Usually I make a quick decision on where to stay. In the past I have stayed at NYNY, Imperial Palace, TI and Signature Towers at MGM. Except for IP I enjoyed them all. IP, loved the location but the room was old, and the hallways reeked of smoke.

This Christmas myself and two girlfriends are going to Vegas. We will need two rooms. One room with two queen beds for myself and one friend. One room for the third friend.

The third friend travels on a higher budget so we'll base our stay on the budget for the room with 2 beds, and the other friend said she'll book a king where ever we chose to stay. Although she does like a bit of luxury.

One friend was in Vegas 20 years ago and stayed at Circus Circus, the other has never been.

My only guideline from my two friends (who are flying in from Aus) are midrange hotel - rather spend their money on doing things that on the room.

    So where do we stay?

    Considerations:
    Stay on Strip
Want "Vegas experience" so not Vdara
Catch a show - probably Cirque
    Day trip to Hoover Dam
    Shopping
Some gambling - but just slot machines
    Basically explore the strip
Eat a lot - Mon Gabi's, Grand Lux Cafe, Earl of Sandwich, Max Brenner
    No car
    It's December - pool doesn't matter

I know it's kind of early to be booking for December.

I think I have narrowed down our options to Planet Hollywood, Flamingos or Caesars.

As of today the cost for 1 room with 2 queens for 4 nights comes up on their websites as:
    FL Go Deluxe $280.00
FL Go Luxury with view $344.00
(do the Go rooms have 2 queens?)

    PH Hip 2 Queens $348.80
    PH Mountain Luxury $396.80
    PH Resort Room $460.80

CP Roman tower 2 doubles $500.80
CP Forum tower deluxe 2 queen $564.80
CP Palace tower deluxe 2 queen $596.80
CP Augustus tower deluxe 2 queen $660.80

The FL is a great price and fits our budget with room to spare leaving us more money so spend on food and drink and shows and slot machines. But will it be too un-luxurious for the third friend?

The CP is at the top of our budget.

So do we split the difference and go with PH?

Id consider Mirage or Mandalay over Caesars or even Planet Hollywood. While the location is better at PH the rooms/restaurants/gambling are better at Mandalay. There is a $25/night resort fee at Mandalay and Mirage it does include wi-fi and since your friends are from out of the country the resort fee is way cheaper then using their cell phone data plan to get to email, facebook, etc. Despite Mandalay being far south strip there is still plenty to do down there and its just a couple of bux to get center/north strip.

Paris? She can spend extra for her room and get a Bellagio view?

As always when folks ask, Mandalay may be nice, but not center strip.

The week just before and up to Christmas seems to be the most generous for CET freebee rooms. We're both very modest players and we often swing back to back free rooms there in that week. Lately we've been staying there and playing with another couple down at Sam's Town, so I'm afraid this may dry up. :(

The Monte Carlo is not showing any availability for our dates Dec 22nd for 4 nights.

Mandalay would be very nice, has rooms available but is too far, would like a more central location.

Mirage is available. At $422.00 for a deluxe 2 queen room it's reasonable but then add the $100.00 of resort fees and it puts it at the top end of our budget.

Internet access is not an issue. I have a mobile hotspot, and neither of the Aussie girls will be interested in checking their email or FB etc. They're old school.

For you, it sounds like you would be best at center or north strip. Paris may be what you are looking for in terms of location, price point, etc. It is center strip, so that would give you flexibility on walking distances. Another possibility for you would be Mirage (that does include a $25 resort fee).

If weather turns extra cold, there are lots of nice options inside Paris. Then inside walk to Ballys. And somewhat short walk over to Planet Hollywood mall.

I would also suggest Paris, great location and good food options. I was not impressed with Monte Carlo ( I know you said they showed no dates ), I thought the bathrooms were not as clean as they should've been and the casino was nothing great.

I did look at The Paris.

My concern is the Red rooms only have king beds, no queens, and I've heard nothing but bad reviews about the blue rooms. I

know we wont be in the rooms long but we'd still like a reasonable room.

MGM. You can catch a bus to Hoover Dam from one of the tour companies that picks up right at the hotel. You're walking distance to PH for Earl of Sandwich.

It's really reasonable around Christmas you should be able to stay nearly anywhere. I would wait!! There won't be any promotions that go out that far yet. You will definitely overpay. Or book something you can cancel.
