I am a CET plater, and will be staying at Planet Hollywood. They give good rooms and a good comp, but I would like to have more options, particularly in a place where slot and video poker isnt so tight. Obviously Rio is out as I can get comped there if I want, and it is still CET tight. I ran into Palms my last trip but since it is owned by CET I thunk that would be counter productive. I have been in Ellis Island and Terrible's. Slot play seemed more favorable, but not as many options so I would want a bigger casino. Pools are not a factor for me. Just a decent room and a safe friendly casino with pretty good drink service. I might be interested in Orleans or gold coast or perhaps south point. I tend to stay in one place most of the time so when I want to go to the strip a cab is fine since it will be only a few trips. Any suggestions?

I think you'll find the droids you're looking for at Orleans and Gold Coast. Both are Boyd properties, with both decent and very good VP paytables. Plus, they have a shuttle to the strip, saving you cab fare. Orleans is the larger of the two, and there are many more non-gaming options at Orleans (arena, movie theatre, comedy club, showroom, bowling, etc).

I was thinking about those two. It helps that Boyd has multiple properties across the US too.

I have only been to goldcoast and their offers are quite good for how often I have been there. I am a slot player and have to say their slot payouts suck. I can never get a thing there I am basically just donating. Drink service was ok not the best. The best part of goldcoast is the El Cortez. Omg that restaurant is fabulous. The staff are amazing the prime rib to die for. We ate like kings there they were willing to make us any kind of drink drinks they had never heard of they made for us. I fell in love with that restaurant and the staff. They are a class act in there. I can't wait to have their food again.

I havent tried orleans or station maybe end of january when we arrive in vegas again for a week.

I just won't be playing slots at Goldcoast. 2x's is enough I might as have thrown it on the ground.

Boyd would also give you options downtown at MSS and Cal. Both generally with better VP than you can find on the strip.

I don't have experience with it myself, but a few family like South Point. I'm just not a fan of solo casinos that I need to drive to or take a cab.

Orleans, or if you want something fancier, and don't care about being near the strip, M Resort.

Looser slots = South Point, but they are stingy on their marketing comps. Never get anything good.

Because it seems you are looking for pretty liberal comps with a fairly close proximity to the strip I would echo the suggestions to try the Orleans. It was my home base for quite a while after I left the strip.

I stayed at Gold Coast last trip and had a good time. The slots aren't loose but I didn't get chewed up there, either. But the one I am really falling in love with is the Silverton. I could play there all day on fifty bucks if I wanted to. I don't know if I will ever get a comp offer from them but the discount rate emails I get are worthwhile.

Our favorite is South Point...the dh gets bored after a few nights there however. They have a pay shuttle to the strip. Our slot $$$ last about 5x longer than CET properties (where we also stay comped). It takes awhile to get mailers from South Point, I don't think a few hours will do it. My mailers are only for 2 nights at SP and come with Resort $ and Free Play. Their comps however are limited to just that one property. I have stayed at Gold Coast and they do give you more options with Boyd Properties, their slots paid better than CET the 5 times we have played there. We enjoy Eastside Cannery and Sam's Town out on Boulder. If you want to start staying far from the strip you may want to invest in a rental car.

I second those. They are off strip, but have great strip location using their shuttles or a city bus. Cab rides are cheap. Of the two, the Orleans has the nicer rooms, but the Gold Coast has the nicer video poker. I am a very low roller and have two free weekend nights that could be used before April at the Orleans.

Try to book these using your B connected card on that site. When I do, so far, the resort fee has been promised in the fine print but not charged. For the math, Orleans is $6 and Gold Coast is $3.

I second trying the Silverton, they run a shuttle to the airport and the strip. Its about a five minute drive to the rental car return, they have large drinks with great service. Every employee seems to like their job. Our low rolling gets us free weekdays, and low priced weekends. With credits to eat or play. My wife can jump around on the slots, and make a hundred last all day. Every trip they have a different promotion going, that we win something on. Plus there’s a Bass Pro shop, to wander around in if your taking a beating. We end every trip with 2-3 nights there and never want to leave.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I may visit Orleans and Silverton my next trip out. I'm not counting on getting offers from first go around, but I am curious about them.

I really need to check out Silverton on my next trip. I keep meaning to go, but never quite make it there.

I was looking at the pics and reviews for Silverton on yelp. It has been moved to must see for me on my next trip. I may take half my bankroll there for a day of gambling. The rooms look very nice.
