I'm wondering how many of us automatically cash out when we get a nice win or just keep on playing planning to stop at a certain amount?

What I normally do is I cash it out, and start fresh with another $20. When i'm on a hot streak my wallet ends up filled with some nice vouchers! :)

I'm pretty consistent. On VP i don't stop i keep going as to me it's more a long term game.

Luckily for my bankroll im a hit and run slots player. When I have a hit I usually go down to the next time my balance is a multiple of $20, OR if im within $40 of my starting point ill go down to that. I almost never stop right when I hit, and on pennies I'll even do the whole 2 lines, one penny per line thing to get down to EXACTLY the next $20 multiple.

    Theres my story!

I've done both. In my history just cashing out would have saved me hundreds over my 40 years of traveling to the Mecca. I have seen others that keep winning after a big win but that has not been my experience.

I cash out and then start back over with my base money. For me, it makes it easier to limit my losses and keep the gains.

The ultimate question is "when is a nice win?"

I do both. Mainly depends on the game and how it is going... like if I am playing a machine and its just sucking up my money and then I hit a huge win to win it all back and then some, then I'll just cash out right there and move on.

On the other hand, if I sit down and I am doing well and hit a nice win, or a bunch of small wins that add up to a nice overall win, then I'm going to keep playing - why leave a machine I am doing well on?

Either cash out and start fresh with a new buy-in or simply set an amount and will cash out when it gets down to $x.

That is the million dollar question! If only we knew when a win was nice we could all beat the house all the time because any amount you win starts to look really nice after you start to lose it. The casinos know that most of us just want to try and win more. Table games are harder for me to leave when I'm up then machines. Sometimes I think the dealers and other players will think I'm a coward -- its stupid I know but that type of thinking goes through my head. That type of thinking has cost me quite a bit :(

Any time I cash out ahead at a table game, I think the other players and dealers are looking at me with admiration, not disdain. After all, you HAVE to do this if you ever want to be a winner. All that being said, just because I'm ahead doesn't mean I'll stop playing.

My wife cashes out all the time, even if staying on the same machine and starts over with a new $20.

Me, not so much. Planning to stop at a certain amount for me is just a theory. I usually blow right by it.:bang:

One time I hit a hot machine and ran it up to $1,100 dollars and didn't cash out. Then every time it went over $1,199, it would spit out a ticket for the difference. It was like having a personal ATM machine! In the end, I think I had somewhere around 20+ tickets. That was fun!!!

If I double up my budget for that session, I'll cash out, pocket my original budget and play the rest until it's gone or I double up again.

When I "hit", I take the money and run. I stash all my winning tickets until the end of my trip and cash them in.

Going home with money feels good!

If I hit a nice one I will decide to play it down to X amount and then cash out, both for slots and table games. I'm good about honoring that amount. If I keep winning I move the amount up, but always have that number to get out ready to go.

A lot depends on how early in the trip/ session it is for me. If I'm at a locals casino(Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun) and its almost time to leave, I'll take it and run, but usually after playing to an even dollar amount.

I have a quirk where if I run up a nice win at the tables I don't like leaving with a round amount. I keep my gambling money and my spending money completely separate so for example if I win 5k and want to walk I'll try getting up maybe 300 more so I can tip the dealer another 100, throw 100 away on roulette or a slot, and add 100 in spending cash to my wallet. Then the 5k win is a nice round amount I keep separate. I can definitely recall times when things took a bad turn when I tried to just win that little bit extra. At video poker I'm better at cashing out after a win but its mostly because I get restless at those machines pretty quickly anyway.

I might sound like a cheapo, but I cash out at $50, usually, depending on the denomination. Then put another $20 back in, after it takes that 20, it's time to move on.

    It depends.... :)

I have 2 very different ways I play slots.

    1) Get 5 20s, and play rhrough each 20 once(ie $20 worth of spins) and cashout. I also cash out if I get to $25 or higher.

    2) I just want to play slots. At this point it just matters if I'm having fun, and if drinking are coming. Generally I'll play down to a certain level and then decide again. Even if I leave, I know I'm just going to play another slot. So if I'm having fun at this one, why leave? :)
