Wondering how much Caesar's usually puts as a hold on your credit card when you check in?

This is from the total rewards website

    Incidental Deposit -
May be required at all properties.
Charging privileges (in-room movies, internet, mini-bar, restaurants, shows etc.) will require a deposit. A $100 per day credit card or cash deposit will be taken in addition to your entire room and tax. Alternatively, a one time $100 flat fee of cash or credit card may be given, however, to allow only phone and movie privileges . At check-out, whatever amount that is not utilized towards incidentals will be refunded to the guest (via credit card used or cash, however applicable).

Incidental Deposit for Caesars Palace and Rio is mandatory for all guests.
For incidental charging to the room, a $100 per day credit card deposit will be taken in addition to your entire room/tax for the stay (no cash deposits for incidental charging). Alternatively, a one time $200 flat fee of cash or credit card may be given, however, to allow only phone and movie privileges. At check-out, whatever amount that is not utilized towards incidentals will be refunded to the guest (via credit card used or cash, however applicable).

I know at PH you can decline incidental charges and you don't have to leave any form of deposit. Says so on the confirmations they email out

We always carry a couple of credit cards. Holds are never an issue.

Debit cards on the other hand can be a pain. Why people deal with them, I will never understand.

What about comped rooms? I will be staying at Bally's in the Spring or 5 nights and only have a Secured Credit card. Do i need to add a couple of hundred bucks to my balance to cover it? I always pay cash upon checkout and never use the Incidental privileges. When i stayed at IP in Nov., i only had the first night's deposit on my CC.

Not everyone can get a credit card or some people like myself have no desire for a credit card. So a debit card is my option. Yes at times it can be a pain to
"deal" with. But it is less of a pain for me then having a credit card bill.:peace:

You can put a cash deposit at Ballys, or you can decline room charging privileges. Last time out. It took a week to clear the authorization hold on funds, if that's important to you.

Yes, some people can not get a credit card. I do understand that.

Other than those that have no self-control, I do not understand why others do not carry them. We carry at least 4 different ones when we travel. Lots of good reasons to have them.

Here's a twist. You commonly read that debit card holds take a long time to come off. I've had a worse problem with credit card holds lately, but I think I know why. If a hold is put on and no charges are made, it can take up to three weeks to come off. I paid off or had my charges comped off at Monte Carlo, Orleans and Treasure Island, and it took 21 days for each of them to drop off. If I call the credit card company they tell me how much and who it is and when it will drop off. Last time I used a prepaid debit card it took a week to return.

I take three or four cards with me. A combo of debit and credit that I don't need the funds they are going to hold for the trip because I've had my credit cards screwed up by idiots too many times. Another reason why I use several low limit as opposed to the big one that stays at home. Cash isn't always an option for deposits, like Boyd hotels for instance.

Whether you want to carry credit or debit is YOUR BUSINESS and sometimes makes no difference anyway. They can still tie you up.

Most do take cash deposits however, some won't allow room charges just for a cash deposit.

Standard Operating Procedure on their end: Print this webpage out and take it with you and they'll honor it

    https://totalrewards.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/326/kw/room%20deposit%20vegas

They have tried things like that with me in the past and I just show it to them and they go on and go by what it says. They tend not to tell people about the waiving incidentals when you call. I also will email their reservations department on occasion and put the site link in and verify the information is correct. And it was as of 2 weeks ago when I emailed Planet Hollywood with a similar question.

I have 4 rooms in my name coming up on our next trip and ended up getting it in an email that I could turn off incidental charges and not leave a deposit. It also said so on their confirmation sent when I booked the rooms.

In the UK at least, most people prefer to live within their means (on a day to day basis) and have money deducted directly from their bank accounts.

That doesn't mean that loads of people are not in huge credit card debt here.
I don't know why you judge people so much though.

Not sure where you assume everyone with credit cards does not live within their means. We only charge what we can pay for when the bill comes in net month. No debt. No service fees. No interest payments.

As to judging - not so much. I just do not get it. Credit cards make life so much easier. They are an easy source of money when traveling when the unexpected happens. At least for us. I do have one family member that thinks that piece of plastic comes with its own money tree. So, I do get that problem.

I checked into Caesars last Friday. They were gonna hold $200,but I told them I didn't want to charge anything to my room,so they only held $100 for the deposit.

I haven't noticed anything becoming difficult since we paid off our CC's and started using our debit cards. Although our checking account has something called 'ready reserve'. A small loan to cover when the "unexpected happens". So we live with what we have, not what we want, and we haven't noticed anything too difficult befall us.

I went ahead and called straight to Caesar's to make sure exactly what was going to happen and was told $200.00 a day hold on credit card for incidentals or you can also leave $200 cash total in place of a hold on credit card. The $200.00 cash is returned minus any charges made at the time of checkout. That works much better for me. We don't plan on charging anything to room anyway or watching movies or using phone anyway.

In addition to the $200 per day initial hold, Caesars will also place additional holds on any room charges you make during your stay. So, if you charge, for example, meals or spa fees to your room, they will submit them to your CC company as additional holds. Based upon my experience, I believe they do this on a daily basis.
