south for my liking but it sure beats The Q

Luxor is fairly solid and a novel location. Quad is just filthy and inconvenient beyond belief (stayed there recently and rooms/hallways/elevators are revolting).

    Thanks!!

Thank you everyone for your replies. I really wanted to stay center Strip, but don't want to be miserable either with what I am reading about The Quad's rooms. My hubby hates to "hotel hop", so we will be staying at one place the entire 6-day stay.

I haven't been to Vegas in over 2 years, so I am excited just to be going back. I'm sure Luxor will be fine.

Thanks for putting me at ease with my choice.

Yeah Excalibur would have been one property closer to center, about $20 less than Lux, and better than Quad.

Go Luxor as long as they haven't updated the quad rooms. I stayed there in may last year when it was still IP. Rooms are old worn and just not what you want.
Every morning I did not know how fast I wanted to leave that place.

Luxor by 50 miles. Friend them on facebook or get their text alerts, you should be able to get a deal on a tower room, and Quad is now charging a $10 resort fee which is ridiculous.

I'd actually prefer the Motel 6 on Trop as opposed to the Quad!

I didn't care for the Pyramid rooms, but if the tower rooms are decent, I would stay there. The casino isn't too bad, even won a few bucks waiting to go see Carrot Top a couple weeks ago. I like the smell of their casino floor, a vanilla scent- but not overpowering.

Luxor for sure. Easy walk to gaming at Mandalay/MGM/NYNY and the tower rooms are pretty nice.

Luxor of course!! Hell, I'd go with Excalibur over The Quad. Luxor isn't bad at all. The casino is renovated, they have some good shows there. I guess the downside is the location, and personally I hate their parking garage haha. Yea, the Pyramid rooms are weird and small, but hey I love the sideways elevator haha. It's really not bad though by any means.

It comes down to MGM maintains their resorts. Also the Quad is in the midst of renovations which could prove annoying.

I am not in the norm, but location location location is most important, so I would always choose The Quad. The rooms at The Quad are just fine, IMO.

For me, when I stay at the pyramid I stay in the pyramid. While I agree that the tower rooms are a little bit bigger and a little bit nicer, it seems a shame to turn down the amazing novelty of the property. Also, the twisty narrow hallway walk to the tower elevators can become frustrating, especially during high traffic hours.

Quad has not touched their rooms. They have focused on exterior and casino first.

Luxor would be a definite step up unless location is very important to you.

We found nothing wrong last April at the IP....but we stayed in a LUV TUB room....had a LOT of fun at the IP...dealers were very friendly and the Dealertainers were GREAT.....The Luxor is OK but a LONG way from the strip IMHO.

My dad and uncle stayed at the quad in January and said that the room was remodeled from the old IP room.

I was offered a Tower Deluxe for my stay, but switched to a pyramid spa room (now called a suite) with a jet tub overlooking the strip / airport. The main reason I switched was because I wanted to take advantage of the rare opportunity to sleep in a pyramid structure. The furnature was older / beat-up, but the room was nice enough. Tower rooms are newer with better furnishings if you don't care about staying in a pyramid.

It's a shame MGM stripped out any reference to the pyramids / Egyptians throughout the remainder of the property. Monte Carlo and Mirage were nice as well before their "make-overs", which remind me of the mob wife make-up scene in Godfellas.

The Quad HAS NOT scheduled or completed renovations of their rooms.

IP has location, no Criss Angel and possibly easier comps but that is about it as far as any advantages go between IP and Luxor.
