That's going to be a busy week(end) with st Patrick's and NCAA starting. I'd ask about a Rialto suite, possibly?

Is there any advantage to Venezia tower vs the main tower?

I arrived at the Rio last night. We were originally booked in a deluxe King in the Masquerade Tower. Handed the checkin person the sandwiched $20, and said "I was hoping we could get a strip view in the Ipanema tower." She took the cards and bill and set it aside and spent about 3 minutes checking in the computer. Then she placed my cards with the $20 on the counter and said they didn't have any Kings with a strip view in either tower available, and asked whether the view or the bed was more important. I told her the Ipanema tower was really the important thing, and we'd take a 2 queen in the Ipanema over a king in the Masquerade. She said she could do that, and I tried to give her the $20, because that was an upgrade enough for us. She declined the $20, and we are now in the Ipanema on the 18th floor. She also offered to put us on the list, so if a king opens up, we will have the opportunity to move.

Im sure this is a long shot from posts I've read but what are the odds of getting an upgrade at Paris on Sat March 23rd at 6 pm? Probably not great since its a saturday night during March Madness and spring break time but I think I might give it a shot, unless I will be completely shut down!

I love the way some feel they didn't get $20 worth of upgrades, or worry if they would get their 20 back if they feel it wasn't an upgrade. You are in Vegas, in a casino resort. Where's your spirit? It's a gamble, you're their to gamble, and it's the first bet you take. Some win, some don't. It's not a guarantee.

We tip all the time and usually come out well ahead. I don't try to hide the money either. I place it right on the counter in full view of her and hand her my ID and CC. It tells the check in rep that I may push it towards them or I may not depending on the outcome (even though I've never taken it back, although I've had it pushed back when nothing could be found), but it lets them know it's in play to be earned. If the tip is already in their pocket when they start to look, it's tough to get back if there are no upgrades available.

Did $10 last week at Ballys and got upgraded to a North Tower Suite. I only had big bills so had to do $10.

    Realistic Cosmo upgrade

I check in in two days. I am planning on $20 and might go up to $40 depending on feedback in this thread. I have a basic room reserved but I'd really like to upgrade to a wrap around suite. I think I'll be getting in before the march madness crowd. I am hoping that helps my odds.

    Thoughts?

I was at PHo last month, and the just gave me the mountain luxury room, which was nice, 2 sinks, on a corner, 100sqft bigger.

I think it *may* have been my TR Visa, first time using it there.

Really though, their upgrades aren't that fancy there. There just isn't a whole lot you can ask for. It's either a slightly larger room, or a view. The 20 trick works best at places that have tons of rooms that are better than yours.

I've read other sites that say Cosmo is good when it's less busy. Wraparounds in place of the standard rooms in some posts.

I've gotten a upgrade from a studio suite to a wraparound terrace suite for $50 once there, over Halloween weekend 2011. I couldn't believe my luck, it was a super busy lobby and I asked and got a decent view (of Aria not Bellagio).

I'd do it again there. Why not?

I know the Excalibur isn't much of a place to stay but if I booked the base basic nothing room, what would be the best thing I should ask for?

Tower Suite or Superior room. Anything else is within $5 a night of a basic room.

Funny you would make that comment as PH has the largest selection of rooms I have seen.

Bit of a flyer here, but has anyone had any success in upgrading rooms when you have prepaid through a 3rd party website?

14 nights in a Carson Tower room 21st June - 5th July was coming out at $1350 including taxes directly, but I've managed to get my flights direct with Virgin and the room for $1.8k saving around $800.

Ideally I want to stay in the Rush Tower, I know that the $20 trick isn't going to fly for a 14 night upgrade and probably even $100 wouldn't. However, I was wondering if anyone has been able to upgrade by paying the nightly difference at the hotel they have booked?

You may call ahead and see if they'll cut you an upgrade deal for that big of a stay.

We currently have a standard 2-queens room at the Cosmo. There will be 4 of us staying in the room, but we won't be sharing that part. Upgrading to the wrap-around would be nice as 2 of the people can sleep on the couch. So if I ask for an upgrade to the wrap-around should I or can I say that any upgrade below that would not be acceptable? For example--the terrace 1-bedroom doesn't have a big enough couch to make that particular room work for us. Any suggestions or advice?:ssst:
