Table Games Question about Orleans Blackjack

Hi All: On recommendation from what I've read here, we will be taking our first trip to the Orleans the weekend before Christmas. We've only walked through there 1 time before and dropped a couple bucks on machines.

My question is, what are the blackjack limits like there and the game conditions? I know they have seriously degraded on the strip unless you are a high-roller (I most certainly am not), and want to know if the outlying places are following suit.

I know they have $5 tables all over the place for all games (BJ, Pai Gow, Bac, etc.) It's my favorite off strip casino. It's very big and a bazillion slots! I don't know the exact BJ rules but it's probably better than the strip.

 

Blackjack is 3:2, H17 (hit on soft 17), DAS (double after split) on the double deck pitch games. Not sure what the rules are on shoe (6-decks) games.

 

Yes, the Orleans does, indeed, have $5 BJ, though occasionally, especially early in the morning, only one or two $5 tables may be open. Most of time, however, there are several tables with $5 limits and most are double deck pitch games paying 3:2 on BJ's. DDAS is permitted and you can even play two hands at the table minimum! There are also a few shoe games (same rules) and a SuperFun21 table at $5. Another BJ pit on the opposite end usually opens at night when things get busy. For the most part, finding $5 tables isn't a problem. You can also take the shuttle to Gold Coast, which has the same good rules. Unfortunately, I haven't seen less than $10 minimums at minibac in the last couple of years.

The Orleans is also one of my favorite places to stay and play, having done so many times.

Great! Thanks so much for the answers. I figured the rules would be somewhat better, but it sounds pretty good! We're excited to come again to Vegas, it's been awhile, except for a short weekend this last March for my nephew's 21st birthday....so we kept to the strip so he could experience it.

We are mainly VP players and we do enjoy playing some low limit blackjack, so I'm glad the rules are favorable.

 

The last time I played at the Orleans they had this BJ rule. If the dealer had a 10 showing, they did not check the hole card until all action is complete. If you dobule/split you still lose.

 

From my experieces, they ALWAYS check for BJ with a 10 up. I'm currently at the Gold Coast at the bar taking a much needed break from the tables. You know that sttupid sucker Lucky Ladies side bet (no more Lucky Lucky here), well I played it anyway, got the both Queen of Hearts, and the dealer had an ace up. Yep, she had a BJ and I made $1000 on my dollar "sucker" bet! It's starting out to be a good day! Too bad the earth ends tomorrow!

 

I admit it's been a while since I've been there. Used to live down the street never played BJ there because of that rule. If they are checking now before action is made then that is good.

 

Even at those places that didn't check with a 10 up until the end, I never heard of losing more than the initial bet if they had a BJ. Anyway. it's safe these days.

Is the Orleans within walking distance from the strip?

 

The short answer is no, though I'm sure it's been done. There's a free shuttle from Bill's and the 107 bus from NYNY that are better choices.

 

Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time.

But no, it is not what is commonly thought of as, walking distance.
