That is a tourists worst nightmare, get on an elevator with your wife and have to deal with two street thugs.

One of these days you may see more security and a requirement to show a room key to get out of the Casino and into the hotel quarters.

Scary. Who hasn't ridden in an elevator in Vegas with some drunk and shady characters? This is like the absolute worst case scenario come to life.

So much for my philosophy that being inside a vegas strip hotel is safer than being inside an airport.

Not good at all, looking at the perps records these two should have been locked up long ago and the key thrown away, our wonderful liberal judicial system scores another win. On another note I was highly amused at the moron commenting how as he was a "trained MMA fighter" he would have beaten them both down, that idiot has probably never faced a knife, hell he's probably as trained of a fighter as my year old Pointer pup is actually. Gotta love internet tough guys LOL

All fine and good, but what says they, or anybody else, weren't a guest? Got money, get a room!:poke:

Not saying I don't like the idea of checking a room card before getting on the elevator, but then how is the hooker going to get up there.:evillaugh

Well when checking in they ask how many room keys are needed and guests names...If a guest is not on list ya either have to meet them down there or they call room

During my last stay at the Encore in August, there was a guard doing just that at the elevator bank.

I think you will see more and more of it. This has been a banner year for crime inside of the mega resorts. I have often said a LV Casino is one of the safest places you can vacation, and I still agree, but security may need to step it up a bit.

Simple. Take the hooker to Motel 6. If she's high price, well, taker her to Travelodge next to Harley Davidson.

I really don't understand why they don't have someone checking room keys at MB and THE hotel. Not that this would have prevented this stabbing but I would think it would be a good idea. The only time I have seen someone checking keys at THE hotel was this past Dec when they had a country music festival.

Most hotels do ask for guest names and # of keys.

BUT - most of those hotels that check for keys do not check to see if the key is valid or not, even who has it.

And, even with this checking, a "thug" could get a room and still jump you in the elevator. Right?

My brothers buddys a couple years ago stayed at Luxor and we went to their room with them a couple times. I remembered you had to stick your room key in the "inclinator" switchboard or else you weren't going anywhere.

This story is the reason why I carry a very sharp folding gerber knife or my kubaton everywhere I go while in Vegas.

If I have to ever defend myself, I'm always ready.

Inserting a key in the elevator would not have solved this problem.
I have been on many elevators that require a key.As soon as one key is inserted everyone els can press their floor number.
Security checking the validity of keys is probably the best deterrent but not foolproof.

I always wondered why, with the everpresent security cameras in Las Vegas, there are none in the halls of the hotels.
The MGM Grand is the only place I can recall seeing them.
