We have a limo booked for round trip to the Trop in May. But we want to stop at a liquor store and the Vegas sign on the way. The limo company says we probably won't have time for both.

If we book an hour and a half upon arrival is it $107.00, the way back is $55.00

If we book round trip with only an hour from when the plane lands it is $132.00

Would you get limo service both ways or would you just take a cab to the airport instead of the limo. I'm not cheap, but $55 for a 10 minute drive just isn't sitting well with me. I keep thinking I would rather USE the time in the limo.

What do you guys (and ladies) think?

I'd hit the sign. And then if I was at the Trop, I'd walk to the liquor store, because there's one not much more than a quarter mile away. And if it's hot out, you can always cut through the MGM.

This might not be a complete answer to your question, but rather a suggestion...

Newly-opened (within the past couple months or so) at the airport, right near the baggage claim, is a liquor store! Assuming you know exactly what you want and can hit it real quick, you might want to skip the trip to the liquor store in the limo and just stock up there, right when you land and/or when one of you is still waiting for luggage.

Hope this helps. Something to consider.

Personally, I never bother with a limo to the airport. I always get one from, but just don't see the point. Usually for me, I am just ready to board the plane and cant enjoy and extra luxury anyways. I just want a ride.

Do you know if they sell the higher end champagne and wines? It is our 12th anniversary so we are looking for the good stuff :)

After talking to hubby, he also wants the limo to take us to another casino after we drop off our bags, so it is looking like we will need the hour and a half anyway.

    That's what Im thinking too.

The more I think about it, the more I think we will just take a cab back to the airport. The $55 for 10 minutes just gets me Kwim?

i beleive they do have higher end champagne and wines. But they're prices are inflated. I stopped in to take a look on my last trip and I was less than impressed wtih prices. 6 pack of domestic beers were around $12-13. Hard liquors were 150-200% of liquor store prices.
I was expecting the prices to be high but not that high.

Trop is about the closest casino to Airport. Very short ride.

As to dropping bags and going elsewhere... depends on how long to drop bags. If Valet is cool, short. If they make you check in... well... who knows.

Depends on how far you are going.

    My thoughts would be:

You want a high end champagne or wine... what for?
Is this something you want to consume in the limo on the way to your hotel? Or something you want to save for the hotel room for that night?

    Limo:
If you want it for the limo ride to the hotel then I would just ask the limo company to provide it - they will provide you with chilled champagne and glasses for your ride. For this your ride to the hotel is kind of short so I would probably look to booking more time for a tour up and down The Strip to give time to drink the stuff.

    Room:
If it was for the room for later that night then I would probably consider just ordering it at the hotel and having it sent up to the room. Almost all hotels have some kind of "Romance Package" you can get sent up to the room which is usually champagne and something like strawberries (plus other options are sometimes available like a variety of condoms, lotions, oils, etc).

Checking the prices at Tropicana for what they charge for a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine it looks like they run from $30-400 so there should be something in there that meets your price range and ordering it up to the room will have it sent up in a bucket of ice and with nice glasses.

We want it for the room. I looked online and I can't see a list of what they offer, do you have a link?

We want Cristal. I guess I could call our host and see, but I'm one of those people who hates to ask them for things.

Just an FYI, There is a liquor store walking distance from the tropicana that had decent prices and I think they had decent higher end stuff there as well. Its actually on Tropicana Blvd just past Hooters Casino.. before the next intersection.

snowball... depending on how much you guys gamble (I'm assuming you guys gamble since you said you have a host) I would ask the host if they would give you a free limo ride to the airport when you leave an save you the $50. I am only a gold mlife member and MGM has given me a limo to the airport when I asked my last 2 trips out. I read somewhere that if you are a platinum tropicana club member they give you free limo to and from the airport.

    Here's what we did.

We didn't book the limo in advance, if you do then your 'clock starts the moment you land...not the moment you are in the limo.

We went to the limo line, walked up to the driver of a Presidential brand limo (as that company has great reviews) and told him that we wanted to go to the liquor store, the sign and downtown to the Golden Nugget all in 1 hour.

He escorted us to the payment window (used by all limos in the limo line - numerous companies) and said that we approached him for a ride. He had to say this (and it was true) as he wasn't at the front of the limo line and without approaching a driver you just get the next one in line...just like a cab line).

We paid, he took us where we wanted to go, it was a little over and hour...no big deal, no extra change, I tipped.

The Von's on Tropicana is just a fews blocks east of the airport exit. Going there and then turning around on Tropicana back towards the strip couldnt take more than 25 mins, unless you really dilly dally in the liquor store.
