    Hello All,

I'm seriously considering these tournaments to fill a couple of afternoons/evenings while in Vegas in April. I want to play at least a couple of tournaments, and these (and Venetian) have a great structure. I've played in the Ventian tournament before, but never Aria.

Anyone played in their tournaments? I follow them on twitter and it appears they get a really good turnout most evenings and pretty good afternoons as well. It also seems like the poker room is considered very nice to most. I like friendly but competitive poker play. I'm in Vegas to have fun, and although its great to win, I look at my time in a poker tournament from an entertainment aspect.

I trust the opinions of those on the board, so anyone who's played in the room, any thoughts or experiences you can share?

    Thanks!

best medium stake tourney I have played in on strip, standard very mixed so don't try and get too smart or thr donks may have you

only time it's not so good is during WSOP when they get busy and the tiurneys are moved onto casino floor leaving cash games in poker room

Very comfortable room. Lots of space, close to the head, table side dining, good cocktail service.

Definitely one of my favorite 'daily' tournaments I fill a trip with. They do a great job, and it's one of my favorite "top 3" rooms.

Without a doubt my #1 top room in Vegas even if this trip has not been profitable! How a top poker room should be imho :nworthy:

Don't play poker at casinos, but my poker playing friends really love the Aria room. They have also said that the afternoon tournament is competitive with decent players. I think they prefer that because better players are more predictable. Hope that helps

I played the afternoon tournament a couple of years ago and I thought the room and quality of players were good; however, the tournament only had about 20 players including some locals who appeared to be playing as a team.

Three locals arrived right before the tournament started and were all seated at the same table, albeit there were only two tables in the tournament. It appeared that they were working together to build one of the player's chip stack based on some questionable play by the other two players.

Very comfortable room, great service. The players are better than most places though, so your ROI might night be as good.

Good tournament structure, great drink service and variety. They draw better players, but catch some cards and you might go far.

The night tournament definitely gets more players than the daytime one.

All great comments, thanks for the info. Sounds like this and the tournaments at Venetian are tops on my list! I enjoy competitive poker and like to beat other quality players. (which I consider myself to be one of) :poker:

    Have played about 4 times

    2x at 1PM & 2x at 7PM
Usually around 120 players on weekends
Ironically I have gone far in 1PM tourneys, getting out JUST out of the money...and have been donked out early in both 7PM tourneys. (guy caught runner runner GUTSHOT to catch his straight on my flopped set...yep, looked like there was no straight possibility...)
Great tourney, my fav for sure. Great structure, decent price, mix of players.

Easily my favorite room in town. I've played both the 1 PM & 7 PM (no cashes yet :grrr:) but have often gone pretty deep.

I'd consider the noon Venetian tourney my other favorite in town. Comparing the two, I'd say the "friendliness factor" is much higher at Aria. The V players seem to me to be a bit more grinder gruff, while Aria has a much more cheery feeling - I think people genuinely feel fortunate to be hanging out at such a cool room & the vibe that kicks off shows naturally. Maybe it's just me.

Warning - if you go deep in the 1 PM, you'll still be playing when the evening tourney starts. I don't think it's unusual for the 100+ player games to go for 8-9 hours - factor this in if you're playing the 7 PM!

Aria Bonus: You have a good chance of seeing some A-list players in there. I once went pretty far in a tourney there, got moved to a table up in the high-limit tier & was playing two tables away from Doyle Brunson! Quite a thrill (& helped take the sting off of busting out just before the $).

    Aria tournies

I've played in both V and Aria afternoon tournies my last two trips and loved both, but preferred Aria.

The 1p Aria I was in had 124 total entries (re-entry is allowed for the first 4? Levels) There was around 100 actual people who played. At 930p we were down to 9 handed one person said upon forming the final table 'not even discussing a chop so let's get that right out there'. Two orbits later he was gone and a solid 40 minutes went by until we broke. Coming back from the 10 minute break the chip leader, and older gentleman who had triple the chips of any other person suggested a nine way chop for 1250ish per and we agreed. 8th spot would have paid like 240, first was originally like 3300 and you didn't break 1k until like 3rd. Top heavy, so easy to agree on the huge variance profit given the blind to stack ratios of the bottom 7.

    Good luck! Go Hawks!

Good to hear that chop story

I can only think of 2 tourneys in the last many years that I HAVEN'T chopped anymore (though it can vary when we chop); one I offered at top 3 with 2 young foreign guys (I mention this as they kept visiting in their language..:grrr:) when we were about even. They refused--guess they figured they could gang up on a middle aged woman--& I thought, fine, I'll show you and proceeded to clean both of them out:thumbsup:The other was recently at Harrahs and I had SOOO many chips there was never an opportunity for anyone to ask; and heads up was with the worst player in the game & I had him 10-1, so I knew I was good.

Aria is a love/hate relationship--twice I have been donked out early (try runner runner GUTSHOT--YES, he needed 2 for the inside--I know, I know, I welcome that play, but it hurt) and the other 2 times I have gone out 12th & 16th..ouch.

I should try V again--bad donk out in my first tourney there, along with the strong scent they pump in turned me off.

Love those tourneys--deep stack long blinds fit my style & I get more playing time from my $120 than any other game out there!
