Cheap shows

Hi all, 2nd trip to Vegas comming on Jan 3-13.

Want to go see a show with the wife but cash flow is low.

Looking at Comedy/ and or Hypnotist shows.

Can anybody refer some good ones that are decent priced?

Plus anybody know of anything special happening in vegas Jan 3-5?

Only my second time here staying at The Signature.

Any tips/tricks suggestions greatly appreciated!!

It's about $30.00 plus tax for general admission, and runs afternoon shows at 1pm and 3pm, Wed. thru Sat.

Venetian/Palazzo will still be running their Winter-themed celebration or whatever the heck it's called.
There's an ice-skating rink and lots of performers walking around. Nice lighting displays, etc.

There's a professional horsemen's convention going on over at Caesars Palace during your stay.


George Wallace's comedy show is at the Flamingo and Penn and Teller at the Rio.

Mac King sometimes has free coupons although it's free with a drink purchase (still about $10 a drink) but still good for the money. In the afternoons or mornings before show time, there's a girl standing around Carnival Court handing out these tickets. It's easy to miss these girls since they're not dressed as flashy showgirls. They're just quietly handing these tickets out and quite frankly, most people are tuned out to anyone handing out pamphlets on the strip because of the porn slappers. But once you know they're there, I seem to see them all the time now although my last trip was well over a year ago.

I would also recommend Carrot Top. His tickets are usually available at Tix 4 Tonight for about $30-35 each, but beware his show can sell out fast due to the relatively small showroom he's in. You gotta pick up tickets as soon as the booths open to grab his tickets. I wouldn't hesitate to pay full pop for his tickets at say $50-60 each. His show will have your stomach hurting from laughing so hard!

Anthony Cools is a decent enough hypnotist that's also usually available at the Tix 4 Tonight booths for around $30-35 each. Not sure on any of the pricing anymore as its been awhile since my last trip.

since you are staying at the signature, check out the comedy acts that are playing at the Brad Garrett Comedy Club at MGM. I've been to 2 different shows there and had a blast both times. Brad garrett usually is not there but if he is the price is a little more expensive. They usually have a minimum of 2 comedians (sometimes they are headliners, but usually they are just good up and comers) as well as a host. The first time i went to a show there they had two extra comedians come out, one of which was gilbert godfrey(he was surprisingly very funny). You should be able to score tickets at the 1/2 price ticket booth for around $35 a person or less. It is a small venue so there really aren't any bad seats in the house (but i've seen a $20 tip to the usher score some people a 2nd row seat).
Just a side note: drinks in the comedy club are a little pricey so just be aware of that. Also, i would go on youtube and checkout who the comedians are for that night to see if it is worth going to see.

 

for lounge acts, I know mandalay used to have live bands playing at one of the bars inside the casino (i remember there was a stage and a dance floor). Drinks are little pricey at the bar but it might be worth checking out if they still do that.

 

Just about all of the casinos have lounge acts. All range of options ( and time that they perform). Usually there is a drink minimum but to me its a very inexpensive way to spend a late afternoon/evening.

 

Eastside Cannery out on Boulder has a great Latin lounge act every Monday. Other cheap entertainment as well

It is a bit out of the way, but the 202 Flamingo bus will get you right there. Or the free shuttles to Sam's Town will take you at certain hours and you can walk from their. Sam's Town has their own free show in the courtyard and on Thursday has a free VEgas review in the afternoon.
Gold Coast used to have some free lounge music in the afternoon and it was not required to buy a drink. I have not gone in a while, but you can take a look at their website. A cheap lunch is to buy the cheap hotdogs with the works at the sportsbook and carry your comped beer from a bit of play at the machines into the lounge for the music.
American Casino Guide has free comedy coupons to the Riviera and other 2 for 1 coupons as well including coupons for the Mac King show mentioned.
I like the comedy at Big Al's at the Orleans as well.
When you arrive in Vegas look for the little booklets or advertising. They have good deals and coupons as well.

 

We saw a hypnotist show for free (well, had to pay a small service fee) last year and I noticed at least this December the tickets were still available from Goldstar. Marc Savard, I think. It was a fun/funny show, especially for the price.

Goldstar also had a bunch of other comedy and such shows for free or very cheap.

 

Do those discount booths on the strip really work? Do you get a big discount?

 

They work for sure discount is different for each show could be 20% could be 60% , a show could be there friday and not saturday you never know what you're gonna get

 

Always specials on the Mac King show Just check at the TR counter. The show is funny entertaining more of something to do during the day. If the gambling isn't being kind to you. Also gives your feet a chance to rest.

 

Agreed... they are inconsistant as for discount rates depending on what show and number of tickets available.... and expect to be seated in the back of the theater (but a$20 bill to the usher may change that in certain venues)

Their thing is twofers. They also carry some tickets that are discounted.
You visit one of their outlets (mornings are best...) pay for your 'voucher'
which you then take to your Shows box office and exchange for the real
ticket. At the box office, the best seats go first...it's all first come/first serve.
Best way is to hit the box office after Tix4tonight or VERY EARLY before
your showtime.
