Does anyone know anything about this new game? Its called "High Card Flush". I got an e-mail from them today but no details about how to play. Has anyone seen this at M or any other casino? I was just in Vegas in January and didn't see it. But I'm up for a new challenge.

There are so many of these new poker type games its getting hard to keep up! This one looks as bad as the rest. Funny how the casinos never come up with new games with low house edges -- the only way to get good odds is to stick with the classics like blackjack, craps, pgp, baccarat, and video poker.

It looks like fun - I'll give it a try when I'm out there in May. Stay on a J-9-6 flush or above.

Love the Wizard of Odds site - it's what got me to play 3-card poker, 4-card poker and Pai Gow. It really breaks the rules and the math down into something you can easily understand. Good Luck!

Actually the simple strategy calls for you to stay on a T-8-6 flush or higher. The optimal strategy says you will always stay on J-8-6 flush or higher, but the Wizard gives no info on which hands to calls that are weaker than that, so you are usually best to follow Charles Mousseau's simple strategy, which says to call with any T-8-6 flush or higher.

I thought I played this in Laughlin a while back...and according to that WoO article I was right.

The game sucks even the dealers said no one ever came back to play it a second time. I even had some decent hands and won some money when I played it and never went back to the game the next day.

The Wizard lists the house edge for this one as 2.71%. That's certainly better than 3CP and some of the other carny games...

It's extremely difficult to tie (0.08%), so what you probably saw was a lot of dealer-doesn't-qualify hands and player winning only the ante bet, more like Caribbean Stud.

I would honestly rather play 3 card monte then any of the goofy games i see sprouting up. The results will be about the same plus i will understand how to do it.

But it looks like a tie because most people play the bonus.

In 3 card poker I don't play the bonus and take the ante win to grind a profit.

Grind a profit? You a good hole carder or something? The main bet in the game is still a loser, it just loses significantly less than the pair plus. I couldn't stomach playing 3 card poker that much (played once in the last ~7 years) and ignoring pair plus. Because I wouldn't hear the end of it from the rest of the table if I made trips without betting pair plus...lol

...that's the very reason to play 3-card more heavily weighted on the ante/play.

A $25 bet instead of $30; $10 each on the ante/play & $5 on the pair-plus. On every non-qualifier, you still make $5, net...but you're still "in" for the bonus (which will actually pay-off about 20-25% of the time).

And, by being more heavily bet on the ante/play, the vast majority of pair-plus wins (a pair) actually nets you more money ($10 versus $5)... and all of those Ace-high and King-high hands that we get? Most of them will win you $20 instead of only the $10 win with a balance-played '10-10-10'.

It is, of course, still a "house" game, with a high HA...but it's a lot of fun for many of us, and it's relatively "mindless"...perfect for when you're tired and/or a bit inebriated.

That's exactly how I think about 3CP as well. $10 on the pair plus $5 on the 6 card bet if its available and anywhere between $50-$200 on each of the ante/play bets. So when a nice hand hits I win all over, if its just a high card I still can have a winning hand without the bonus. I play Pai Gow Poker the same way. $10 on the bonus and $100 on the hand.

If I forget to raise Q64 or higher in 3CP, I need to be cutoff. Seriously.
