In front of Ballys? That explains it. The gunman was probably in rage after hearing about their new resort fees.

Reminder for myself: pack bulletproof vest.

They should have rented this instead of taking the cab:

I want to know exactly how running into a cab causes it to explode. That only happens on TV.

If you run into any vehicle at a high enough rate of speed, it can explode. Sounds like the cabbie and any passengers were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, which is awful.

ETA - I believe CaptainRon was due to arrive this morning, and to check into Bally's - I imagine this is impacting him too.

IIRC the cabs (or at least some of them) in Vegas are powered by propane. I believe compressed propane is a bit more prone to explosion on impact than liquid gasoline.

Feel sorry for the people in the cab. Some dude trying to make a living and probably a tourist on vacation :(

Reports are the Maserati has paper plates from out of state. I'm quite curious to see who this is. Who has the money to pay $150,000 for a car drive to Vegas and has the mentality to get into a running gun fight??

My husband is out there for work right now. Imagine my surprise when he posted on facebook about the strip being closed down due to a rolling gun battle and a cab burned to the ground.

I am pretty sure the cabs run on lng instead of gasoline for pollution control reasons. I read that somewhere a while back.

So tragic for the innocent victims. I hope they will find the other car and throw the book at em.

However, let's keep the extreme rhetoric out of this thread. Crime in cities is an issue. It is possible the alcohol and party atmosphere of Vegas might be a contributing factor, but the hyperbole and over-reaction isn't furthering the discussion.

    Thanks.

Sonja, I apologize for my earlier post:peace:

It's sad innocent people have to suffer at the hands of others. Others who don't have respect for life. Sadly, it's seems like it's an everyday occurence thru out the United States. I to hope they find the people that did this and throw the book at them!

That said, Debbie was my best friend. http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2006/Sep-23-Sat-2006/news/9753972.html

Not only did she enjoy life to the fullest, she loved her son Brandon more than anything.
