A friend and I are heading to Vegas in May. We are staying at the Bellagio and I am looking for a place to have drinks before dinner:beer:. We are both in our early 50's so I do not want to go to a place that is filled with youngsters. It does not have to be in the Bellagio (actually prefer out of Bellagio), does not have to be fancy but comfortable and fun would be perfect. Would even like suggestions if the lounge/bar is in the restaurant. Oh yeah, on the strip please. Thanks for your help!

    Cleopatra's Barge @ Caesars
    MIX @ Mandalay Bay
If you do go early for a drink at Bellagio, then Hyde Lounge

If you don't mind a slightly longer cab ride, I recommend Parasol Up at Wynn. Great atmosphere, even better service and top-notch cocktails.

Or sit at the bar at Sinatra (Encore property) and enjoy a wonderful dinner after some great cocktails.

Go across the street to Paris

Check out some of the bars in there,The burger bar in the walkway to Ballys has a nice bar, also Mon Ami Gabi has two bars and also theres a few other places scattered around Paris that dont seem to be overrun with 20 somethings.
Ballys has a nice VP bar also.

Bar Moderno at Aria or Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay.

A suggestion for a bar at Mandalay Bay is foolish if you are going to dinner at Mirage. etc. etc.

With that out of the way, there are about a million bars in Vegas, or it seems. And plenty that a middle age person would be comfortable in. Okay some would fit one type of middle age, and some for others. Again, hard to say what fits you.

As to Bellagio, there are a few nice options. Right in the middle, there is a lounge that is great for a drink and people watching. Another one near checkin, but the piano player is a bit loud there. The Sports Bar is not bad, more to casual. Olives has a bar, but it can get busy.

Again, hundreds of ideas, but it all depends on factors like:
    * where is dinner
    * do you want to be at the same building as dinner, or a walk
    * do you want casual, sports bar, elegant, fancy?
    * happy hour pricing, or no care about pricing

For you 2? Parasol Up or Parasol Down at the Wynn. You'll thank me later

I have to trifecta Parasol up or down. If I chose between the two I would choose down and sit outside.

If you decide to stay at the Bellagio there are Petrossian Bar and Baccarat Bar.
