I've been reading this forum for several weeks...extensively to say the least! Lots of great content! Here are my details and request:

2 Married Couples - Early 30's - both have children (who will be home with grandparents!) - First time trip for everyone but me (Husband 1)

Staying at Mirage 3 nights (but with early arrival and late departure, 4 whole days)

I'm trying to put together a great itinerary for all of us that will keep the wives (who aren't really gamblers) happy and make some fun memories for the rest of us.

Would love to get your following top 3 answers for each catagory:

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included)

    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per couple

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas?

    5. Best Romantic Activity (not in a hotel room)

    6. Best Nightclub for Couples

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas

Thanks in advance for all your help!!! We leave January 30th! I'll post a detailed Trip Report when we return to let you know how it all worked out! YEAH!

    My advise

First of all.... forget all of your plans because when you get to Vegas things will not work out as YOU planned. You will accomplish some of the things you plan but not all of them.

But if your friends have a Sheep personality then they will do everything you want to do.

What is really important is to make plans to meet once per day either for breakfast or dinner time, or evening.

Don't worry too much.... things will work out okay. Lucy

ok so seeing as ive been 10 times (as a couple alone & with other couples) I'll just give you what we thought was good but again the plans WILL change but that's half the fun anyway.

    Hope that helps anyway.

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast
    Paris buffet

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included)
Hmmm, < 50 for a couple isn't much. Maybe Toby Keiths

If you are flexible in definition of on strip I'd say Ellis Island

    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per couple
    Delmonico

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas?
    Fremont St Experience and concerts

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas
    Bellagio Fountains

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast: the cafe in your hotel (everytime Ive been to vegas Ive stayed at a different hotel, each time we have breakfast at the cafe in the hotel -have yet to be disappointed)

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included) Not the strip but 2blocks off, IN-N-OUT burger

    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per coupleTop of the world at Stratosphere

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas? People watch, Like LucyR said - forget everything you planned to do. If you spend your vacation trying to keep a schedule you will be stressed and probably disappointed. I get a kick out random things I see happening, I think its the best free entertainment there is in vegas.

    6. Best Romantic Activity (not in a hotel room) See #6 (standing out on the balcony together)

6.Best Nightclub for Couples get to either ghostbar at palms (slighly off the strip - probably a $9 cab ride from your hotel) or MIX at Mandalay Bay. Both have amazing views, but ghostbar never disappoints. Absolutely go to one of these bars, you will be glad you did.

I always make plans and then bail on most of them but part of the fun is the planning! I don't know that these favorites are my all time favorites but, here are some of my contenders.

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast - Bouchon or Olives (brunch)

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included) - Holsteins

    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per couple - Scarpetta

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas? - Just walking around, taking it all in

    5. Best Romantic Activity (not in a hotel) - Cocktails on The Lake of Dreams at Parasol Down (Wynn)

    6. Best Nightclub for Couples - yep, I've got nothin'

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas - A trip downtown.

If you want something free and romantic go to the Venetian and watch the gondolas inside. We got to see a wedding on our last trip and if you are looking for something for the girls then hit up the wax museum-Madame Tussauds, that is out front. I also love the aquarium at Mandalay bay. If you go downtown you can spend time walking Fremont. The Grotto at Golden Nugget has a great view of the shark tank and the price is in your range. Make sure to hit up the souvenir shops while your down there, cheapest prices you can find. We also enjoyed the Flame at the EL Cortez. Definitely DONT plan on an itinerary because it never works out the way you want. also DONT forget comfortable shoes.

Most of my favorites are already mentioned, but I guess it's still valuable information when more people say about something that it's good.

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast
    > Paris buffet

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included)
    > #1 Cheesecake Factory (so much choice! check out their menu online to get an idea)
    > #2 Paris buffet (very nice setting and original food choices) or Spice Market buffet (original food choices)
    > #3 Hash House a Go Go (good food, huge portions, reasonable prices)

    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per couple
    > #1 Mon Ami Gabi at Paris
    > #2 THE Steak House at Circus Circus
    > #3 Sterling Brunch at Bally's (just to do ones for a special occasion, cause it is ridiculously expensive - 85$ - for a meal that's not even a dinner)

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas?
    > #1 Fremont Street Experience - Downtown
    > #2 Walking the Strip, going in and out places and watching people etc
    > #3 Bellagio fountains (maybe the best free thing, but you can't spend a lot of time there, so therefore on 3)

    5. Best Romantic Activity (not in a hotel room)
    > Bellagio fountains: First time to Vegas I went with BF and we both teared up when the fountains were playing, holding eachother and with goosebumps all over. It was a real special moment, the most romantic of our holiday for sure.

    6. Best Nightclub for Couples
    > Can't say much about.

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas
    > #1 to spend an evening Downtown, incl Fremont Street Experience
    > #2 not plan too much, just spend time around the Strip (incl the Bellagio fountains) and go with the flow (good shoes is really a must!)
    > #3 try at least one of the many buffets which Vegas is (also) famous for

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast -- I don't usually wake up for breakfast but I would say Hash House a GoGo would be a good choice --- its huge portions and a little heavy but i garantee you will not want to eat lunch after this.
    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included) -- I'm a big fan of wolfgang pucks restaurant in MGM. Split a appitizer and a brick over pizza and you will be well under $50 (A+ quality and service)
    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per couple -- I like Smith and Wollensky's steakhouse (on the strip between walgreens and MGM) -- my favorite steakhouse. But you are looking at least 100 per person plus tip for an app or salad, a steak, a couple side dishes to share and a glass of wine or 2.
A really good deal is PJ Clarkes in the forum shop at Caesars palace. Dinner for 2 for $100 (includes soup or caesar salad, delmonico steak with twin lobster tail or share a 40oz t-bone, a dessert and a bottle of wine). Its not on the menu so you have to ask for it. (it is listed on their website). I wouldnt say that quality was anywhere near smith and wollenskys but its very good for the price. Also if you go during happy hour they had $1 oysters if you like seafood.
    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas?

    5. Best Romantic Activity (not in a hotel room)

    6. Best Nightclub for Couples

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas definately spend at least one night downtown

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville at Flamingo. 20% off bill if you get a Total Rewards Playing card. top notch breakfast for about $10 per person.

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included) Palm Restaurant inside Caesars Palace Forum shops. Great steak and seafood.

    3. Favorite off Strip meal > Ellis Island, behind Ballys, $7.99 for a steak dinner w a beer. It is an excellent meal and worth 4x the price.

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas? Casino hop and people watch.

    5. Best Romantic Activity I really enjoy dressing nicely and taking the lady out to a really good dinner and a show.

    6. Best Nightclub for Couples I would suggest Mix in Mandalay, Foundation room same place, and I also think Toby Keiths in Harrahs is a ton of fun for couples if you like country rock bands. Live music every night w no cover.

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas The first trip you sholuld just try to get a good mix of everything, that way you know your likes for the next trip. Check out all the resorts you can and see what vibe grabs you the best. Sign up for a Total Rewards card at andy Caesars property and an M LIfe card for the MGM joints. Familarize yourself with what group owns which Casinos, MGM/M Life is pretty much everything south of Cosmo/PH except for Mirage and Caesars from PH north. The card can save you $$$ even if you dont gamble.

Have fun and dont just hole up in your home casino, get out and get in it!!

    1. Favorite on Strip breakfast - Mon AMi Gabi - eat outside

    2. Favorite on Strip meal <$50 per couple (alcohol not included) - also Mon Ami. great value for the money
    3. Favorite on Strip meal >$50 per couple - Bartolatta....outstanding! Do the prix-fix dinner. Just sit back and they bring you incredibly great food

    4. Favorite Free thing to do in Vegas? Go to downtown and walk around freemont street.

    5. Best Romantic Activity (not in a hotel room) - go to some rooftop bar or restaurant at sundown and watcht the lights comeon. Top of the World at The STRAT , Paris, or Binions Steakhouse downtown are some suggestions

    6. Best Nightclub for Couples - pass

    7. Thing you would say is A MUST for a first timer to Vegas - Freemont street

General rule - don;t go to any of theplaces that are chains. The Palm is no different in Vegas as New York or Chicago. Same with IHOP or PF Changs. Unless you are from some small town and don't get around very much.
