Hey guys, glad I stumbled upon this site tonight, it is awesome. Quick question about 3x4x5 odds because I have never played these before and it seems like most casinos offer this on the strip and I won't be able to afford much higher stakes.

So I have been messing around on Bovada tonight playing craps and the way they have it is if the point is a:
6 or 8 I can bet 12 for my odds on my DON'T come bet
5 or 9 I can bet 15 for odds on DON'T come bet
4 or 10 I can bet 20 for odds on DON'T come bet

This is all with a $5 come bet. The way I understand it from what I've read is that when at the tables with a $5 COME bet shouldn't the breakdown be

6 or 8 I can bet 25 (5X$5) for my odds on my come bet
5 or 9 I can bet 20 (4X$5) for odds on come bet
    4 or 10 I can bet 15 (3X$5) for odds on come bet ????

So I guess I understand the breakdown of the 3x4x5 odds when simply doing pass/come bets but am unsure of how it works when doing don't pass/don't come.

Also any strategy ideas let me know. I know no strategy is sustainable but always fun to try and lower the cost of entertainment

sorry don't know how to edit my op. I think i figured it out and it is reversed because I was betting the Don't pass/ don't come correct?? But why does it limit my odds bet to what seems like 2x3x4?

    $5*2ish=$12
    $5*3=15
    $5*4=20

Also incase anyone wants to offer some strategy my bank roll is a grand for 3 days in vegas.

Although some casinos offer 3x4x5 times on the odds bet, the numbers you quote for a Don't Come on a 5 dollar bet are exactly double odds for all those numbers. You would win 10 dollars odds bet for each of those numbers if the point is not made.

So what should I expect from a table doing 3x4x5? The above numbers I gave are from an online casino I was just messing around on earlier tonight. I'm going to Vegas tomorrow so I am curious what I would be putting down for full odds at a table betting $5

I understand this breakdown of 3x4x5 if I am betting the pass/come but not sure how it differs when moving to don't pass/don't come

    Assuming $5 bets
    point is 4 or 10 ($15 odds pays 2 to 1)=$30
    Point is 5 or 9 ($20 odds pays 3 to 2) =$30
    Point is 6 or 8 ($25 odds pays 6 to 5)=$30

Your numbers are odds bet for a pass/come bet. If you are betting don't pass/come, then you would have the opposite effect. In each of the numbers, your max odds bet would be $30 on a 5 dollar don't bet and pay off as follows:
Point is 4 or 10 ($30 odds bet pays $15)
Point is 5 or 9 ($30 odds bet pays $20)
Point is 6 or 8 ($30 odds bet pays $25)

If the place does the 3-5x's odds...can I just play double odds?

So I bet $30 for my odds even though $30 is 6x my original bet of $5? I see the 3x4x5 in the payout and understand that it is basically a 5x4x3 because I am betting the don't

Yes. You can bet any times up to the maximum allowable odds bet. Just remember to place an even number of chips on the 5 or 9.

When placing a don't bet, the odds are not calculated based on the amount of the bet. It is based on the win. For example, if max odds is 3x for 4 or 10, then for a 5 dollar pass line bet, odds allowable would be 15 dollars. On a don't bet, odds allowablle would be 30 dollars for a win of 15, which is 3x the don't bet.

    HAWJOHN has it correct here.

3X4X5X is 'convenient' on the pass line because you end up winning the same amount every time, ($5 pass line, you win $5 + $30 = $35 total). For the don't side, you end up BETTING the same amount each time, and winning a different total.

Don't fall for the trick on the 3X4X5X odds. Simply play 3X with $10 flat (most of the tables will be $10 min.). The reason I say this is because if you take 3X4X5X times odds, you are not rewarded proportionately when the outside numbers hit. Sure, if you find a $5 game you can still do this. Just take $14 odds on 5 and 9. Think about it. Your risk/reward is lopsided when you load up on 6 and 8 compared to 4,5,9,10. The reason the casinos set this up is to entice you to overplay your bankroll. They say it's because the payouts are easier to figure but we all know that's preposterous when you have all kinds of bets in action on every roll. And that's my 2 cents! Thank you, thank you, thank you very much.
