Have asked before and we are on limited budget for room but would like to stay on strip since wife's first time..... For our budget about $50 per night found these:

    Circus Circus (casino tower king)
    Riviera (luxury king)
    Stratosphere (premier king)
    Excalibur (standard tower king)

Feel free to give opinions of how cheap I am too..... Lol....just figured want most money to enjoy doing things just want room that's clean.

    Thnx Greg

    circus ...too many kids
statosphere ...not bad but too far away from anything
excaliber ... again it is o.k. but lots of kids
try the quad ....midstrip and should be under your dollar amount for each night , from here you can walk anywhere

    1. Are you including the resort fees or tax in you narrow down?

    2. If so, Ballys is $275 before resort fees and tax. Luxor is often cheap as well. Both have better locations and are probably near your budget.

    3. Have you tried Priceline? Hotwire? ....either in conjunction with betterbidding.com?

    4. Do have a Total Rewards and MLife card?

    5. I got at 5-star hotel at $86 on Priceline. You might try lower stars and bid less.

If its her first time she wont be too impressed with any of your choices.

Circus circus , riv and strat are way down by themselves so getting to the meat of the strip will requiring a cab or walking through contstruction zones. If thats your wifes idea of a great vacation then go with that.

Excal is ok and I would pick that one.

Keep in mind that a few bucks more will get you a much better place.

If it were me, I would look at ballys, nyny or Monte Carlo.

They are nice places that you wont be ashamed to stay at or tell your friends about.

    The key is the wife.

Close your eyes and picture what a vegas casino is like. Most likely you are picturing something cool and hip and fancy. Thats what you see on tv. She is thinking that too. Then you book a room at a place that hasnt been upgraded since cousin oliver walked on the set of the brady bunch in 1973.

What do you think her first impression will be?

For a few bucks more its worth pleasing her on this one.

Location would take your first three choices off the table immediately, leaving Excalibur. Having never stayed there, only passed through, I would have no problem staying there if solo, but would not take my wife. I have stayed at NYNY and MC. We enjoyed both and prefer MC. Open the wallet a little farther and pick something else. As was said, you can do a lot better for not a lot more.

Thanks. Wife has been there just not stayed, we stayed one night at the Fiesta in Henderson when her uncle who lives there got it for us. I was in a tractor trailer then so not a lot for choices.

She wants to stay on the strip but doesnt care where or about the money trust me weve been together a long time and as long as room clean we wont be in the hotel much except to sleep, etc....

You mentioned quad only reason i didnt put it was so much negative feedback on here about that one along with LVH.

On priceline thought about trying the bid thing but you cant pick, can you narrow it down to a hotel on the strip?

i stayed at Excalibur once back about 10+ years ago and it was decent then and we do want to do the medievel show thats there.

We will have a rental car also so travel is fine and we both like to walk a lot as well.

Believe me i would like to open the "wallet" more if i could but we are using our tax refund money its all will have and need to leave plenty for the meals and shows we want to see.

Will be booking something this weekend and are going April 14 to 20 (6 days) flying out of Dulles/Balt. or maybe Richmond (if cheaper) or Pittsburgh.

Oh, almost forgot I know about resort fees and though dont like them that is not counted in my budget for room.....just want to be no more than about $50 per day or about $300 for week. Also was considering since friday was higher maybe booking sunday thru thursday and staying one night seperate when get there for friday or would that be worse?

    Excalibur

I'd pick excalibur and wouldn't look back. As long as you have realistic expectations, you'll have a great time. The location is so much better than the other 3, you can walk to about 7 properties in under 10 minutes!

I never see as many kids at Excal as many people say. Only people partying up and having a good time!

    Have fun.

Based on your selection Excalibur would be my choice, but since you are taking your wife and its her first trip I would continue searching to add to you options.

From your list I would have to say Excalibur simply for the location, nothing else.

Sorry but I wouldn't recommend any of those. LVH is much nicer than those by the way. If you are going on week days, you should be able to get something nicer for that price - Monte Carlo, Flamingo, Tropicana. I always have to stay on a budget myself, so I recommend you keep trying.

Am still looking believe me at all the travel sites, cant tell if one is more reliable or better than others....trying kayak,orbitz,travelocity,priceline...etc

just found thru book-it a good deal can get the basic room at ballys in my budget and few more....

of course is plenty of deals off the strip but would still prefer strip unless something great jumps up off strip / downtown (for example golden nugget in my budget too)

Am checking now and few more opened up can probably stretch to.....going to see difference in resort fees also.

Ballys,Harrahs,Luxor and maybe slight stretch for Monte Carlo or Flamingo? (im sure these are all for the basic rooms)

Of the ones you mentioned I would book the Excalibur just because of location. As others have said the other three are isolated.

I just checked your dates on the Total Rewards site and you can get a deluxe room at the Quad for an average around $40 a night including resort fee. The Quad is not the nicest property for sure, but the location and price is tough to beat. If you can handle a Super 8 room than the rooms at the Quad will be fine. The biggest drawback right now is the construction.

Get a Total Rewards card and use it at a CET property on your trip. CET is generous with room comps for all level of gamblers.

I would choose the Stratosphere. Access to the tower and the $5 food credit per day included in the low resort fee are excellent perks.

My advice is to book the most inexpensive room and they will email you with an offer to upgrade rooms at less than half the regular price.

You'll be a cab or bus ride away from either downtown or mid strip. Have a good time!

Yes you can also designate the strip with priceline, south or north.

Keep in mind that going higher in price for the room may mean going even higher in rez fees.

Ballys is not bad choice but (I remember your initial thread) you were leaving on Friday before. Now you've included Friday which changes things a bit.

DEFINITELY go for priceline first. You are naming your own price. If someone bites....boom. I wouldn't go below 3 stars tho'. Ballys and Excal are considered 3 stars. Both are in good locations.

Your right I was leaving Friday originally but the flights I could get cheap would involve leaving LV real early so figured stay Friday for an extra day then could leave Saturday morning to get more time there.

Why was thinking book package til Friday then maybe stay one night cheap somewhere else?

There are sites that will pretty much reveal down to 2-3 hotels what you'll be getting from Hotwire and Priceline. You can cross-reference them. Also, you may get a 4* at that price point this way. Be sure to remember that they will add $15-25 per night as a resort fee at checkout.
Make sure it lists casino as an amenity and at 4* you'll be good.

Sign up for the Las Vegas Advisor to get a weekly email on hotel deals, and sign up on each hotel's website to get on their mailing list as well.

    Also check out Treasure Island:
    1. decent prices
    2. not a gigantic hotel to walk through every night
    3. rooms seemed pretty nice when I stayed there 1.5 years ago
    4. Great north-central strip location (IMHO)

TI is running a 50% off + 2 free buffet deal on their website this weekend, and I saw some weekday rates for $59/night.

I think The STRAT , Riv, and Circus*2 are a bit too far north, especially if you're bringing your Vegas newbie wife.

You might also want to consider downtown, especially if you are really planning to do the drinking+gambling thing. Stay (for example) at the Golden Nugget (<$60 rates available), take the bus to the strip one or two days for sightseeing.

Keep in mind that TI has one of, if not the highest resort fees on the strip at $28.
