Well had my trip planned for March 6th - 11th, but really just could not get any of my hotel offers to line up the way I needed them to. Just sucks since I'm usually the Vegas pro that has everything together  . So i'm looking for rooms and I stumble upon the Quad. Yes I've been in the casino before but never the rooms. Never even stayed in the place a full hour before to be honest.

So I am on the website for Quad and enters my dates......could not believe It came up with 5 nights for only 222$!!! Just about ever place on the strip is 600 on up because some type of Nascar event will be going on while I'm there. I'm an out and about type of guy. I use my room to sleep and shower....maybe drink a couple of coors lights before I head out.

I completely understand that "You get what you pay for." I knew exactly what I was doing when I booked the room. Needed a cheap place to stay and was happy I found that type of place. I go on the yelp reviews for Quad and Just about every review is HORRIBLE!! People making it sound like PURE HELL:wink2: Like people say that their rooms have been broken into, Rooms smell like cow manure, No hot water, You can hear a club all night, No heating or air conditioning. I'm not the picky type at all, but damn this place sounds bad. Don't get me wrong though...either way it goes...I have to go haha.

Now I understand a lot of times people overreact. I personally love the Riviera and Terribles casino, but a lot of people online just love to rip those places to shreds. These reviews sound pretty realistic though haha

So for those who have stayed...is it really just HELL on earth?

I had a room booked there for two weeks out for only $16 a night. After reading the reviews I was thinking that place was a dump. What made me change my mind was that every comment also seemed to mention rude staff. It's one thing to go on about the decor or age of the rooms, but another entirely to have a staff problem... And it was a significant amount. So I booked next door at Ballys for $30 a night. Neither hotel charges a resort fee, so it seemed like a no brainer, especially after reading the reviews for Ballys. (and the staff at Ballys)

I love Ballys. Wish I could have gotten 30 bucks a night at ballys. Easy choice that would have been. Seems like every strip hotel with the exception of Quad and maybe Circus Circus is gonna cash in on whatever Nascar has going on that Friday/Saturday.

Welp if I survive Quad and live to tell about it.............I'll have a hell of a story to tell my future children I guess.

It has been years but I have stayed at the IP a few times. I have stayed in the back building during new years eve and it was fine. Warm water and a bed was all I really needed and it fit the bill. I have stayed in the main part looking out towards the strip and the room was better there but nothing fancy. If a warm shower, working toilet, and a bed are what you are in need of, it works. If you need more, I'd look elsewhere.

    Nope.

I stayed there for 6 days at the end of January (just needed a base to visit Valley of Fire, etc.). My room was quiet, my bed was very comfortable, water pressure was great and everything worked. We had a fabulous view from the 14th floor in Tower 5. Once we knew how to get to the parking lot (confusing because of the renovations), parking was easy. And I found the staff perfectly pleasant and accommodating. We even ate at some of the poorly-reviewed restaurants (Quesadilla, Burger Palace) and not only survived, but found the grub quite decent for what it was.

That said - yes, almost everything in the rooms and in public areas is old and battered, no brand of shampoo on this earth would manage to save the carpets, and you get the very basics and nothing beyond. Think old Motel 6.

Its fine, just having some work done on it.

People see a cheap hotel on the strip and without researching it they book it. They pay a rock bottom price and think they are going to get the ritz.

When they get there are realize they got what they paid for they are upset and write bad reviews. Happens every day.

You will have no problems with it.

    Motel 6 On The Strip

My brother in law and son stayed there last year on a comp I got them (we stayed at the Tropicana). It wasn't "horrible" or "hell"...it was just an older, run down hotel in the Motel 6 category.

It was fine for sleeping and getting a shower...who the heck goes all the way to Vegas just for the room anyway? I want to be on the strip and downtown gambling, not hanging in the room.

Would I rather stay somewhere nicer for the same money or a little more? Of course!! OP got a good price for a lengthy stay...I'd go for it.

Good luck...I'll be looking forward to your trip report!!

There are a LOT of people, myself included who would like to sleep comfortably, not have to wear our shoes in the room, not see hair in the bathroom (or mold and mildew) and would generally love to have a pleasant experience both in and out of the room. Additionally, if you lose your A** in the casino, your one place of joy may just be your room.

If your thinking was universal, then the "Quad" would be the standard of Vegas, but instead it is about the most run down place there is, with almost every hotel being nicer.

It is all about expectations. If you aren't expecting The Wynn, you will be fine. The room is overrated in Las Vegas. For the amount of time most people spend in the room, The Quad will be fine.

I should note that my first few trips 10 years ago were at the IP, we have now "matured" to the fancier properties as a couple, but when I go solo the IP fits my needs. I will be staying there for March Madness and I'm sure it will fit my needs once again.

Like others have said, it is all about expectations. Mofos expect everything in Vegas to be glitz and glamour but they book a room in a cheap, old hotel at a cheap rate and they expect luxury. How dumb do you have to be. If you did not book a room at the Wynn or Bellagio, why would you expect that type of luxury?

Yes, the Quad is old, yes the rooms are not much, yes the carpet will be dirty, yes, the elevators may be slow, yes you may find a stray hair. But, there are plenty of negative reviews on the internet that point these thing out. It is not like people are not warned about these things. So after reading all of the negative reviews, why would you book a room at the Quad? You already know what to expect. People just want to bitch and moan about something. Everybody else is bitching about the Quad, so they feel the need to bitch too.

For a lot of us, the Quad will be just fine. It is what it is and it serves its purpose. If you want more, all you have to do is pay more and go somewhere else. Simple as that. Nobody is forcing anybody to stay at the Quad.

Nascar doesn't just have "something going on" that weekend....rather it is Race Weekend at Las Vegas Speedway. The race clientele tends to fill the lower tier properties up first (i.e. Quad).
As for the Quad -- you will survive. Stayed there many times for guys trips when it was the IP, and we are still alive to tell about it. Like others have said -- it's not special, but cheap and you will be able to sleep.

Besides, if it's good enough for Austin Powers, it's good enough for your ass.

I'm staying there 2/23 to 3/4 .. total price $180 .. can't even touch those rates here in Maine .. so yeah, you get what you pay for, but you also get a GREAT location mid strip .. just don't expect anything other than a place to lay your head ..

    The Quad

Stayed there a couple of years ago before construction started. It was OK, but I didn't like it enough to return despite the low rates. Only place I've stayed in Vegas that rivals it for questionable price/value on the low end is Excalibur. For the money, I prefer downtown, but I'm in Vegas to gamble more than for the night life.

TAKE SERIOUSLY THE ISSUE OF BREAK-INS at the Quad. If you look at TripAdvisor reviews over the years you'll see them with surprising frequency.

A friend of mine stayed there last November. Won $1200 at the craps table, went to his room and went to sleep, and in the morning found out someone had entered the room and stolen all his money. He didn't realize it until he went to pay for his meal the next morning and his wallet was empty. He had some of his money in a briefcase, and when he checked that it was gone also. Lost $1700 total. The rooms do not have safes, unlike most Vegas properties.

Definitely appears to be an inside scheme, since if you look at reviews people pretty much report the same thing on the break-ins - at night while they are sleeping. He reported it to hotel security, who was less than interested (got the "Yeah, right buddy, how much did you have to drink?" reaction. He is a light drinker). I wouldn't stay there without a portable door lock and/or alarm, both of which can be bought cheaply on line (I've bought both since my friend's experience).

Funny, I was told on the phone that they do have safes. Can anyone who has stayed there recently verify this?

There was no safe in my room ("deluxe" room). Perhaps there are safes available at reception, but with the often long lines of people waiting to check in they wouldn't be very practical.

Yes you will survive. I have stayed there several times but that was also years ago. Like you, I was just looking for a bed and a shower at a cheap rate. My only complaint from my experience was the water draining extremely slow from the sink drain or shower drain, or not draining I should say. Other than that it was fine. I haven't been in the place in years but I always found the staff pleasant and friendly. Now they are remodeling I believe so expect some construction noise and of course there is the construction outside for the Linq project as well. Have low expections and maybe you will be a little surprised...maybe! All in all, I think you will be fine there.
