Just for fun, I decided to take a rough stab at how much money CET might make each year from resort fees. Here is my result:

First, I added the number of rooms they have from all Vegas properties (total =23,125).

I multiplied this by an occupancy rate of 80% (the average strip property occupancy rate was 86.9% in 2012, but I wanted to be conservative). This gives us 18,500 rooms in use each day.

I multiplied that by 365 days in a year, and came up with 6,752,500.

Now, the harder part was trying to figure out the resort fee per room. Even though, Platinum, Diamond and Seven Stars are not paying these fees, these people represent about 20% (or less) of people staying at Vegas properties. So the new number is 5,402,000.

From there, I figured at least some percent of people were paying for wi-fi and/or fitness center access. To be conservative, let's say that only $10 increase will be the differential for each room, per day (from the previous ala carte fees). That means they will collect an additional $54,020,000 each year. Not bad!

Now...if they would only use some of that money to fix up the Rio!

The best suggestion for unhappy guests at the CET properties is to show your displeasure with your feet .... :evillaugh

And go where? Personally, I haven't stayed on the strip in forever, but for most Vegas visitors the strip is where they want to be, and it seems like every place on the strip is now charging one.

If someone has displeasure with their feel they should see a podiatrist before worrying about resort fees.
