A very nice sounding lady from PH{never stayed there}called and said something about CET properties and at my level I get things and gave me her phone number if I needed anything and she said she would call me with updats and info. Is that a Casino Host and what do they do and do I really need one? Never have paid attention to them.

She called again. She called herself my contact person for show or dinner reserv. So I told her I get my rooms comped but can't ever get a suite, can she help me. Nope, it all has to do with your play. I can help with other stuff but not that. Oh, it was Dana from CE.

If you scroll down, you will find people get these calls often - or should I say, new people get these calls. It is a sales group trying to get you back to Vegas. They can help a little, but not a lot.

nope, if she can't even get you a suite, she's certainly not your new "host."

HUH???? that makes no sense! I have a host for EVERY casino I go to. They make all my reservations, keep track of my play and call me with upgrades and offers. ALWAYS get one!!!

Just a guess, but I imagine your level of play is much higher than the OP. They do not, and can not give a host to everyone. There is no business sense assigning a host to a $50 a day player. Or a $100 a day player....

The host called HIM! That means he had the level of play. Always take advantage of a host if offered.

You CAN get a suite if you have the play to show for it. Everyone knows that. To just "ask" for a suite is never going to happen unless you have history with her. For example, I play heavy when I'm in Vegas every few years. My host knows this and whenever I want to go back, I just call him and he books my flight, rooms, shows, dinner reservations and gives me RFB (free food). You have to establish some kind of history with them OR if you just dropped a boatload there, you can then ask for a suite the next time or an upgrade on your current trip.

If she's out cold calling folks but doesn't have the authority to arrange a suite, then she's a marketing rep. its the lowest position in the host chain. they are not hosts. they are in marketing hoping to work their way up to host. what she's trying to do is get him back to their property under her name. she will get the credit and perhaps they will develop together a relationship that grows. until then, she's not a host nor his. She's just marketing like any other cold caller would.

What I have found in the CET world these days are the following people out there who
could get assistance from. CSE and above seem to be the folks with any influence.

Casino Marketing Manager or VIP Representative - Marketing staff the may carry a quota to bring in people to the casino. Focuses on group sales, etc Can do some booking for midtier players. Can't usually offer more then your existing offers. Works with new player development to formulate marketing offers and get people in the door.

Casino Sales Executive - basically a secretary or jr level host. Can book your existing marketing offers, get you room upgrades and limited disc comps with host approval. Works with hosts at multiple properties and has some type of quota to bring in play at individual level. (Diamond and some platnium level players get assigned these)

Executive Host or Sr Executive Host - Carry quota, can offer upfront comps beyond what is your marketing offers, can offer discrecinary comps, has access to full room inventory at property assignments. (7 Stars, and some Diamond ADT)

I have worked with all three over my 10 year time with CET program. Right now I have a CSE who I use for my bookings and most times can get me better rooms than whats online. Also some write down on the bill beyond what my reward credits would cover.

As discussed above, and quite often here - these calls from CET are usually from folks that are more like cold calling marketing reps trying to drum up business. Nothing like a host at other properties.
