How does your local casino's comps compare to Vegas comps?

I've been preaching lately that I was going to stop going to Foxwoods in CT and focus all my play in Vegas because comps are better in Vegas.

Well, we all know what's going on with MLife, and the resulting decrease in both freeplay and RFB comps.

Here's what I get this upcoming Saturday night at Foxwoods:

• $400 Freeplay
• $100 Macy's Gift Card
• $100 Dining Credit
• 2 tickets to Lisa Lampanelli
• 1 free Joker t-shirt

And I'm only required to stay 1 night to get those comps. Most Vegas trips require a minimum of 2 nights, if not 3 to get the freeplay.

Hmmmm...makes me reconsider big time the amount of $$ I'm dropping in Vegas versus at Foxwoods.

Does anyone have similar comparisons where your local is providing much better comps than Vegas?

I find local play causes greater swings than my Vegas offers. For example CET Midwest properties, for 4K points (20K coin in) over two trips in a month period will net me weekly offers of $50 to $100 in freeplay (voucher + promotional offering) and 2 to 3 free nights. I can usually squeeze 50 to 60 in meal comps.

The same level of play at Ballys last year over two days, saw me getting offers of $200 in FP, 5 nights comp'd, and usually $200 in discretionary comps. Plus I found the Bonus TR credit ratio earned is higher in Vegas then the Midwest casinos.

Now the Major Quarterly promos are pretty good. We had a shopping event where I had 30K shopping points for October play which netted me a new iPad.

I don't feel like the local props give me any attention as a high tier diamond (50K) in TR points. Its pretty much if you are not 7 star you get ignored. It used to be really great with the golf scramble, diamond parties, etc.

Now that I have a Casino JR Host, Sales executive or whatever you want to call him. I at least always get comp'd rooms and some FB or Spa credit on top of my standard marketing offers. Not to mention I usually get the higher grade rooms in Vegas now.

I personally am moving on, and will focus all my play in Vegas next year, with 4 to 5, 4 day trips with slightly higher bankrolls.

 

7 years playing here and nothing, in other words MUCH better in Vegas

 

The comps and stuff I get from my local casino are all locals oriented things like free play, bonus point days, hot seat draws, contest entries and things like that. Locally something like hotel rooms would mean nothing to me.

 

My local casino is a Penn National casino.Hollywood asino in Central Pa.
They basically comp nothing.
If you are a big slot player you get a card that allows you to get free drinks while you are playing after you hit a certain level.
Table players do not qualify for that.I was playing Blackjack one night and a guy at my table was playing $500/hand+.
He had been been playing several hours before I sat down.
He asked for a comp at the Steakhouse.
Three floormen huddled together,they were clearly sweating the request and maybe the action.
Five minutes later they offered him $15 off the buffet.
The entire place was laughing at the offer.
This company owns the M in Las Vegas. They clearly have figured out they don't need to comp when they are the only game in town.

 

Our local one is a Tribal casino.

One free room night per month
Two free buffets per month (we go on Sat night for prime rib - but it doesn't compare to a Vegas buffet)
$100 FP per week - this sounds great but I SWEAR they have those chips in the machine set so you win virtually NOTHING until you get into playing your own cash. So it sounds great but gets you really nothing.

We earn comp points about the same ratio as CET props. However we earn no bonus points for playing longer (which can REALLY multiply your RCs). And nothing like Great Gift Wrap Up or anything like that. Sometimes they do a 'fun' evening with prizes etc. but never won anything there.

 

When I lived up in Jersey, I got almost nothing in comps. $1/hour playing poker and maybe $2-3 playing $20-30 hands of Pai Gow. No comped hotel stay (Borgata; CET gave me no love either, but I gave them very, very limited play).

When I moved to Houston, the casinos in Lake Charles/Kinder are worse. Coushatta sends $15-25/week fairly consistently. No rooms. I think it's $1 per 2 hours of poker there and about the same playing $20-$30 pgp. So much of their business is on folks driving in and driving out that same day.

And then Vegas...

This year, I tipped over to Sapphire at Main Street (B-Connected) and they've been sending me steady 3-night offers. The Feb. offer included two $15-dining credits. Will be used to take most of a 2-person check from the 777. They only give play-based dining credits for slots/VP and since I'm a tables-guy only, I partake of none of that.

CET.. I went out for a 4-day bender and had the *worst* time of it on the tables. Just couldn't get anything going.. which was a shame because that's the first time I really bumped my play up ($100/hand) for the entire trip. Twice I burned out a grand in under 30 minutes of Pai Gow. That's hard to do, considering I only get 12-14 hands an hour on that game. Worse, because I had no table time, I got zero comps. Wait, check that, $11. It was comical.

Something changed though. When I went to book my Feb trip, the calendar came up COMP across pretty much the entire month. I can stay for 5 nights - weekends included - for free before they start charging me $20-50/night. Heck, I can book the full weekend of super bowl sunday at 4 properties, with two more getting one night comped and the other for a couple of bucks. So I definitely got re-categorized in their system, despite my short table time.

I don't know what I like better, honestly. At Borgata, I could play all day and rack up (relative term, I know) $30-40 in comps. It wasn't much, but I knew what I would get and I could reasonably expect to get 2 free casual meals for that comp. In Louisiana, especially Coushatta (Kinder, LA), the food is so cheap that comps are sort of a lost cause - I can get a soup and sandwich from the casual counter for $6. Chicken fingers with a salad bar and fries from the coffee shop for $8.50, no tax. So it's kind of pointless. The money they give me covers my gas, plus or minus.

In Vegas... It's a mess. "Charge it to your room, we'll see what we can do at the end..." ugh. I'm the type of person who does very badly with uncertainty. I like to *earn* things, not *get* them at the graciousness of someone else, subject to a million things I can't control. I also keep a razor tight eye on my expenses when I'm in Vegas so that a small $ win isn't overshadowed by a large dinner that never gets picked up.

That said, I've gotten more value in CET room comps in 6 months ($40 for a premium, ocean-front room in AC the Saturday before new years when they're going for 15 times that price? A trip to Paris for 4 nights comped over the Super Bowl? Yes, please!) than I have from 6 years of play in AC. And I might be able to work out more if I actually listened and just spent money on-property, charged it to the room and let them figure it out at the end.

But because I value the post-facto comps so much less than earned-as-you-go comps, they're almost meaningless to me and I have very little reason to continue betting at that same level as I did on that trip. I've already got my free room this go-round. And if I don't get it next time? Somebody else - probably downtown, but that's A-OK with me - will take care of me.

Just don't talk to me about the time I played for 4 hours @ $50/hand at the Nugget and the casino host thought I was a scrub for wanting them to pick up a light lunch for my action. That still rubs me wrong. Grumble.

 

I mostly play poker here at the Horseshoe Cleveland since the table minimums are so high - $15 during the week and $25 on the weekends.

Anyway poker players here get 25 TR credits or $0.25 per hour. This is 4 times less than CET props in Vegas. I believe there are non CET props in Vegas that give $2 or $3 in comps per hour of poker play.

 

No matter how much we lose or play at our local casino - our weekly free play amount NEVER goes any higher than $65. The only time it ever went any higher was when I quit going for 6 months - and then it went up to $300 a week (of course once I went back - boom - back to $65). With that we usually get one free hotel stay each week, and usually 2 free buffets.

 

Not even close! There are several Indian casino's near me, they are all stingy with the comps!

 

I play at my local CET casino in Indiana and comps are decent at times not great for my level of play. I normally get on a month.
(2) free buffet passes
Numerous weekly/daily slot play coupons for around $15-$25
Some 3x reward credit multiplies etc.

I normally can always get a free room at the hotel on any given day at the casino as long as it's not a big holiday like NYE. Those rates are still skyrocket for me.

In Vegas I don't seem to get anything except comp rooms which is probably from my play at the local casino. I haven't received a voucher or offer for a nickel in free play or a free buffet. I get comps that say $10 off your dining at any caesars place if you charge to your room and stuff. Not that great.

I went to Tunica last year for a weekend and like all the casinos I played in now are offering me $40-50 slot play free buffets and 3 comped nights at any location. I guess Tunica likes my play more then Vegas because I didn't even gamble on my normal amount there.
