I know that I have posted quite a few times about being confused as to where to stay :confused2: Well, I FINALLY have it narrowed down to the Flamingo or the Luxor. My sister stayed at the Luxor a few years ago and LOVED it, I went in there last year and thought the atmosphere was great!! They are also running a pretty good promo, 5 nights for only 157.00 Not too bad at all. However, it is kinda far down, where the Flamingo is right in the middle. The Flamingo is 247.00 for 5 nights, so when you average out the resort fee at the Luxor it's about a 10.00 difference. I'm just looking for some "expert" opinions here. I love this messageboard, the variety of people and opinion and the willingness to help others. Thank you for any advice in advance!!!

I'd take the Luxor right this second and don't look back. I just got back from there, I think you'll actually like the location. I'm going to write up a very positive trip report this week about Luxor. If you're going to eat some restaurant meals, I think you might like the dining options in that area more than Flamingo.

Both are good locations with easy walks to other casinos.

I don't see how the Luxor and flamingo locations could compare. The flamingo is center strip, and the Luxor is south strip. The resort fees are going to eat up that 100 dollar difference. I guess it comes down to how well you like the south strip. If you are going to stay down on that end anyways I'd probably take the Luxor. If you want to be closer to everything else I would take flamingo. I haven't stayed at either. I have heard mixed reviews on the room quality of both resorts.

Is your luxor deal for a tower or pyramid room?

Is the flamingo a fab or go room, or just a standard room?

They are both ok for different reasons.

Luxor has a decent vibe and the location is fine if you're interested in MB, Excal, MGM and NYNY. The rooms are decent and definitely more modenr than the Flamingo.

Flamingo has a much better pool and, generally, speaking, a better location if you're wanting close access to a lot of stuff.

Neither placed has particularly good food, alhtough both a have a few options and are walking distance from mnore options.

I stayed at both in years past and would say Luxor is the better option, unless it is pool season and then stay at Flamingo for the much better pool

The Luxor is pretty nice, I haven't been to the Flamingo. The deciding factor should be what to you plan on doing in Vegas. Are you looking into what the hotel offers? Pool, Spa, food or is location key? Since they are the same price I think it's more about what you want to get out of your Vegas vacation. Good luck!

Nevyn ~ the Luxor is the pyramid room and the Flamingo is a Fab room. This is only my 2nd visit and last year we stayed at the Monte Carlo.

The other question is what games you want to play. If you want to play $5 or $10 blackjack, Luxor is a much better place to play than Flamingo.

I haven't stayed at the Luxor, but I had a go room at the Flamingo and loved it. We had a good view of the fountains (which I could watch for hours) and its a great location.

Getting an upgrade from pyramid to tower or even better is very easy at Luxor, unless it is crazy busy.

Luxor in a heartbeat. Center Strip is very overrated if you ask me.

I like Flamingos location better, but there is a lot of construction down there right now with the quad and LINQ stuff going on. I like the pool at the Flamingo a lot as well. FLamingo casino is not very big, but it does its job, last time I was at the Luxor, it seemed like the casino is ever shrinking. I am styaing at the Lux for one comped night in April, but only because I am going to see Carrot Top. I normally would always take a room at the Flamingo before the Luxor any day.

Flamingo is 60+ years old, Luxor is 20 years old. If I had to choose between only those two properties it would be Luxor.

What type of rooms are you comparing them? Pyramid room to fab room or go room?

Also which do you prefer in term of gambling? Do you prefer to play at MLife properties or CET? If you preferred MLife, Luxor will be a better choice since it's connected to NYNY, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, with Monte Carlo & MGM nearby.

We stayed at Excalibur last time and the south strip even though it's not too far from the center, but it's still kind of far. We walked in the morning to center of the strip and did activities there, by the time we were done we were tired and couldn't walk back so we took the Deuce which took forever even though just to go a few miles or cab it.

If center strip is your preferred location, go with Flamingo. If not, go with Luxor.

The only casino I like at that end of the strip is Mandalay Bay so I would choose the Flamingo. I have stayed at the Luxor and did not mind it at all but I had a Tower room. Some friends had a pyramid room and I thought it was a dump....maybe it was just their room.

But honestly it's Vegas and you'll be fine no matter what. But I would personally stay at the place that also gives me closer access to the other places I'd like to go as well.

The Linq next door to the north, Bill's next door to the south, and who knows when they'll be starting with the front of Bally's. That's a lot of construction zones to navigate through, and in my mind negates any advantage the Flamingo might normally have for location. On top of that, it's only a Fab room which is not much more than a fresh coat of paint on a 35-year-old room.

Considering they're practically the same price, I'd take the pyramid.

like yourself I stayed at the Monte Carlo on my first trip years ago. Knowing that I would say Flamingo big time. The reason why is its two totally different Vegas South of PH and City Center, you have experienced that already, now experience how the "other half lives." I will stay South Strip again, but my second stay was at TI, although I will never stay at TI again, I was so happy I stayed there during that trip to experience more of Vegas!
