    My Trip Report

Went to Vegas February 3 – February 7, staying at Orleans, Super Bowl Party and crappy craps, mediocre BJ and wonderful video poker.

Got up at the crack of dawn (somewhere) and left @ 3:30 a.m. for the drive to Dallas Love Field. Hadn’t been there since I was about 5 years old and was unsure of the exit off IH-35. It was a breeze and a breath of fresh air to fly out of a small airport with small airport attitude. Left on time and made a quick stop in Midland for the ride to the tarmac in Mecca. Arrived 15 minutes early.

No checked bags so off to the shuttle bus for the rental center. No problems with the paperwork and off in a VW Golf to the Orleans.

It is 10:30 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday and we were checked in quickly and without problem for the 11th floor viewing the strip.

The windows at the Orleans are a bit strange as you can see a lot if you stand at the window and look side to side you see a lot but if looking straight out into the distance you see a straight shot of what it is. Not panoramic. But good enough.

Next I go down to pick up the Super Bowl (BIG GAME) Party tickets for later and head to the casino. Last year all games were amped up minimums from 5 $ to 10 $ or more. This year there were several 5 $ craps and many 5 $ Pai Gow and BJ tables.

Bet the Ravens and over (although nervous as had seen the over at 46.5 and now 48.5) as I felt strongly about the over all along with SF defense at the first of previous games. Also bet Ravens straight up for kicks. Both won and it was a nice pay-out.

Having never been to the Big Game Party I was unsure as to the format. It was great and would be greater if in parties of 8 or so as the tables sat about 12 or so. Food was hot dogs (actually good hot dogs) and pizza, chicken wings, chips of all sorts and guacamole and queso……and bar-b-cue beef sandwiches. And free liquor. And a betting station right outside the door for ½ time bets without going down to the sportsbook.

I am somewhat of a low roller and it was fine for me. My friend’s wife went as he cares little about football but more about craps. So it all worked out. Other venues we passed on the way to the conference area were showing 9 $ buckets of beer and nachos, hot wings and such at acceptable prices.

We left at half time due to the delay after about 25 minutes or so not knowing it was about to resume.

Played craps for the 4th quarter and a bit of the 3rd. The majority of the experience was set point, two numbers, 7 out. It was quite depressing. But it was what it is.

Blackjack had two sessions. One good for 200 $ buy in and cashed at 550 and one at 200 $ buy in that ran down to 80 $. However, there was a happy lady across from us in the next aisle who had 5 $ on the side bet and the dealer had BJ while she had the QQ of hearts on the same hand. It paid 1,000 : 1. She had 5 $ on the bet. Wow…she was on the phone up until the pay-out / confirmation.

We ate well (2x at the Prime Rib Loft) see dessert of apple pie and ice cream on a burning cast iron skillet which made the ice cream boil....and our venture to the Omlette House in Summerlin. I ate the 6 egg avocado, onion, tomato, with charizzo with fried potatoes consuming ¾ of it and was not uncomfortable at all. Did not eat the rest of the day. It was the #14 I think with charizzo added

Losses totaled 450 $ over the 5 days. I used points for the flight on SWA and had the room and food covered by the host(ess). So it cost me out of pocket 90 $ a day and I was quite satisfied although I prefer to come home with = or + money I left with. Like I said, I am a low roller.

The GAMES were 5 $ craps at all times……5 $ double deck blackjack at all times……5 $ Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em at the times we were there to notice (someone had asked about the game in an earlier posting), 5 $ let it ride, 5 $ Pai Gow.

Did a bet for a friend on roulette which was 50 $ on black (it won) 50$ on red (it won) and 25 each on 0 and 00. He lost the green bet but it bounced around the 0 quite a bit so to be exciting for non-roulette players. And I was texting him the progress….”the wheel is spinning…..” etc.

Flight home was timely….return to Enterprise was smooth as usual…never a problem with them….

if anyone knows what this is in front of city center please comment....

    Any questions please ask….
