Bally's Tips

Lay it on me. What are the do's and don'ts. We will be there in 8 days. Any helpful hints.

 

Do eat at Tequila Bar and Grill. Good specials: $2 tacos, $2 tequila shots, $2 margaritas...

 

My favorite casino!!! You must go to Sullys Bar. It's the casino bar right across from the craps table because the bartenders there are unreal!!!! Ask for a North Tower room at check in. You give up the view of the South Tower, but the rooms are larger and much nicer. I have told numerous people this and done it many times without issue. I do the $20 "trick" to get it, which basically means I tell the front desk clerk that I got a 20 for them if them put me in the north tower.

The Sports Book there is decent, with a stadium feel. 3-11 my by buddy Po bartends down there. Go play some VP, have a Povert (his signature drink) and tell him Mack sent you, either way he'll take good care of you. As for food I agree tequila bar has good cheap food, especially good to grab before bed to help curb that hangover. Also if you head towards Paris the Burger Brasserie is on the right and is quite good. Paris Buffet is also right there and pretty decent, especially at breakfast. Try the Nutella/Banana Foster crepe. If you got any questions don't hesitate to ask, I'll do my best to answer.

 

Do eat at Tequila Bar. Do stay in south tower if u love a great view, Ya the rooms r very dated, but I love the view, facing south.

 

Don't forget Stage Door across the street from Sportsbook entrance in the back $1 beers and a great local dive bar to hang out between gamble sessions

 

I agree with the Tequilla Bar, those $2 taco's were awesome.

 

I agree, I always ask for a room in the north tower on the "diamond floor'. I end up with a good side view of Caesars and Flamingo and can see all the lights at night up the north strip.

Take advantage of the corridor that leads into Paris, it makes accessing the strip when you are heading south a breeze. I am almost embarrassed to admit that we didnt see this until our third day at the hotel.

Walk out the north side doors along Flamingo and walk behind the property to Ellis Island for really good cheap food and cheap micro brewery beer.

Thats all I can think of for now. I really enjoy Ballys and will be there next month!!

 

Ooh, I LOVE Ballys. We keep trying other CET hotels and keep coming back there. I second (or third, fourth...) Going to Sully's. One of my favorite Vp bars. Everytime I go, while they can't remember my name, they are always like "hey, welcome back! Absolute and grapefruit, tall with a lime, right?" Gotta love that, lol.

Hints...the little coffee shop in front of the check in desk is awesome for a great cup of coffee, but if you are not there right when they open, be prepared to wait. Charge it and everything else to your room with the hopes you can either get it all comped or use points to pay for it at check out.

The deli in the back corner is a nice place to grab a quick bite. If there is a line, come back in ten minutes and its usually gone. Many times there are really long lines when the conventioneers have a lunch break.

Pay attention to your cards when playing a game on the tables where the girls dance. Hubbie tells me all the time about guys making stupid moves because they are too busy watching the hoochie mamas dance. Lol

I am having a total brain fart and cant remember any names but there is a great hamburger place right outside the casino. A little more down the hall going to Paris is a bar that does an awesome dueling piano show. We try and see that once every trip. But watch out for the timeshare creeps right there.

Down by the crepe place, there is an great Italian restaurant.

Ask for a coupon book, for whatever reason, they seem to be really stingy about handing these out.

To get to Bills (or have they closed for remodeling yet?) dont go out the front doors and have to cross the street on the escalators, use the side door. By the gift shop and cross the street there at the light

I have found great cocktail service at Ballys, jut tip well and they keep coming around.

Too bad you are not going during pool season, I love getting a cabana there it is so unpretentious but still fun

If you don't have a players card, get one, and use it every time you play.

The Eiffel Tower is an awesome experience. Friend them on Facebook and then inquire about reservations. The manager will set up a special table with rose petals for you. If dinner is too expensive, you can just go anytime to the bar for drinks. Obviously the ET is is Paris, but since these two casinos are connected I thought I would throw that in.

My preference is the South Tower for a few reasons. It's easy access to the front valet, strip, Nosh, Keno Lounge, Video Poker and it has GREAT views of the strip. Who care if the room is outdated. Are you going to host? And the $20 trick in the South tower may land you a Grand Suite instead of a room in the north tower.

The best bar is the one in the sports book, as you'll get 16oz cocktails free all night if you are playing VP, and it's never crowded, plus you have easy access to quick foods in the food court.

They have plenty of table games all the time, usually $5 for most. The poker room(area) is small and not many games. The high limits(not really that high) area have dollar slots, great drink service, and is usually empty.

The Pool is outstanding, with a nice bar and very nice cocktail waitress in bikinis.

 

I am wondering if the Flamingo pool is better?

The Flamingo pool is a party pool, they have a DJ playing hip hop music during the weekends and hip hop plays loudly during the week as well. There is a daily "booty shaking" contest at 2pm. They have a hype guy that goes around and works up the crowd and gets things going.

Ballys has a DJ on weekends as well, but its a much more laid back vibe. The pool set up is much different, folks as Ballys mostly just hang at their loungers and chill. People at Flamingo are in the pool drinking and mingling. They are a totally different vibe.

I prefer Flamingo myself. It is a blast.

 

If you want to access the monorail from Ballys....be sure to get plenty of rest, stretch properly, and wear your running shoes. It's a long damn way! LOL.

Maybe, but they wanted to know about Bally's. And while there are other pools, the Bally's pool is pretty fabulous if you are already staying at the hotel.

The pool at Ballys is a fun low keyed one. In the last several years it has gained more popularity amongst a younger crowd with a Dj and games on the weekend. They also always have drink specials. The day starts off quiet. I am always there at opening and always have to wait for towels to be put out. People keep to themselves for the most part but as people start drinking then it becomes louder and more fun. People start bringing their drinks in the pool I've met a lot of people that way and then when we see each other later in the casino the party has continued. There is a roped off part where the pool is deeper and can be used for laps.

I highly recommend getting a cabana. The price is much lower than of other pools and you get so much for it. We always get the bottle of absolute and mixers and then order a cheese tray and a fruit tray. I always end up giving the leftovers of the alcohol and food to the obvious poor college students and they are so happy lol.

If you want a hard core party pool this is not the right pool for you. For a laid back good time it doesn't get better than this. The ages of people there are kids to elderly and everyone of all shapes and sizes. Some hard bodies and some big ol fat men in speedos and no one cares.

After 4 stays at Ballys within the past 16 months here is my take on the property. But first I have to tell this story about what happened last April. Ballys pool for the most part is not a party pool, yes they serve drinks and yes they have a DJ but to be real honest it is not Flamingo or other "party" pools. Anyway it was a Friday and the DJ just started to play music that 80% of the people there could of pulled the plug on, I will say that 10% of the people were under 30, 10% between 30 and 45 and the balance were from 45 to wheelchair bound with oxygen tanks (no lie). Out of nowhere comes this group of very young 20 somethings all decked out in grass skirts, party hats, inflatables, cigars the whole nine yards, yelling party, Vegas etc. They made it to the first row of loungers before they realized, this is not what we expected. It was classic! I almost pissed myself laughing, in fact I laughed so hard the people I was with thought I was seizing. I swear to God I wish I had my video camera.

Anyway here is my opinion on the Ballys pool. I have yet to see anyone rent a cabana and this after spending many a day (from opening to closing) along the waters edge. Ballys pool is not suited for those who want to party hardy, but that doesn't mean there is no drinking, the servers are kept quite busy and the drinks are well made and strong. There is always ample loungers available and if you cannot find one just ask any worker. You will have people with children there however not as many as one may think.
Ballys pool meets it clientele with a relaxed resort pool feel without all the nuttiness one would find at most if not all the other pools in Vegas. Yes people will carry drinks into the pool and yes you will find people partying but this is NOT your typical Vegas pool.

How did this thread turn into Bally's vs Flamingo pool? The OP needed some tips on Bally's, not Flamingo.
As far as rooms, most people will say the North Tower, i prefer the South. Not as luxurious as the North, but the views are fantastic. I have always gotten the South and just ask for a higher room (NO $20 trick) and voila). The South rooms are closer to the Strip , the NOSH snack bar, the coffee bar, and the Reso desk. If you get the North, it's closer to the Sports book, food court, and you can exit Bally's going North on the Strip from just outside of Sbarro's. The Bally's to Paris walkway is in between, so you can linger in Bally's and Paris without leaving the property.
Yes, the Flamingo pool is geared toward a younger crowd, but the OP never mentioned that, so i'm assuming that the pool is not a major factor, and the pool at Bally's is fine. Keep in mind that you can walk from Planet Hollywood, Paris, Bally's, Bill's, Flamingo, the Quad, and Harrah's, and across the street to Caesars Palace and be on CET properties, which is good if you are a TR card holder (i know, Bill's has their own card, but that will change).
I am going to be at Bally's in the Spring, rooms comped, so be sure to get a TR card, and you will be rewarded.

 

The burger place on the way to Paris is very good, imo. I won't amazing, but certainly a good burger. Beer selection is average but that's okay.

 

Don't order the french dip from the coffee shop/deli place beside the elevators to the south tower.
