Am visiting LV from April 14-19 with my wife (her first time on the strip) and don't want to spend a fortune but wondering about best deals for a hotel? We won't be spending much time in the room but want a pleasant and clean, comfortable room.

Seen the offers on here and other places but what's the best deal?

    Thanks. Greg

I think Bally's is perfect in terms of location, price and a decent room.

Deals really can change from day to day, but if you are looking for something not overly priced, stay with Ballys, Flamingo, or Harrahs. If moving up a notch then look at Caesars, Paris, MGM. There are others as well, but some can get pretty pricey such as Bellagio or Venetian/Palazzo. I would check places like tripadvisor and see what you can find there. I will also pm you a link for friends and family deals later when I get time, as the link is in my favorites on my home computer!

Good advice thanks..... Checked and can get Bally's, Harrah's, Treasure Island, Monte Carlo, Luxor and Excalibur on my budget....

Also Circus Circus or Stratosphere and Quad and LVH too but saw more negative feedback on here about them?

Saw good deals in town too at Golden Nugget.....

Forgot to mention in post we are in our mid 40's and like to walk but also will have a rental car. We don't drink (a shock right.... Lol) and don't really gamble a lot like the inexpensive slots though and decent buffets. Interested in the cool "free" things to do as well....

Of your list, I like TI and Monte Carlo the best but both have resort fees. Bally's the best of the CET properties (no resort fee) you listed. Strat and Circus Circus quite a bit off the beaten path.

But try the link below for Paris. I've booked a room there using the embedded code for part of the same week as you for $57/night. It was better than the player's club rate they were offering me.

Those that like downtown really love it But it really is a different atmosphere. I like to do one night downtown But that is all I really can handle of downtown.

I always stay one night At the Golden Nugget. And then spend the rest of my fortnights at a different hotel on the strip.

If you do go for the Golden Nugget And it is during the week, The rush tower rooms are very nice for the price!

I would probably rule out Stratosphere, Circus Circus and LVH. They aren’t in areas where you’d want to spend much time. With all the others you mention, you’ll be able to leave your hotel and walk to several other casinos within a matter of minutes. With Strat, CC and LVH, you’ll pretty much be driving everywhere you go (or taking a taxi or the bus or monorail or whatever).

As for The Quad (née Imperial Palace), you’ll find folks who think it is a decent place and a fantastic bargain. You’ll also find people who wouldn’t stay there if you paid them. But there are several places you’ve mentioned that are within your budget that are far superior to The Quad. I’d go with one of them unless you are really trying to keep the room costs to an absolute minimum.

As for me, I’m with Reston: T.I. and Monte Carlo are the best of the bunch you mention. But, they have resort fees. So, if you haven’t already, figure in another $20-25/night for the rooms there (you’ll get ‘free’ internet, gym access, a newspaper and maybe some coupons for free drinks or something for that fee). If you had not figured on resort fees and that extra money pushes those two above your comfort level, I think Bally’s is the next best on your list – great location and decent (and decent-sized) rooms.

Based on your criteria and the properties listed, I bwould recommend ballys first and Monte Carlo second.

Ballys has old and somewhat dusty, albeit inexpensive and large rooms. Actually, they are priced very good for the size. And by dusty, I do not mean dirty, just everything is worn around the edges. ballys is best for free entertainment because you are right in the middle of the Strip and can easily walk to Bellagio, Paris, Caesars and Flamingo.

Monte Carlo has much nicer rooms than Ballys, is still inexpensive, and is a nicer property overall. It is connected to Citycenter and across the street from PHo and MGM Grand and NYNY. So plenty to see there too, just not as centrally located as Ballys

Thanks for all the great advice! Will definitely look towards Bally's and Monte Carlo or Golden Nugget if stay downtown. Was also checking some great deals at Paris as well. I know Internet is not free there but with my smart phone doubt will need it.

Hope I don't sound too cheap but want to do as much as we can. Few other things although some bit off subject... Are any "local" casinos worth looking at? Where should we not miss to eat? And what shows worth seeing?

    Thanks again...

Having a rental car you might consider NYNY also. That may be a little higher than the deals you are looking at/for but just there basic rate is about $90 a night. Not sure if there are any deals around for there or not.
As far as local casino's, since you have a car I would recommend The M. It's about a 15 min drive down the strip, past the airport. Their buffet is pretty good too if you wanted to grab a bite while you were there. Anthony's steakhouse is really good but pricey. The M is one of my favorite casino's in Vegas. Also, you would pass the Silverton and South Point on the way. Silverton is pretty cool, it has a Bass Pro Shops with it. South Point is okay but I don't think you would be missing anything if you didn't make that stop, lol.

Have you considered Excalibur. I know most people don't like it but personally I dont think its that bad for a lower end place(from the sound of the reviews of the quad its definately a few steps up from there for an extra hundred bucks). Plus since you're not a big gambler or drinker I doubt you are gonna be hanging around the casino all day. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and a decent size. I looked up your dates and its $217 for the stay plus ~$10 a day resort fee. If you can get bumped up to one of their contemporary rooms (i think they were previously called widescreen rooms) they were renovated a couple years ago and they are actually pretty nice.

Thanks gpenguins67.......I am considering there as well the only strip hotel I ever stayed at was actually the Excalibur but that was years ago so I'm sure it's aged just like the wizard and dragon show out front is gone.

Seems they are modernizing all the older casinos too but some of the classic charm was great too.

My main thing is a clean room that's not too tiny and in a decent strip location and some I like are right in that corner like mgm, tropicana, ny ny. And if I'm not mistaken its across the bridge to in/out burger..... Lol

    Gonna be a tough decision.....
