I am in Las Vegas right now and have found only two of the qr codes so far. The first one is outside the Nine Irishmen, street level. The other one is at NYNY in the middle of the casino by a bar; go down the escalator to the casino floor (big wreath hanging over escalator). Veer slightly left and head towards centre of casino floor; freestanding sign beside a large bar.

There's no specific app. Viva myvegas let's you scan the QR codes. I've heard people are using Photon or Puffin, which are browsers that convert flash to HTML.

I use Photon for my IPhone, and it works perfectly.
Definitely worth the 2.99 to buy the app.

the only thing is, if you don't have access to WiFi, it takes up a TON of data usage.

There is an app for iPad

Yes, there is an app for the iPad, I use it all the time. Just go to app store and search Viva MyVegas, free of course. I actually use my iPhone and iPad to scan the codes they post on the Viva MyVegas FB page.

2D barcodes you scan with your phone like you're taking a picture of them.

if you use the qr code app by myVegas, and look at the map, it tells you exactly where on the map each code is at. Pikabu, did you all stay at the Plaza again this time?

I tried that as I have a Canadian cell phone and if I don't have WiFi at the hotels than the scan wont work. So I thought I'd take a picture and scan it when I get home. However, the app uses location services and when you scan one of the codes in Vegas and you aren't actually in Vegas, it will tell you that your location is invalid for that QR code.

I am kind of lost. What do you get for the QR Codes? If I am making a trip to Vegas would it be worth my time to look for these?

Search for VIVA MyVegas on the apple app store and on facebook. You use the app to scan the codes and they earn you free spins for extra chips or LPs. You can get the barcodes from facebook as they randomly post one every couple of days, or when in Vegas you can find the codes on banners near the entrances of places within MGM casinos. The rewards when you scan in Vegas can be a little bit better from free Minus5 entry, cocktails, or dice/cards.

    Hotel Scans

I see that MyVegas put up a scan for people to scan wit their iPhones and get extra credits. I have heard that they have these throughout Vegas MGM properties and you can scan for more credits. If that is the case, couldn't members that are in Vegas just take a picture and post them here to help out other players? Do they change them out or do they expires?

I saw this question somewhere else and seem to recall the answer was that they use your phone's GPS to determine that you're in the hotel. Otherwise you get a message like "You are not close enough to the location to use this code".

Although I will say, and this is only for a select few people, there are GPS faker apps on the iPhone. You could use one of these to say you were in Las Vegas and it should work, although you would need a jailbroken iPhone for this to happen. Sorry, this just occured to me as I read it, so it probably does not apply to most people! ;(

I used to use one of these apps for watching baseball and getting around the blackouts on the MLB app on the iPhone, worked like a charm!
