I am planning on relocating from Key West to Vegas in June. I have worked the hospitality industry for 20 years and at 47 years old I hope employment will not be that difficult to find? Any help with places to look at and or living would be great. Will not have a car so closeness and public transportation until I purchase a car is key. I am not interested in working in a casino but free standing or corporate restaurants. I have extensive background in serving, bartending, and management. Is downtown a good place to live/work? or is out but Summerlin or Gren Valley ??
Thanks and look forward to any and all info!!

Downtown is still being redeveloped living there isn't very practical at this point. There is a serious lack of grocery stores and conveniences. Summerlin and Green Valley have everything you'd need, but Public Transportation is minimal or non-existent. Without a vehicle, I recommend living near the strip because RTC schedules/routes are most frequent and convenient. There are dozens of afforadable & nice apartments west of the strip from Valley View to Decatur. This is will place you in the hub of RTC routes. Public transit is also good just east of the strip, but it caters more toward students attending UNLV. Corporate restaurants will be an easier find in major shopping areas like Boca Park in Summerlin or off Eastern/215 in Henderson. There are a handful off Paradise near the strip.

I believe our unemployment rate is around 10%. It's not ideal, but it is improving. Even at its worst employers were still hiring, it's just that the positions available were entry level. With a flexible schedule and an upbeat and positive attitude you will find work. Seek out the various company websites to search employment opportunities.
