I love all types of trip reports from motel 6 to cosmo, high to low, dinner to show, slots to pai gow...and I believe most people enjoy variety.

But I get crazy excited about kernels of new wisdom about how to navigate vegas and I am blown away by how much value people receive for so little.

What do you enjoy in trip reports?

I love almost all trip reports. The only ones I'm not a fan of are the ones that are 100% gambling. No food. No shows. No shenanigans. I'm also not crazy about another kind of trip report but, if I say what it is I will sound like I'm in my glass house throwing rocks. Let he who is free of sin throw the first stone, you follow me? But, people who are too cheap. Like, eating one meal a day, at McDonald's with a coupon, stealing fruit from the cheapest buffet in town, making grilled cheese in the room with the iron. I'm cheap and I don't have a problem with the word cheap but those people are on another level.

I don't enjoy trip reports at all and haven't read one in ages. Something in the title has to be quite intrigueing to get me to look at one at all. I just don't get much enjoyment from reading about how much fun someone else had or looking at their photos :snore: To each his own, I guess.

Squidward's recent trip report is just the type I love... I feel like I was right there with him the whole trip. The good the bad and the ugly!

I also love the days when you (sco5123) load-up several good questions that allow thoughtful posts! It provides a nice break from reading about how shitty everyone's comp programs are... THANK YOU!

The trip report section is one of my favorites on VMB.

I must say I am usually attracted to trip reports that are about:

Gambling, mostly low to mid-roller people. Love hearing about craps adventures, VP royals and 4OAK, and slot stories.

Drunken antics, as long as not over-the-top offensive or harmful to people; humorous social situations, accidents, misunderstandings, etc.

Culinary adventures, usually casual fine dining to low-key dives that offer great comfort food. Also love to hear about dining off-strip and off-downtown places where the locals love to hang-out.

Reviews of off-strip hotel/casinos; the rooms, restraurants, gambling options.

Stories of people that go solo; since I'm thinking of doing one someday.

Details of everyday activity, interesting people met, new undiscovered things that were stumbled upon in places we all know, and hilarious people watching stories shared.

Best of all I love to hear of ordinary people winning extaordinary jackpots or having a once in a lifetime winning streak at the tables!

My favorites are drunken gambling (BeeJay, Squidward) and high rollers (nate, shifter, jilly)

I hate TRs that revolve around food and dining, very boring stuff to me.

I like anything with some pictures mixed in. Especially like seeing big hits, jackpots, royals. I also enjoy the gourmet dinner pics. But I pretty much read every trip report on here, and like all of them.

They're all fun to read to some extent. But I do enjoy the degenerate ones. The more debauchery the better!

I like to read about drunken shenanigans (and enjoy any post that gives me the opportunity to use the word shenanigans) and big wins! Squids report was right up my alley! Pictures are always a part of a great TR!

    1. Use of headings and paragraphs.
    2. A few pics to illustrate the trip, but not a pic of every meal and every 4OAK.
    3. Self deprecation over ego.
    4. Weird people met and weird experiences had.
    5. TR's that aren't one dimensional, i.e., all gambling, all food, all alcohol/puke.

i like most trip reports, the kind with a variety. I like to read about people saving and still having a great time. I love to read about the high rollers to dream about one day being able to do a trip (or two ) like that :nworthy:

Pictures in trip reports are great. My favorite all time things to read about are those stories that can only happen in Vegas...isn't that what Vegas is all about...:wink2:

I enjoy reading about how different everyone's trips are from each other's and mostly how different they are from my trips! I don't do TRs about our trips because they are so boring compared to others' trips. All we do is play video poker then go to another casino to play more video poker. When we get hungry, we find a restaurant where we are ~ very seldom do we plan ahead on some place to eat (The Peppermill is usually the exception). Ho Hum, but it works for us!

    I like...
when people see the joy in an ordinary situation.
    nice gambling hits.
    small losses.
    good grammar and punctuation.
the sexy side of Vegas. Sin City.
    what people drink.
    cab prices.
    pools.
good value in a meal, room, show...
travelling tips (taking pic of room number with cell phone, etc).
    celeb sightings.

I know it takes effort and time to write a report worth reading. And I appreciate people who write them for us.

There used to be another board similar to this years back, want to say it was LVOL but cannot be certain. Anyway, there was a guy who went by the screen name puntergoop. he always had the very best trip reports. Would talk about his ride to the airport, plane ride, taxi experiences, hassles with his markers, then the gambling, drinking, and last but not least, the hookers. they were all encompassing reports of a trip from the slightly mundane to the insanely wild. (and he would always add photos!)

Anyone can make a trip report saying how they won $200 in a penny machine or that they walked down to whatever casino, and it's expected in Vegas. The interesting stuff is what you might do on the way there, and how much trouble you can get in to while on the way there. The wild and crazy stuff people don't see...

Interesting people and events that were encountered
    Some gambling reporting
    A little food reporting
    Drunken escapades
Room descriptions if at a property I haven't stayed at yet
Odd sights or really unusual characters (humorous stuff)

The key is to not be one dimensional where the entire TR only covers one aspect of a trip.

I pretty much enjoy just about every TR I read and appreciate the time that people commit to giving us that vicarious entertainment.

First, I like them all. It also depends on the mood I am in. Sometimes I find some reports way to detailed, other times I savor those details. Just depends. I really like the variety too. To me it is fun to go from reading a High Roller report to those persons betting pennies and nickels. Fun to hear the excitement from winning 100K off roulette to someone who is excited about winning $40 RF.

I do appreciate some of the humor and sarcasm in the reports and people laughing at themselves over things they have done. Makes it more real for me.

And I love pictures in the reports. Although I am not a foodie (yes, I am the one that makes run to In-N-Out, lol), I even enjoy the food shots. I especially enjoy it when folks are comfortable enough to include pictures of themselves or traveling group. Makes it more personal to me.

On a final note, I have done just a couple of TR myself, and not sure how others feel, but I love the feedback and comments and questions when I do a report. Always fun to share and be shared with. (don't go there, lol)

    1) I like them in chronological order, with detail, and its ok to omit things like "woke up and showered then got dressed".
    2) Photos are great and add to the feel of being there when I can't be.
    3) Capitalize and use the shift key please, one space after a comma. Two spaces after a period.
    4) Just write almost anything! It's a great way to take a break for a few minutes and read about how someone else does Vegas.
