I'm booked for May 21-25, but the rates the weekend before Memorial Day weekend are astronomical. I mean REALLY high. I can't seem to find what is going on in Vegas that weekend. Anyone know? Just curious.

Well, it is a Canadian long weekend and prime Vegas season all around.

Memorial Day is the 27th so you are including the beginning of Memorial Day weekend...also Mon the 20th is Victoria Day in Canada their version of Memorial Day...That is the reason we are staying the 13th - 20th...we like to get out of town when everyone else is coming in. Trying to add another ressie for my MIL to come with us...thurs the 16th is high, South Point 17th and 18th are high also. May never has many "cheap nights" lot of holidays, conventions.

Initially my thoughts are also Canadian Holiday and great weather.

Also from the 20th to the 23rd there are two big conventions going on (expected 70,000 attendees) plus a fair number of smaller ones.

I've got 11th-15th here at a pretty cheap rate at the Wynn. I know Fleetwood Mac concert is at MGM sometime in late may but I highly doubt that has any contribution to the prices.

Okay, Canadian holiday. Makes sense. I could not figure that out. I'm paying more on a Tuesday than I am for a Friday night!

It's RECON. RECON is the biggest retail commercial real estate conference in the world. About 30-40,000 attendees and nearly all of them are high income/high net worth individuals. That drives the cost of the top tier places (Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian, Caesars, etc.) way up as they all want to stay there.
