CET Resort Fees (Update)

The other thread appears to be closed down so I'm posting an update here.

Checked into the Rio today and asked about the resort fees. They advised that Platinum/Diamond/Seven Stars would NOT be subject to the resort fees at any of the Caesars properties.

For those that normally pay for internet usage (that would be me!), this is good news!

This resort thing is great news. I was just venting on another thread about the resort fees. I made diamond in two days a couple weeks ago and would hate to think I get free rooms and still have to pay a resort fee. Might as well stay downtown or at the M Resort and spa (notice the word resort in their title)

Anyway if you are still at the Rio Saturday and up for a meet up, let me know. Part of the group will be camped out at the crap table and we are off to the Ballys Game Show event that night. Back to the crap table and VP at one of the bars after.

Not a bad way to go about it. It is such a petty fee to charge any Platinum, Diamond, or 7 Star members considering the coin in they put in annually not to mention how little this actually costs the hotels compared to what they're charging.

 

Everything is subject to change, but here is the most updated information I received:

For platinum, diamond, and sevenstar members, the resort fee will be waived. However, if such said members decide to "opt-in" to receive such services, they can. Otherwise, it should be automatic that if you are at least platinum, then you are opted out unless you noted otherwise.

For sevenstars, there is really no benefit to opt in as seven stars have always gotten free movies, internet, and access to the gym/spa anyway.

If you are gold, then you do not have such option. You have to pay such resort fee.

One thing about CET you gotta give them credit for is that they tend to take care of their "loyal" customers. Heck, even Platinum members can join the diamond/sevenstar lines for most things in Vegas.

It's not even that hard to get Platinum. Heck, one can bypass plat and become diamond with DIAD.

While lots of their employees may not be apprised of this new policy, one thing you can take comfort in is that with CET, most of their policies apply across properties, so there is no guessing.

Lastly, one reason to have a good host is that a CET host can always waive this too, but this is kinda a moot point as you are most unlikely to get a host if you are not even Platinum.


With MGM, places like Bellagio, Mirage, MB do not charge resort fees on comped rooms, but places like Luxor, Monte Carlo, and Excalibur they do charge unless you get it waived or comped off.

 

If this is true and Platinum, Diamond and Seven Stars get this charge waived, then I am all for it. It only really affects the freeloaders and cheapies anyway, so I say bring it on! It might actually improve the experience for the real gamblers...

 

Well that's a bit harsh! Just cause I only get to Vegas every couple years and don't gamble huge amounts does NOT make us freeloaders and cheap!

 

The freeloaders aren't getting comped rooms to begin with = no freeloading

 

This is a bit confusing, as "waiving" the fee and "opting in/out" are NOT the same thing.

If the fee is waived, it means you get the internet/fitness/etc/etc and don't pay the fee.

If it is a fee not charged to platinum by default but they can "opt in", that means you don't get those things without the fee, but you can dodge the fee.

So which are you saying here?

 

To me it reads,

If you are at that level and don't want the services, you won't have to pay for them. If you do want the services you will have to make mention of that and then pay for them.

Any lower level pays for the services whether used or not.

 

Sure we are Or at least we were. Or at least some of us.

 

Do we have any documentation of this. I was going to rush and book my room for July before March 1st, but if I can opt out with my diamond card I will wait.

I know I can book now and cancel, but I am convinced that if I book for July now, the computer will not send me any better offers since I am already booked.

 

I don't think this is true. For one, the computer doesn't know and has no reason to believe you wouldn't be interested in booking another trip in the same time frame, especially if they sent you a good offer.

Anecdotally, I booked our May trip recently for the same reason (to potentially avoid the resort fees) and I now have offers for the exact days of our trip that were not there when I booked.

PS - I e-mailed my host to ask about if Diamond could opt out or have the fees comped and I haven't heard back yet, but will post when I do. I'll also be asking her to add the offer onto my existing reservation...

 

I'm wondering what happens if during a trip you go from Gold to Platinum or Diamond do they waive the fees when you're checking out.

 

wlaked over to ballys diamond checkin and spoke to a host and they are also cunfused but this is what i was told.
if you book thru a host resort fees will be comped
if you book on line they will not but if you book using a offer code they might be comped.
there supposed to send out something to tr players by april explaining stuff.
so its still a mystery

 

I assume they are waiting for March 1 when the change happens, and then they'll have some sort of FAQ on the TR site about it, or something emailed out.

You're right, they are getting $17 rooms at Flamingo. You think that doesn't hurt casinos' bottom lines?

 

Depends on how much you were paying for your room. But I will use the term frugal traveler if it makes you feel better.

I only visit Vegas two or three times a year, but I'm Diamond. I expect to get treated better than someone who has gold status, and hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
