I was thinking about all the trips I've taken to Vegas and I gotta admit, the best trips I've taken have been with 1 or 2 good friends. I've done a couple large groups (10-13 people) for bachelor parties and a couple trips with 5 or 6 people and its never the same.
The bachelor parties were fun becuase well its a bachelor party. But besides that, having that many guys its affordable to get a cabana at a day club and pay around $150-200 each. And there's the big dinner and just that fact that you are 12 drunken idiots stumbling down the strip together. But dealing with the minds of 9 or 10 other guys that some of which don't understand that you don't have to do everything as a large group all the time gets kinda old.
Like i said my favorite trips have always been with 1 or 2 of my good friends. We all have the same mindset.... relax, drink until we are stupid (well more stupid than usual), go see a concert, play VP at the bar or 2-4 limit poker to kill time and get a good buzz going. And we tend to like the same food... Raw Oyster specials, a nice steak dinner(with nobody bitching about the price or fighting over the check at the end).
I haven't done a solo trip yet..... I think it could be relaxing and laid back but I like to have a buddy there to keep me away from the tables and slots as I can get out of control at time (what a degenerate....lol)

So what is your sized group to go out to Vegas with?

I used to go with one or two friends but now always go solo. I can play where and when I want without having to wait on anyone.
Even though you go to Vegas alone you really are never alone and it's easy to strike conversations up with other people.

my best trips have been with just one other person. With more than that there is too much waiting, debating and other distractions and you lost precious time.

I like going with a couple who haven't been in a while (if at all) because it makes things feel new again. That's really the only way I can enjoy staying on the strip anymore.

Otherwise, I prefer travelling alone so I can gamble, eat and sleep when I want.

I go once a year with my nephew and twice a year with a large group of guys...anywhere from 12-30. The trips with my nephew are nice, but the trips with the large group of guys all my age (50's) are fantastic. Most stay for 3 or 4 nights. We all get together one night for dinner and one afternoon for lunch with our casino host. It's a lot of fun do be at a BJ table or three card poker table and everyone is in your group. On one occasion the casino host scheduled a craps table to open just for us.

It's such a different trip depending on the group. I think my favorites are with one other person, simply because it's easier to navigate and to agree on things to do. The more people, the more difficult it is to get out of the hotel and to your destination. That being said, my girls weekend trips have been a ton of fun!

    Solo.

Selfish, but I like to choose when, where, or if to eat.

Want to be able to get up at 5 a.m. & take a nap when I want.

Don't want to sit through another show.

Enjoy wandering from one casino to another on a whim.

Having stated the above, I think it's great that others enjoys shows, and like a lively dinner conversation. I have no problem with that. To each his (or her) own!

Let me go on record RIGHT NOW......I have never NOT had a good time in Las Vegas. Whew, glad to get that out of the way. :evillaugh

The big groups are the most fun for me though. Like David44143 said, taking over a blackjack table, or having 8 of your guys on a crap table, well, it just doesn't get much better than that.

And being able to do what you want when you want is not that much of a problem. If somebody doesn't come to breakfast, or goes to bed early, no big whoop. There are enough other guys to fill up that table.

Of course it helps if everyone is like minded, that they are all after the same thing. Fortunately I have a group of hard drinking, long gambling, degenerate friends.

Two people total ... my wife and me.
I have never been interested in bringing along extras, and then having different people all wanting to do different activities ... sightseeing, various dining options, various shows, or expecting me to be their tour guide. It all becomes too cumbersome to coordinate all those activities together.

The number depends on the itinerary and how the trip is structured.

Its perfect with the wife and I but going with others would be like this.

    Total 4 (two couples)
Go separate ways during the day. Then meet at night for dinner, drinks and hit a few machines together to gamble and drink some more

    Total 6 ( three couples)
Go separate ways during the day. Then meet at night for dinner, drinks and hit a BJ table to gamble and drink some more.

    Total 8 (four couples)
Go separate ways during the day. Then meet at night for dinner, drinks and hit a Craps table to gamble and drink some more.

More than that and it won't longer be fun and near impossible get get everyone on the same page. Even with 6 or 8 its hard since there is so much to do.

Once we went with a 3rd person and even that was almost impossible to meet up.

My favorite trips are when I go solo but friends (or my slot group) are going to be there. I get all the advantages of being solo - I can do what I want when I want - with none of the disadvantages.

If I am going with friends I often go a few days early or stay a few days after since most of them can't handle more than 3 days and that is way too short for me!

But even my worst trip to Vegas was awesome. I can't get enough of the place :evillaugh

Large group doesn't bother me much, always split up. Most I went with was 5. We only done somethings together.

If everyone is on the same page regarding meals, entertainment, etc a larger group is great. If not, then cull people from the group

Solo for 99% of my trips. Hate waiting for people to get ready or finish their coffee. When I go to shows or casino hopping it is more fun with one other.

Depends.. Usually 1 other is good. I feel like when I have larger groups we start arguing, my worst trip by far was when there was 5 of us. All we did was fight about everything. I'm picky about who I go with, especially if there is going to be alcohol involved (I'm not a big drinker)

I just did a solo recently. I enjoyed it, got to do some unique things, but it was a little weird. I liked doing whatever I wanted, but I felt myself shying away from some things like shows and restaurants. I also had trouble dragging myself away from gambling! But I liked not being judged for going back to the room at like 10:00 and watching TV haha.

Actually, as funny as it sounds, I enjoy going with my parents the most! (I'm 27, they are in their 50-60s) Well, they pay for stuff haha, we stay at the nicest places, and have the best meals, and I can go shopping with my Mom while my dad goes and explores or goes to a car show or something.

If I go strictly to gamble it is invariably solo. If I go out for March Madness I don't mind going with some buddies. If I go with an SO, we just see the sites, dine, see a show or two and do light gambling. I'm there for her and would never want to ignore her by monopolizing our time by gambling too much.

There is a lot of great non-gaming stuff to do in Vegas, and honestly I s enjoy it once in a while.
