These hidden and stated additional extra costs are really starting to grate on me. Okay, I booked Bellagio for 4/21 for 4 nights in a fountain view room.

    5/21 $219.00
    5/22 $159.00
    5/23 $159.00
    5/24 $159.00

    subtotal $696

    then we add taxes...

    Taxes: $83.52
    Total: $779.52

    Deposit Due: $245.28

    Okay, gotta pay them taxes. Then I book the room and get this;

    Name: farkingidiot
    Arrival: 5/21/2013
    Departure: 5/25/2013
    Amount of Stay: $891.52
    Deposit Received: $245.28

For your convenience, a daily resort fee of $25 (subject to applicable tax) will be added to your room account and will include the following hotel services: unlimited high speed and wireless Internet access, unlimited local and toll-free telephone calls, access to the Fitness Center and complimentary printing of boarding passes.

Okay, so they preemptively added the resort fee. I get that.

SO WHERE DID THE EXTRA $12 I'M BEING CHARGED BEYOND THE RESORT FEE COME FROM? :grrr:

    *AHEM*

So beyond the cost of the basic room, taxes, resort fee, etcs, adds another almost $200 to the bill. Can someone explain this to me?:bang:

    *sigh*

There is tax on the resort fee, too. Thats the $12, is $3 per night resort fee tax.

    Fun, huh?

It's a fee to cover the cost of applying the resort fee. They're just doing it because we demand it. . . .

Nevyn is right (but Don's answer is my favorite). It's tax on the resort fee.

Like they say. It's for your convenience.

Why the charge for Internet? Ok when the internet was new and cool I can see an extra charge, but as every day as it's become it should be part of the room like the TV. They don't charge you for cable tv (not talking PPV) or water, or A/C, or lights.

Does the resort fee now cover all beverages stocked in the room or is there still and extra charge for that? How about the safe?

If it's in the room it should be part of the room rate. If it's part of the resort like the spa then its a resort fee and should be optional for those who wish NOT to use them.

Thanks for reminding me why I stay downtown or off-Strip! Or did you neglect to mention that the price, with the "convenient" resort fee and tax, includes limo, meals, a show, and some free play chips? It does, doesn't it?

Yes, it's important to note that whatever the hotels decide to call it, the Nevada Office of the Treasurer considers it part of the room rate and therefore subject to the hotel room tax.

I guess as long as we keep coming back, they'll keep doing it to us. Sorta like the $8.00 beer at a Packer game....as long as I keep buying 'em, they'll keep charging that (or keep raising it).
