Quiet Bar or Lounge Downtown

A group of us ladies (approx 10 of us) would like to sit and visit while having drinks (not dancing and whooping it up) but maybe some nice music or being able to view the light show from our table.
Any reccomendations?
I have only been downtown for a few hours and walking, never stayed or went in bars.
The strip seems almost impossible to find a place to sit down and enjoy visiting and drinking without it being extremely loud or only a table for 2 or 4.

 

One idea is the 46 bar at the Nugget - it juts right into Fremont and looks comfy.

Two drink minimum.

It won't be any quieter than Fremont itself though.

The Vue bar at the D (upstairs) might be an idea if you get a table near the top of the escalator.

 

No view, but the Parlour Bar at El Cortez is quiet and has a good happy hour.

 

Okay....this is not perfect, but just consider it.

The Main Street Station Casino has a place named MSS Brewpub. It is inside the casino, so you would be unable to see the FSE light show.

However, it has the following positives:

1. Not noisy

2. Very "friendly". That is, not a rough place at all.

3. Great appetizer selection.

4. Large tables available.

5. Pleasant service.

On a personal note, I have been in there many times, and have always had " good vibrations " there.
( Apologies to the Beach Boys ).

The Vu Bar at The D did not have outdoor tables or chairs as of last weekend. I hope they return because that landing is larger now.

The MSS pub is the Triple 7 Restaurant and Microbrewery. I strongly suggest the Korean Spare Ribs which are new on the appetizer menu.

The Whiskey Licker is Binion's offering to the outdoor lounge scene. They are right next to the 1st Street Stage so you can enjoy that band of the evening.

Here's a pic of the WL and 46 Bar. Don't remember why I didn't get the 46 Bar in one shot. Probably came out blurry and I deleted it. The 46 had a fire pit going for the cooler nights. Might be a bit small for 10 ladies.

Mickey Finn's is another option. Located in "Fremont East" across 4th Street and not underneath the canopy.

 

A little off the beaten path on Ogden (about street over off of Freemont) is Mob Bar (http://mobbarlv.com/), a classy speakeasy kind of vibe with some AMAZING cocktails, all hand made from fresh ingredients that will definitely put a pep in your step! Not too sure about entertainment here as I have only been during the day, but definitely worth a try.

If you want something a little more off the beaten path, just past FSE in the Freemont East section is Downtown Cocktail (http://thedowntownlv.com/), a small, dimly lit swank lounge with some great cocktails. My personal fav there is the Sazerac, but careful as one too many will knock you on your tucus.

If you are feeling EXTRA adventuresome, leave Freemont Street, hop in a cab a head over to Frankies Tiki Room (frankiestikiroom.com/) on Charleston. This is DEFINITELY worth the trip, a total throwback to 60s tiki/cocktail culture with a lounge exotica vibe that is second to none! handcrafted tiki drinks that will get the job done (drinks are rated by skulls as to their potency) and a setting that must be experienced!

I just remembered Binions used to have a rooftop pool party on Friday nights. Don't know if they still do it.

I've seen good reviews of the Tiki room as well.

Frankies is a great bar, but I would not recommend it for a random group of "10 ladies". It's kind of dark, kind of exotic, a little divey, and it just isn't for everyone. If you go at the wrong time (during Viva, at the end of March) it will be standing room only. If catching the FSE lightshow is important then 46 at the Nugget is your best bet. For a quieter time (until the entertainments starts inside the bar) and people watching on Fremont, the patio at Mickie Finnz is a great spot (unless the zip line construction is in the way). There are a number of good bars in the Fremont St East area (Downtown, Vanguard, Insert Coins, Griffin, Don't Tell Mama, Commonwealth, Parlour inside El Cortez, etc) Which you would prefer depends a lot on the type of drinks you want, the age range of the group the time of day (earlier generally = quieter) and the sort of "vibe" you're looking for.

 

I recently had dinner at oscars at the plaza and I think this would fit what you're looking for. The drinks aren't cheap but its a classy and relatively quite lounge/restaurant with an awesome view of the FSE.

 

I 2nd this call. Although if ya went during prime dinner time it might get a bit noisy.

 

The other choices mentioned i cant comment on as i havent been.

 

There is a nice indoor lounging area at Golden Nugget with an amazing view of the pool. A small bar and minimal seating.

 

Sam, that lounge at GN sounds interesting!

But, I missed seeing it.

Thanks for the advice everyone...we are all age 40's to 60's so dont think the pool party (however it sounds fun) would be the thing to do...probably be filled with young whipper snappers and we would look like dirty ole women...LOL FSE is not important but at night we arent sure that leaving the area would be wise. Loved the pictures and will definately do some investigating on these places and share with the rest of the ladies for feedback from them.

 

It may not be what you are looking for, but it's just to the right of the main entrance to the Shark Tank pool. It's a relatively new bar and seating area , and even though it's basically in the main corridor, I'd still consider it quiet and relatively intimate, compared to other places where the music is blasting. And truly, the view is phenomenal, both looking at the pool and for people-watching.

 

I think they called it Ice Bar or something to that effect and it is cool.

 

It should be safe to walk as far down Fremont as the El Cortez. With the additional info, I think either 46 at the Nugget or Parlour Lounge at El Co would be a good choice for cocktails.

 

After dark the H20 bar in the pool area at the Golden Nugget would be good for a larger group. It's not crowded at night, and lots of atmosphere. Water, aquarium, jacuzzi, fire pit and good music
