I thought I would ask on here instead of searching a million websites- what are the approximate opening dates of SkyVue and Linq observation wheels?

Their sites don't give definite dates, they may still not be set in stone. I was hoping by february when we were there at least one of them would be open, but looking around on the web it isn't looking like it.

The "wheel" or what ever you want to call it, has no appeal to me. If they open more than one in LV, then all but one will fail. They are amusement rides, not destination type attractions. Once around and your experience is over. It offers no thrill, at it's slow pace, once you have been to the top. The Stratosphere found that out about amusement rides, and ended up having to change their original concepts and will eventually need to do that again. Only the few children visitors, who have never been on it, will want to go. Adults who frequent LV, will not be repeat customers. IMHO.

Another view from LVA mentions a rumor from
(pretty juiced channels) that Gary Loveman's ferris wheel
is dead in the water and Caesars bankruptcy could be
no longer a matter of 'if' but 'when'.

No matter what dates you find, they'll be completely irrelevant. Vegas Chatter has page after page of documented recent delays, from the simplest little yogurt shops to Bagatelle Beach Club/Supper Club/Dry Cleaners/Auto Repair at the Tropicana, which was to open this past Memorial Day but completely missed the entire 2012 summer season with no reliable opening date yet.....

It seems that opening anything on time in Vegas is a major impossibility lately. When you consider that it only took 18 months to build Luxor, that is most puzzling indeed.

I hope at least one wheel opens. We just got one in Pensacola, Fl and it is pretty cool. It won't be a big deal for the adrenaline junkies, but it will be another landmark on the strip and should provide some awesome opportunities to take pics of the strip. Hope it is open at night. Sam's post is spot on though, it does seem like there are a ton of delays in all kinds of different projects in LV. The good news is that these things go up fast. They completed the one in Pensacola in only a couple of months.:peace:

We have one of these in Pensacola and it is pretty cool. They are not destinations for tourists, but they will bring people to the properties which is the big picture here.

There will only be one. The one across from Mandalay Bay is dead in the water.

?????? Thats not what we saw at all last week, if either one is dead in the water it looks to be the Linq one. Since August the one by Mandalay Bay has made quite a bit of progress, the one down at Linq probably 1/3 as much.
