Hi Everyone I have been to Vegas many times and we have eaten /played at the Rio several times however I have never stayed there.
I just booked the standard room for $30 a night. I am curious as to what others have experienced at Rio - do they often upgrade if rooms are available? I usally stay at the Wynn and prefer to stay there in the past.
But with no really good offers anymore from there I started looking and saw that Rio's nights were $30 for the week we are there. Do they have a resort fee on top of this? I didnt see it anywhere in the charge listing.
Anyone have any thoughts they would like to share. I know this place is off the strip but we seem to enjoy the buffet / play atmosphere it offers and for such a savings it leaves us $$$ for other things. Thanks in advance

I think it's well worth the price. Rooms are on par with Bally's and Harrah's. No resort fee. I got a $40 per night rate for mid-Feb weekends when even downtown was $70 per night and up. You'll enjoy the savings, and I like the energy there. Ask for a renovated room or to be moved if you don't like where they put you.

Thanks so much - I was just worried about the old saying " you get what you pay for" I enjoy the vibe from Rio and like you said "cost savings"
    :woohoo:

If you like things like fine linens, pillow top matress, and things, you might be disappointed. I just say this because you say you usually stay at Wynn, and the difference will be like the difference in McDonalds, and Ruths Chris for meat. IMHO, you do get what you pay for, but as long as you dont expect to get something you are not paying for, then it will be fine.

Well to be honest the very first time I ever went to Vegas we had to stay at the Ogden house hotel down town (El cortez affiliate I think) and trust me that was scraping the bottom of the barrel - lol so I don't suppose that I am going to be disappointed then. After all visited the Rio many times and it was always pretty good time so for the savings I am actually looking forward to it now. :)

I go to Vegas nearly every month, and will be celebrating my 50th birthday there. The plan was to stay at a higher end place and "live large", but I opted for the Rio and am using the savings to take everyone to a show and have a party at Drink and Drag. I'll still be having a great time, but doing a lot more with that money than enjoying luxurious sheets. To each their own, but the original poster sounds like they'll be just fine. Let's go have some fun!

They will upgrade your room, odds are they will ask if you want to.

Rio is a nice place, not really fancy but nice.

I usually travel solo, so the suites in the Ipanema Tower are fine by me. I also like the proximity of the Palms and the Gold Coast.

Martorano's is a very decent Italian restaurant (above the casino) and the Wine Cellar (below the casino) is a quiet place to enjoy some wine and cheese. And you can't wrong at the American Bar and Grill.

Not a big fan at Rio's casino floor, which is why Palms and GC are nice alternatives.

Rio standard rooms are large and a very nice for not being an "ultra-luxury" room. I stayed their last month and thought it was the best standard room I've ever had. My on,y complaint is that you are far enough off strip that you need a taxi or shuttle to get anywhere except the Palms or Gold Coast. Beyond that, I had a very nice stay at Rio.

    It's a good value for $20-$30

I've stayed there at least 6-7 times and havent had any major issues.
Besides a lot of things already mentioned ,I love the location for a rental car. You can hop on and off the I-15 and you can access a lot of banks, restaurants, this and that in the area west of The Rio.

We stayed at the Rio last March and will stay there again in 8 weeks. We found the suites large, most rooms I was in had a keurig coffee maker. Rooms either had two queen beds or a king and a pullout couch.

The slots were good to us on our last visit, they have decent restaurants and we loved the buffet!

The RIO is one of my favs. I particularly like having the mini fridge in each room.

:peace:I think you will really enjoy the Rio--the rooms are large (they call them suites but they are really mini suites) and the help there are great.

If you were going to check in...which room would you ask for?

Would you do the $20 trick...and if you have the base room...which I paid $20 for a night....what would you consider a success?

I think it would be awesome if I could get a corner room...but I doubt that would happen.
