Last night VegasTripping revealed the results of the Trippies. (We were robbed!) and I thought it was interesting how much love they had for the Cosmo. Our reviews here seem not to quite sync up with what they had, excluding BeeJay's recent love affair in the last few weeks. Anybody else surprised by the results?

Going through it now, my first shock was the editors calling Caesar's the best hotel. I liked my Forum tower room fine, but didn't find the service or front desk particularly good.

The editors also seem to currently have a serious hate on for the Wynn.

I never liked VegasTripping -- they come across as posers and marketing shills. Hard to explain but there's just this underlying streak of patheticness in their posts -- a cross between apple fanboys and the green chip player who thinks he's a High Roller.

I'm suprised editors choice for best slots was The D

I have dumped a ton of money in that place even when it was the other name..

Never never won anything to be proud of..Oh same for them saying The D has best video poker..

After reading this I do need a drink

I think the Cosmo love has been similar on this board as well. Their casino is awful with extremely high minimums and from what I understand a horrible record for comping. This doesn't mean the rest of the hotel is bad. I still see a huge number of recommendations for the rooms at Cosmo. The clubs are some of the best, and the bars are the best as well. I've never been unsatisfied with any dinner I've had in Cosmo either. So if you are willing to pay for it, Cosmo is a great place.

I don't even know why Casino Royal is an option in worst entertainment. Most people probably don't even know they have entertainment.

Vegastripping certainly is in love with the D.

Worst service is at Wynn. I got a nice laugh out of that. :) Although honestly that category is just bad. They are combining value and service which you just can't do.

Thanks for posting that, BlueSkadoo! It's not a surprise we wuz ROBBED (again), but some of those others seem strange.

These surveys are always fun to read because it gives some interesting insight.

I stopped paying attention to them when they gave Bally's the award for worst rooms on the strip last year (really? When Imperial Palace is still open?). As for the Wynn hatred, I suppose it supplants their Maloof Brothers "Plams" joke they thought was so hysterical last year.

Agree VMB was totally robbed on best community. I love Five Hundy as much as the next guy, but not a whole lot of action on the Facebook Fan Page compared to here.

I understand why the "D" is getting results, they are catering to the social media and internet crowd. I enjoyed my recent visit there, well what I can remember of it. I don't recall being overly impressed though. I am guessing with Derek Stevens giving the podcasters so much attention, it is hard for them not to like him. The downside to all the Golden Gate/The D improvements is worsening video poker paytables, which was our initial reason for going down there, so I'm not sure yet how I feel about these properties.

I am in complete agreement with the Cosmo love and Wynn hate, but I suspect that could be based on my own anecdotal experiences more than anything.

Cosmo gives zero host service and isn't casino-centric, but when we were there they had full, fun $10 craps tables going all weekend. Occasionally it was $15 during prime time but that is no different than anywhere else. It was never $25 minimum. They comped all but $22 of our recent stay (2 nights base room/2 nights wraparound) although this is deceiving because we had the cyber monday discount on the wraparound. Cosmo also had some horrific bar top paytables, of course it doesn't matter when its raining quads instead of 7/5 full houses/flushes, but it does have me thinking about completely abandoning the strip going forward.

Wynn with all the club tools is a bad thing, but honestly, for me as soon as bar top drink comps were gone in 2010, I was outta there.

Caesars Octavius tower experience was similarly great for me. But I went during an off time and I wouldn't expect anything from CET when its busy.

Despite some minor disagreements with the conclusions of the Trippies, I am on the exact same page with these guys in the overall theme that the strip and some of its better properties are really losing their ability to draw me in. I also feel "Vegas Homeless" to a strong degree right now. As Vegas makes its comeback and prices increase while service decreases and the gambler is no longer courted, it feels more like a place I don't fit in.

Encore's floor blackjack is not as good as Wynn's, nor Aria's. HL is fine but all the HL's have good rules.
VT really has a tendency to group think.

I'd be hard-pressed to find a better community than T2V, and yes I am familiar with the loyal support of the "fivehundy" crowd.
