What's the story behind your T2V handle? (And I apologize if y'all tackled this before my arrival.)

I'm a freelance writer, mostly golf and travel, hence "golfntravel."

The reason for my name is that I really use the same as my husband, our last name is Handley hence the handle and my husband just added the bar because he thought it sounded good. LOL [IMG]

Because 'Tastes Like Chicken' wouldn't fit on the display screen of my cell phone.

Well, ok, actually it is because of dangerous wind. That, and, my real name is Mikey. [IMG]

The first school I attended was Ohio State and I'm still a Buckeye at heart. But alas, Buckeye Bob was here long before me. So I'm using the logo from the school I work at now, Bowling Green State U. in NW Ohio.

My user name comes from 2 of my alma maters--"Hoya" cause I'm a Georgetown Hoya (undergrad) and "Heel" comes from Tarheel--I live in North Carolina now and I'm in the doctoral program at UNC Chapel Hill. Plus I like the alliteration [IMG] Alas, I'm not the only one who thinks this way--although this is my username on lots of websites, when I tried to get this license plate, SOMEONE ALREADY HAD IT. I was devastated. So now my license plate is HEELHOYA. Doesn't roll of the tongue as nicely

Here's a stunner, my name really is Al, and I really am a doctor. Well, not a real doctor, a Ph.D., so if you're in need of medical help and I'm around, sorry. They used to call me doc at my old job, which was kinda odd 'cuz normally, I keep the title put away unless someone is trying to get uppity with me.

I am a huge baseball fan (SF Giants to be exact) and pay homage to the mythical inventor of baseball, Abner Doubleday with my handle. How huge of a fan am I (and how lucky in love did I get)? I wanted to name our son after a Hall of Fame baseball player (Brooks Robinson) and my wife agreed to it.

    Long story, but...

I graduated high school in 1985. It seems as though my friends changed the pronunciation of 'bitch' about a hundred different ways. Fast forward to buying our first computer. My wife is Wendy and I am Doug. We play softball together and somebody called her Wen-dog after a base hit. It stuck, so our computer (email) name was windog1. While trying to register at about every site you can think of, windog was always taken. So, on a lark, I registered at Yahoo as bazootch (as a reference to a name created by my HS friends). It cleared, and seemed to clear on every site we ever wanted to register at.

So mine came out of creative necessity, and doesn't really mean anything...

"Moe" is my nickname, a shortened form of my last name Elmore. It was always pronounced Elmo and a friend started calling me Moe in my high school days (class of 1987) and it stuck. The "mr" comes from the fact that I am a teacher(high school). I am beginning to get my classmates kids in my classes and they know my nickname, however they must add the "mr", resulting in "mistermoe". I spell out mr, because it is already being used or just not accepted on most websites. It's kind of funny, very few of my classmates or friends know my real name.

Craps is my favorite casino game, so I kept punching in craps-related terms until one worked!

No, I am neither small(6'1-280), furry, nor red(Afr.Amer). I do laugh when tickled.

I'm a huge fan of the Blues Brothers. Me and a buddy were Jake and Elwood. I was Jake because I was bigger and could dance and sing. My buddy could do neither, but he could run in place like Aykroyd does.

I remember back years ago when I first got AOL whenever I found out what the internet was, Blusbro was the closest I could come to getting BluesBrother. And this was like in 1996!

    OK...

Ladies and Gentlemen...this is a long-drawn out story...so it should fit right in

Sometime in the early 90's, a friend and I decided we would run our own little Fantasy baseball league. It didn't really work out all that well but the draft was kind of fun and I did get to do all the stats...wait, was that fun? OK...so I also get to have a team. Decided I was going to create an entire mythos about this team of mine. First off, they were going to come from Hamilton, Ontario and they were going to be called the Basehawks. This from a combination of the fact that they were traditionally a speedy, base-stealing kind of team and the 'hawks part is a nod to my alma-mater (Kansas Jayhawks).

Now, this team needed a manager who was also appropriate to the mythos. Since I was really going to be the manager, my initials (JR) were a natural and you combine that with "swift" for speed and you create JR Swift.

Shortly thereafter, we bought a computer and got online...I didn't want to use my real name so JR Swift moved from the diamond to the internet. Henceforth, JR Swift became my unofficial alter-ego, much more suave, smooth and interesting than my "normal" personality. As my career as a drunken, karaoke lounge singer took off, literally dozens of fans came to know me as JR Swift. Over time, the JR has caught on and is frequently used even by close, personal friends (both of them) in addition to my real name which is John (never Johnny...unless you want to give me money or are a very hot young lady who wants me).

    There you go...sorry you asked?

I am not a very creative person so I just combined my first and last name - Deb + Wilson = Debwils.
