Ok so how cold is it out there now? It was 36 degrees here in the Orlando area this morning and
I still wore my cargo shorts (but with a jacket) to my 6AM coffee shop visit.
I'm no wimp but admit it was chilly! Wondering how bad it's going to be over New Years in Vegas?
Has it been windy there? Because it's the Vegas wind that will get ya! I really hate wearing long pants!

It's in the low 40's. I'm not a shorts wearer so can't say how you'd be. I wore a jacket yesterday but on the strip last night some people went jacketless.

Low 50's in the day and mid 30's for the lows. I'm thinking no shorts. Shirt and jeans.

It was damn chilly last week!! Wouldn't have been too bad, but it was windy as heck, too!! I thankfully had a pair of gloves with me but I was wishing for some ear muffs!

Download accuweather app on your smartphone and put in a Vegas zip
(89109) and you can look at current weather as well as 7 days out. Weather bug app has web cams on it and is another great weather app. Best of all, they're both free. I know I look a couple times a week. Mainly living in Minnesota I want to be jealous of the nicer weather there than here :grrr:

There are lots of ways to get ACCURATE weather. Asking here is really not the way to find out. I use weather.com, but there are plenty more.

Also, asking about todays weather has little bearing on New Years.

I have apps but they don't feel cold like real people do! Asking here was a good idea in theory.
What I learned from asking is I'm still going to wear shorts, bring a jacket and pack a beanie cap.

I'm from Seattle and was there last weekend (15th). In Seattle 40 can be a bitter cold with the rainy weather. In Vegas last weekend I just wore a nice shirt, suit jacket, nice jeans and was fine. It was chilly outside in the middle of the night, but not crazy cold, during the day it was comfortable with the jacket on. Inside the Casinos it got slightly warm with the jacket, but not too bad.

Like the dry heat of the summer, Vegas generally is a dry cold too, so not so bad.

Absolutely! Of course, there will be the folks bundled-up as if they're at the North Pole and commenting to everyone else who isn't wrapped like them, "aren't you cold?" and there'll be guys like me still in shorts, because it's a comfortable 70 some degrees inside the casino and that's where I am. :peace:

I have been to Vegas many times in January. Being from Florida I have felt very cold especially on windy nights. My main problem with temperature is inside the casinos. They always keep it too cold in the summer and too hot in the winter. Last January I remember walking off a very chilly Freemont Street into a sauna at Four Queens. Everyone at the bar was complaining. Even after I took off my hoodie and flannel shirt it was still warm. So I take a lightweight thermal jacket thats easy to carry when I am indoors and cowboy up when I go outdoors.

I don't mind Fremont in winter. The canopy helps contain body heat, and keeps wind out and most of the places have heaters going outside.
