    I find out it's bottled + brewed in St.Louis -
I just found this out the other day.
No longer a true German bier !:grrr:
    .
I had noticed Beck's being discounted more recently -
    And I bought a 20 pack of Beck's --- ?
    never saw that before !
I should have figured it out......but that move to
    America was kept fairly quiet.
    .
    So, I try a six pack of Beck's Saphire ( 6 percent )
They are marketing this new version, now.
    I tried it.
And all I could say to myself was "why ?"
Indistinguishable "taste".......no taste at all....NO TASTE AT ALL !
    Why ? bother ?
    .
Now, do I remember what the old Beck's tasted like ?
I can't really compare because I didn't drink it much.
I was drinking Heineken -- until I researched Heineken --
and decided I wanted a better brewed bier.
Plus, I thought Heineken was way over priced.
I decided to switch to Beck's.....like my buddy was telling me for years.
    TOO LATE !
    .
Well.....I have plenty of USA handcrafted beers to try.

I went to a beer festival this past weekend and a friend (who lives in Boston) asked me my top 5 tastes - and she didn't recognize any names. I told her - hell, one of the breweries is 3 hrs from me and I'd never heard of it before (and my husband is an active homebrewer so we have a lot of beer around....)

Just so many good craft beers available:nworthy:

Yes there are. But there are also loads of excellent, real central European beers available, as well. But if it is in your grocer's fridge section, mixed in with the MillUdCoCrap, it's just not a good sign.

Had some Yuengling beer when we were in Tampa last week. Not bad, not available up here in the north country. Decent lager.

They claim to be the oldest brewery in the USA, but then you see the claim is based on "oldest, family owned and operated" brewery, founded in 1829.

Quiet is right. I had no idea. And I serve it in my restaurant!

Thanks for the heads up. I am going to pull it and get a real German beer. I serve eight other German beers, but all in the pint bottles. Selling for $6.50 and $8.50. I need to find a 12oz bottle that I can sell for $4.

Hey Big Tip; Is one of your German beers Hefe Weisen and what do you charge for the 16.9 oz bottle?

Made the mistake of ordering a Hacker Pschor one time and it was a 12 oz bottle, instead of the 16.9 oz and they charged me $8!

    Just curious.

They have Yeungling in tampa but they wont bring it to RI or MA. I just don't understand that company. They distribute in upstate NY, all the way up to the canadian border.... they distribute to tampa. But they wont distribute to New England. I know so many people around here who would buy Yeungling over bud or miller products any day and they keep trying to get them to distribute up here but for whatever reason reason they refuse.

Yeungling is awesome. Everytime my buddy goes down to Philly to visit family I make him grab me a couple cases.

If its not Hacker-Pshorr its Goose Island 312, it saddens me that they're Anheuser Busch now but the house of Bud has left the old brewers in place and have allegedly vowed to leave it alone.

I was curious about that too, so I asked a friend of mine here in Colorado who runs a huge beer distribution company for several brands. I asked him if he could get a keg of Yeungling special for my boss' Kegarator. He said they flat out won't sell it west of the mississippi, and he couldn't get it. This is a guy who works in a building with six adjoining warehouses full of beer, each bigger than a football field.

Yuengling is brewed in Pottsville, PA and in Tampa at an old Stroh's brewery. The draft beer is brewed and kegged in St. Clair, PA near Pottsville. Their claim is "Americas Oldest Brewery", but the folks at Molson take exception since Canada is in North America. I read that Yuengling made more beer in 2012 than Sam Adams to take the crown as the top craft brewer by volume. They recently started selling beer in Ohio and they don't want to open new markets without the brewing capacity to support more business.

With that said, the sweetest fruit is the one you can't get, so there is a certain cachet surrounding vitamin Y. If its on special, like $2 a pint, I will go for it. Otherwise, there are too many brews and so little time. Bars love it because they can sell a 14 oz draft for $3 and make a ton of money.

I was a big fan of Becks, and when my local beer distributor started selling cases of 16oz cans for $22, I looked at the packaging and realized it was no longer from der Fatherland, so it was auf wiedersehen meine liebe for me. It tastes different, a little sweeter, and another example of corporate greed on the part of InBev to increase profits by reducing shipping costs and improve inventory turns.

Ask your distributor if he can get a sixtel of Victory Festbier, or Victory Prima Pils, your boss will thank you.

Two Letters: PU, as in Pilsner Urquell.

I had my own beer festival tight here in my living room yesterday.

36 pack of bud light and a sack of doritos.

    G Schneider's Aventinus $8.50 A wheat doppelbock
    G Schneider's Hefe Weizen $8.50
    Weihenstephaner Vitus $8.50 A weizenbock
    Julius Echter Hefe-Weiss-Dunkel $6.50

Yes, all in the 1/2 liter bottles.

I like the wheat beers. The Aventinus is probably my favorite beer in the world right now.

St. Pauli Girl is still brewed at the German ( Beck's-Bremen) brewery.
    I bought a 12 pack last night --
break into it after work, today.
    .
    AV-BEV bought out Beck's in 2012......I read.
    .
Today, the headline is about the Gov't stopping
AV-Bev from buying Modesto's brand in Mexico.
What a monopoly ?.....about 75% of domestic beer in USA.
    I didn't know the Gov't cared ?
And I don't drink any of the 75% !:nworthy:

Victory Festbier is great, one of the best Marzen type Octoberfest beers I've had.
