Yes. Some do. I think they use the don't pass as a hedge against a point seven and then capitalize on a big roll by collecting on the place bets. But there is a flaw in every strategy. I've even seen people bet on the do and don't pass at the same time. ...."head scratcher"... I don't get that one

When I play the dark side, I'm on don't come (DC) all the way in addition to my don't pass bet. It's pretty easy as the odds lay is always the same on 3/4/5 tables, i.e. you're always laying $60 odds on a $10 DC bet. Nice to get the bases loaded behind and see that seven. No cheering, though!

No place bets to lose, only on some internet sites. See the Wizards craps guide.

I usually do it if the tabke is very cold. If its choppy, better off finding another table.

I love when the table is ice cold and you place every number on top of your don't bet. that point, seven-out is the sweetest! I was on one table that went around twice with several point, seven-outs and maybe 1-2 numbers rolled at most. it was awesome.

of course, I also love when the table is hot and you're hitting all kinds of hardways and pressing every number and a shooter just can't miss. basically I just love it when I take their money.

There is nothing better than a craps table that's doing all things right! That includes awesome dealers, awesome players, a hot table, everybody is in a great mood and people are going crazy with excitement!

I must admit that playing the dark side is fun when you have some ***** hotshots that know it all and give you crap for no reason. Load those points up with don'ts with a 7-out is sweet!!

I understand regular craps bets, pass, come ect. Talk to me about the don't pass or ' Load those points up with don'ts with a 7-out is sweet!!'

One reason for doing this is that you can pick which side you want to place odds. You are still losing money(just like every bet outside of odds on the craps table), but you can bet against a 4 happening again and bet with an 8 happening again.

I wouldn't suggest this strategy to anyone as it is kindof a hedge and don't like hedging with the exception of a 6 pt fire bet. :)

You can always lay against any number at true odds for 5% commission. You'll see player frequently do this on the 4 or 10.

And find a casino that only charges if it hits. $25 lay bet on 4 & 10 pretty good deal... Charge a buck when it should be $1.25

Basically, playing the dark side (don't pass) is exactly the opposite of the pass line. Even the odds are reversed.

Example: Instead of getting $2 for every $1 bet in odds on the 4 & 10, you would get paid $1 for every $2 bet IF a 7 is rolled prior to the point.

So if you have nothing but don't bets with odds across the point numbers (4,5,6,8,9,10), and a 7 is rolled, you win.

Yes, you win if a 7 is rolled - you win all the don't bets.

Remember though, if you have a don't bet on let's say the number 9... and another 9 is rolled before a 7, you lose that don't bet. That is the key. You only win don't bets if a 7 is rolled prior.

Since a "don't" is the opposite of a "do," you're gambling that a 7 will come before the number, so yes, every "don't" wager will pay as long as the 7 comes before your number

    DonnyC,

What the players would be doing is betting the don't pass line and then, after a point is established, making a number of don't come bets in order to get behind the subsequent numbers so that a seven-out would pay off on multiple bets. (Yes. It is sweet!)

I think you've gotten this, but I'm just elaborating for the sake of clarity.

Now, as to a proper strategy for don't pass betting:

One concept that will help you as a “dark side” bettor is to never chase a losing bet! What I mean by this is that, on any shooter, after your first loss, either on the don’t pass line, don’t come line, or lay bet is that after you loose your first bet, you make no further bets on that shooter. (Until the dice pass around the table to him or her again, of course.)

This will protect you from going broke chasing a hot shooter. You simply stand with your arms folded until the shooter sevens our and the dice pass to a new shooter. If there is any advice that can help you as a wrong bettor – this is it.

I realize that many will disagree with me, but we’ve all seen this happen: One shooter puts a nickel on the line, doesn’t take odds, and then procedes to roll a monster while the don’t bettors fire their money in, pass after pass, point after point, and go broke. The shooter wins about $60.00 while the dark side chasers go broke and leave the table. If you never chase a losing bet, you will lose peanuts on this type of shooter as you watch a) the other wrong bettors lose their bankrolls or b) the pass line bettors clean up. (You’re sure you want to be a “dark side” player, huh?)

There are, basically, three reasons that wrong bettors lose: lack of time, impatience, and envy.

The player who never chases a losing bet may very well feel frustrated by the amount of time spent standing at the end of the table with your hands in his pockets. (Impatience...did I mention that?) The serious truth is that successful don't betting is a very time consuming undertaking. I'm convinced that the casual player who doesn't fully understand time will have a hard time winning on the don't side. And it it's even worse for those who chase their money.

Take the pass-line bettor. When is the game of craps fastest for him? When he's losing. The call is "3, craps. Line away." The dealer takes the checks and the shooter rolls again. The shooter comes out on a point, throws a couple of numbers and "Seven Out!" Dealer clears the table, and there's a new shooter. This takes place at a fairly rapid pace. There only pass line bets on the layout. Maybe there's time for a come bet, or two, or a couple of place bets. But no time consuming payouts by the dealer or prop bets to pay, either. Yeah, craps is a fast game...when we're losing!

When is the game slowest for the pass line bettor? When he's winning. After a half a dozen passes and a bunch of numbers, all of the numbers have place bets on them. There are come bets with odds in all of the boxes. People are pressing their place bets. Hardways and field bets everywhere, and each number thrown takes 30 seconds to a couple of minutes to pay the players. The right bettor is excited and invigorated, even though the game is at its slowest.

Now, take the wrong bettor: When is the game fastest for him? Just the opposite. When the dice are missing and he's getting paid. This will mainly be on the come out roll for a new shooter, so there won't be that many chips on the table. And if the shooter has thrown for a while and there are place and come bets on the layout, they’re cleared very quickly. Things will move at a fairly fast pace at a "cold" table.

    So, let’s recap:
    The dice are "cold":
    Right bettor: Fast game; losing.
    Wrong bettor: Fast game; winning.

    The dice are "hot":
    Right bettor: Slow game; winning.
Wrong bettor: Slow game; not betting.

Wait! Did I leave something out?

You'd better believe it! Why, it’s the wrong bettor who fails to take to heart the sage advice to never chase a losing bet! He's going to make bet after bet at a hot table and find himself in the unenviable position of: "Hot" dice: Slow game; losing!” (That's the only alternative left. And you’re not going to like this at all.)

So, if you’re going to be a “dark side” bettor, to yourself a favor and don’t ever chase a losing bet. It takes more time. You might very well find yourself envious of the players around you, but you and your bankroll will still be at the table after others who have chased their money away are long gone and have convend a meeting of the "If Only Club" at the bar!

    Good Luck to you.

"Never chase a losing bet when playing the don'ts".

What happens when every shooter makes one or two points and then 7's out? You'll lose EVERY bet you place (the first bet you put on each shooter.)

The betting pattern you suggest means you have to have more shooters that make ZERO points than all the shooters that make any number of points. This certainly isn't guaranteed or even expected. And you also have to dodge the uphill battle of all those comeout rolls with 8 losers and 3 winners.

This will seldom be 'winning' strategy and certainly can't be called a 'proper' strategy.
