Ok the backstory: I'm mid 50's & when I go with my wife once or twice a year we stay at Mandalay Bay (suite) or THE Hotel usually. I then go out once a year with some guys to golf, etc. Everyone is about equal in economic levels, tastes. We've stayed at Monte Carlo the past 2 years because I can get comped for a suite and the other guys don't seem to care where they stay. Plus I like to separate my wife and my trips from the boys trips--which she is on board for.

I just got back from a trip with my wife (THE Hotel--TR listed under Val Day). While there my old host from MB who is now at the Luxor emailed me saying he'd seen I was out there--amazing they can figure that out; how did I pop up I wonder; I mean I get that I'm in the database but how did I pop up on his radar? Anyway he's invited me out with an offer that is better than MC. He said I could get the high end suite there too. I Googled reviews and it seems "ok". We don't spend a lot of time at MC as we golf and then head out to other places for dinner.

So my question I guess is will I be embarrassed if I booked the 8 of us at Luxor? Or regardless of if they want to stay at MC again are there compelling reasons for me to try Luxor? Ultimately we're talking a few hundred in comped difference so that's not driving it as much as staying at the bigger suite at Luxor sounds nice to host them one night. And I guess I could upgrade to Hotel 32 as well, but I wouldn't mind starting up a relationship with this host again as he treated me pretty well at MB. But let's face it it IS the Luxor!

Thanks for any opinions/feedback. And good luck everyone!

Upgrading to Hotel 32 from a regular suite at MC is quite a bit...and that's just to get into one of the regular Hotel 32 rooms, which isn't a suite...it's a very nice room, don't get me wrong...but it's 400+ square feet.

I'm a believer that if you've got two equal options...and I think you do...try the one you haven't tried before.

The MC suites seem to be more modern but I think the Luxor ones are a little larger. Obviously depending on which ones they stick you with. If you and the guys dont plan on farting around on the strip much its much easier to hop in and out of Luxor's parking. I'd rather stay at Luxor if it wasnt for the location so far down on the strip. But even that doesnt bother me much. But I guess it does some people.

I haven't stayed at either in probably 2 years, but they are pretty even for me. Both are outdated. If you get a tower room at Luxor it's comparable to the rooms at Monte Carlo. The casino was updated recently at Luxor though, it's pretty nice.

Really, I don't think you would be totally disappointed at Luxor if you enjoy Monte Carlo.

Agreed. I've stayed at both on multiple occasions. The only time I go to the Luxor is to see Carrot Top, which I've seen the past couple of visits.

The MC has better gaming and better room quality, plus you are a tram away from Aria and Bellagio.
